Re: Topband: OT - LG Dryer RFI
There must be a List somewhere of Electromagnetic Compatible electrical appliances. I asked around at my Radio Club and Ham friends for recommendations for a split-system a/c and a Solar Inverter. I often hear of other radio amateurs whose enjoyment of the hobby is ruined by a neighbour installing noisy garbage LED lighting, and solar inverters etc. FYI, the Fujitsu inverter split system a/c has been good so far (installed by radio club member too), and Huawei smart inverter has not caused any problems yet. It's kinda, "you gets what you pays for", i.e., don't get the cheapest, but not always. Good luck, Luke VK3HJ On 22/11/2020 6:52 am, donro...@hiwaay.net wrote: Amy other "RFI kit" experiences ? We only use a solar powered clothes dryer, aka Hills Hoist. Never a problem with RFI. 73, Luke VK3HJ _ Searchable Archives: http://www.contesting.com/_topband - Topband Reflector

Hi Bob, Well I'm getting old so laundry is already a daytime chore. With just the two of us here and the covid out there laundry is less demanding. I just have to keep us in clean pajamas. I was prepared to go into the new machines to install any needed partsvbut mine are behaving without that effort. Big signs on them say Made in the USA so maybe they already have the parts installed. I suppose I did pay a little more for them. There are microcontrollers in just about everything these days - even toasters and coffee pots. We have to learn how to live with them whether we want to or not. 73, Bill KU8H bark less - wag more On 11/21/20 4:21 PM, Robert Urban wrote: Just discovered today, our new LG dryer wipes out the 160m band. I have a DLEX357OV front loading LG here. About 3 years old? It's quit as far as I know although my antennas are about 250' from the house, and I put 3 big clamp-on type 31 ferrites at the cable exit from the dryer just as a token preventative. 73/jeff/ac0c alpha-charlie-zero-charlie www.ac0c.com On 11/21/20 1:52 PM, donro...@hiwaay.net wrote: Amy other "RFI kit" experiences ? Re: Topband: OT - LG Dryer RFI
I have a Whirlpool front loading washer and dryer here. I had the factory send a technician out and they installed the RFI suppression kit on both of them. They argued a bit with me about the installation and the cost of the parts. As I left it I paid for the kit and they did the install for free on both units. I can just barely hear the fact that they're running if I really listen and I am using an indoor loop. Outside I hear no difference. The service technician also told me that on these modern dryers unless you're going right from the vent outlet through the wall behind the dryer you need a booster blower inline. My dryer vents through a rooftop vent so I installed a blower-type booster inline with the vent in the attic. That made a huge difference in the dryer run time. It's pressure sensing so you install it and forget it. It comes with a small panel display you can mount if you want to and that lets you know it's started or if you ever need to clean it (I have never had to do that). I also had 2 Trane air conditioning compressors and air handler/gas furnaces installed to replace failing older systems, all variable speed. I had contacted Trane about the RFI kits on both of the compressor units and both of the air handlers before I bought them.
