Re: Topband: Wire for 2 wire BOG
I've used "Low Voltage Landscape Lighting Wire" - available at Home Improvement stores and on the Internet. It is UV rated wire, the lightest gauge should be fine. Works fine for me with the KD9SV R-BOG system and much easier to work with than the army surplus telephone wire. 73 Lloyd - N9LB _ Searchable Archives: http://www.contesting.com/_topband - Topband Reflector
Topband: Wire for 2 wire BOG
So what is the recommended 2 wires conductor/cable for a 2 wire reversible BOG? More specifically what can I get at the big-Box home supply? I have heard of folks trying twisted pair doorbell wire, I have heard of folks getting old military field wire at the surplus places. i really don't have any surplus places close by and I would rather use something easily available rather than mail order. Will ZIP cord work? I suspect the UV survivability of ZIP cord is not great here in Florida, but cheap and easy to replace every two years Dave NR1DX -- Dave manu...@artekmanuals.com www.ArtekManuals.com --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus _ Searchable Archives: http://www.contesting.com/_topband - Topband Reflector
Re: Topband: 160 portable vertical
Where in the Caribbean? Conditions and antenna requirements are much different depending where you go. As you go south it becomes more noisy and of course you're further from the target areas. One portable antenna that can work well is a kite. I have have tried them several times off the beach but had trouble keeping them in the air while operating.
