I guess you can consider the version of Tomcat 5.0.x stable that is listed on 
the download-page
http://jakarta.apache.org/site/downloads/downloads_tomcat-5.cgi
and does not contain an appendix like -beta, -alpha or similar.

the latest stable release?

section Tomcat 4.x) still shows the latest stable release is 4.1.18 as
opposed to 4.1.24. Is there any specific reason for that or just that page
has not been updated? Thanks in advance.
