dbcp pool size

2003-11-06 Thread meissa . Sakho

hi all,

I have configured my dbcp connection pool like the fragment
below.

 usernamemailer
 passwordmail2002
maxActive3
driverClassName
  com.sybase.jdbc2.jdbc.SybDriver
url

jdbc:sybase:Tds:s198000BLAHBLAH:5000/intranet_mail

I don't know why, but the pool size is always increasing.

I've tried the maxActive parameter unsucessfully.

I've search the list before posting this question.
But I've found no cure to my problem.

Any help to detect what's missing in my config would
be greetly appreciated.

Agree. There isn't a default factory class because the class IS
BasicDataSourceFactory if you look at the tomcat code (correct me if I am
wrong).

2003-11-08 Thread Kenneth
Sorry, but I'm quite new to this, and I'd like to know if I'm doing it OK.
I'm using dbcp with mySQL and I always specify this parameter:

factory
org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSourceFactory

Is this OK? Will I get the same error Meissa does?

Thanks.

2003-11-07 Thread meissa . Sakho

when I request the 21st connection when there are 20 active connection,
the pool size grow to 21 and so and so.
And when the pool size reach the maximum number of connection authorized
by the database server. Boom !

I have to restart tomcat and re initialize the pool.

I did not say the the pool obeys to anything without factory.
I simply want to know if it's a dbcp bug the the pool size is growing
without any
limit or if my configuration misses something.

Pilllip,
I've posted the question to the common list too.
And I'm still waiting for a suggestion.
If you have a solution, please let me know.
I I've not set the factory parameter because is it the BasicDataSourceFactory .
I don't see the reason why my pool size is growing with no limit.

Do you think a factory name is mandatory?

Howdy,
Perhaps a factory class name in your resource params? ;)

hi all,

I have configured my dbcp connection pool like the fragment
below.

usernamemailer
passwordmail2002

maxActive3

  driverClassName

com.sybase.jdbc2.jdbc.SybDriver

  url

jdbc:sybase:Tds:s198000BLAHBLAH:5000/intranet_mail

I don't know why, but the pool size is always increasing.

I've tried the maxActive parameter unsucessfully.

I've search the list before posting this question.
But I've found no cure to my problem.
Any help to detect what's missing in my config would
be greetly appreciated.
Meissa

I highly recommend you drop off dbcp and pool version 1.1 to
${catalina.home}/common/lib and remove old version from that directory
before we go any further into the pool discussion.
