Re: tomcat 3.2.3 configuration

2001-07-24 Thread Raphael Kuriyan

Aaron,

basic question: do you have an index.html or index.jsp in your
webapps/baseball directory? In order to get a page when you go to
http://localhost:8080/baseball you'll need an index.jsp page in this
directory. If you don't have this, try giving the name of your actual jsp
page - something like http://localhost:8080/baseball/home.jsp

another basic question: are you getting a 404 page not found or 500 internal
server error? If you're getting the latter the problem could lie elsewhere
such as a missing or incompatible java compiler.

all the best,
Raphael.

Hi William

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate it a lot. Ok, I will try what you
suggested. However, I do not have any servlets in my application, just JSP
pages. That being said, is it necessary for me to define a servlet mapping?
Also, when I try http://localhost:8080/servlet/baseball, it still cannot
find the directory. I've been following the examples I've seen to a tea,
yet unsuccessful. Aren't computers fun :)

I'll check out the URL you gave too.

Cheers

Aaron

>>> William Kaufman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 07/24/01 12:18pm >>>
It should be

  http://localhost:8080/servlet/baseball
^^^
If you want to use

  http://localhost:8080/baseball

you'll need to define your own web.xml, aliasing your servlet to "/baseball"
like,

 cut here

BaseballServlet

baseball

BaseballServlet

/baseball

 cut here

For more information, read the JSDK spec, at

  http://java.sun.com/products/servlet/download.html

Re: Help! Can't install Tomcat

2001-07-30 Thread Raphael Kuriyan

Doug,

You need JDK to run JSPs on Apache. Take out your JRE and install the
JDK1.3.

Help! I'm having problems installing Tomcat 4 on a WinNT 4 machine.

I dloaded the binary code and added my JAVA_HOME (to JRE 1.3.1) and
TOMCAT_HOME paths. I have "c:\jdk1.3.1\lib\tools.jar" appended to my
CLASSPATH. When I type "http://localhost:8080";, I get the Tomcat default
page. When I try to execute a JSP, I get the following error:
A Servlet Exception Has Occurred
Exception Report:
javax.servlet.ServletException: sun/tools/javac/Main
at org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServlet.service(JspServlet.java:464)
at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:853)

What am I doing wrong? I am not a system administrator, so please be
patient. I just want to install Tomcat so I can install Cocoon2 and do some
XML programming. Help!

Re: Netscape Enterprise server 3.0 and Tomcat

2001-07-30 Thread Raphael Kuriyan

As far as I know NES 3.x does not support JSPs by itself like iPlanet 4.x
does. But you could still download tomcat and with a little careful
configuration, you could get almost the same results. see
http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-3.2-doc/tomcat-netscape-howto.html

Hi users,

Can i use tomcat with Netscape enterprise server 3.0 to load servlets
and JSP???

How can i do it ??

Re: Netscape Enterprise server 3.0 and Tomcat

Again, as I remember it, JRun automatically configures NES during install.
You'll probably be able to get more info on the allaire site
(www.allaire.com)

But personally, I prefer tomcat. As time goes by, you'll probably find that
you're more comfortable working with tomcat ;-)

Hello all,

I am using tomcat 3.2.3, windows 2000 professional at my home, upon
occasional inspection of my tomcat log, an intresting, strange error is
observed and enclosed below. I only can caputure 200 lines from my log
screen, but below is the best bit of the tomcat output. The full version is
appended below to my message:

I can tell that someone is trying to access via GET method, and
default.ida(?) or is it downloading somestuff somewhere in the net?

I believe it can be somehow related to the recent worm scare at win2k.
Is someone trying to implant a worm in my computer, or is this something
tomcat, win2k, is vulnerable to ?
I haven't seen anything wrong with my computer yet... but I guess I should
start a full visurs scan

Thankx!
Any help/light is appreciated
Regards
Kas
