Re: Topband: Low band Systems - Russia
Tracey, My Low Band receieve system built on LBS devices. It includes BV matching for single direction and reversible. But core of my system is control box which makes switching very easy. My requirement was to use BV switching when I am on site and remotely from city lot. So it does it and I am happy owner for many years. Reverse BV system include twisted line BV. It has some limitation due to line losses. BV I use is about 600 ft long. For longer lines reverse direction too attenuated in my case. My open line BV works great for 1200 ft + without any attenuation on reverse side. My only concern was water protection. When I seal LBS matching units with sealant than I don't have to worry any more. I have few single direction Beverages from DX Engineering and K9AY matching which works great too. I followed that about a week later with an email to his gmail address and still no answer I am interested in his Reversible Beverage antenna, using coax for the antenna, but have some questions before risking making a purchase. 73s Tracey G5VU _ Topband Reflector Archives - http://www.contesting.com/_topband _ Topband Reflector Archives - http://www.contesting.com/_topband
Re: Topband: K5P good job !
Dedicated operation on 160! Very pationed operator and great ears. Heard few station from Central Asia got through and even UA4. Many JA's. Best report is 599 on my QTH. Two peaks. 30 minutes before their SR for about 10 minutes and another peak right on SR time. Re: Topband: Help put Haiti on topband
For Central Asia - 12,500 km and polar pass.Very short time of common darkness. That would be a real challenge. No chances unless direct calls for Asia on our greyline. It will be a great fight! :) 73, -- Regards, Nodir Tursoon-Zadeh EY8MM http://www.ey8mm.com/ On Wed, Oct 8, 2014 at 8:50 AM, DALE LONG wrote: > > > Hi Merv: > > We will try to look for everyone. Re: Topband: PT0S DXpedition
Excellent approach George! Have a safe trip! We expect to arrive on the rocks the morning of Nov 09. The first to go up will be the 160 m station, which we hope to get on the air that evening. Our plan is to TX somewhere around 1816.5 kHz and listen up 2 to 5 for EU/NA, and between 1822 and 1825 for JA-s. PT0S will be very challanging for JA-s (and other Asian stations) on 160. They will have to work through a very long path, close to the Auroral region, and over (really, under) much stronger EU signals. To give the JA-s a chance, EU and NA stations please do not call us between 1822 and 1825. Your consideration will be much appreciated. We will be located on the main rock, called Belmonte, where we expect very high levels of local noise from the various scientific equipment. We are planning to build two remote RX antennas on one of the remote rocks (called Cabral) and run the coax and control cables under water. These RX antennas should be up by the 11th or 12th of November. We hope they will improve our ability to copy weak signals.
