Topband: Using CAT5 cable for a beverage?
I wonder if anyone has any thoughts on the use of CAT5 cable for a beverage, in fact more specifically for a two way beverage? CAT5 consists of 4 balanced pairs of approx 100 ohms impedance. I was wondering if the first pair could be used as the antenna and with some relay switching done by the second pair, the third pair could be used to feed the signal back from the far end? Is that pie in the sky or would it float? Thanks Tracey G5VU _ Topband Reflector
Topband: My Source of RFI...
Hi Guys, If you'll recall my request for help ID'ing the ...daily-at-7:30-AM-sharp RFI that I'm experiencing here on 160-meters, a number of respondents suggested that it's probably my northern neighbour's treadmill machine... Well, I think you were correct! I just stumbled upon this sound snippet from the ARRL: http://www.arrl.org/files/file/RFI%20Sounds/treadmill.mp3 My noise matches that recorded almost to a tee---especially the last half... Thanks for everyone's input... ~73~ de Eddy VE3CUI - VE3XZ _ Topband Reflector

Topband: DSL Filter
I just got and installed a Westek TC-Z100B1 DSL filter as mentioned by KV4FZ here several days ago. To my amazement it works, I had tried a lot of other things. Running 1kw, to both an inv. L and inv V. Thanks Norm K8TVD _ Topband Reflector
Topband: solarwind and 160 prop
hi reflectees ! As we all know, the effects of the solar wind are strongly determining 160m propagation. It seems that solely watching A and K indexes plus the SFI is not helping much in propagation predictions, at least not for 160. We all tried that and failed in it. Now is the critical factor whether the polarity of the arriving solar wind, developing the interplanetary mag field , fits the earth mag field or not. becuase if it does, the influence is by far greater than without it. Question is, where do i find that info ?? I think this might stir up some geophysicist - hopefully. Surely the information derived that way is not as easy to grasp as a simple number, but it may be the only way to further the cause. 73 de wolf df2py _ Topband Reflector
