Topband: VP8STI last night in Oregon
Tree, the conditions to VP8 were much worse last night to my location. I did not hear them at all last night where I had heard them briefly the night before. In addition, the storm noise to the SE was quite noticeable. Dan W5XZ in TX confirmed that he had bad storm static in the area. I checked all directions and even horizontal with a low dipole. NADA. No real copy on VP8STI here in central CA on TB either night. The BEST I've been able to hear on my K9AY loop has been a very few brief periods of pips and squeaks in the noise that MAY have been VP8STI, but not even enough to discern a '5NN' or anything close to legible copy. Pretty much the same both nights of VP8STI TB operation. VP8STI had a strong signal here on 80m their first night on 80 (20 Jan) and was armchair copy for much of that evening. Maybe tonight... GL to all still in the hunt. Tree, Thanks for the info. Didn't hear a peep last night here in Napa County on 80 or160. Yes if it was easy wouldn't it be as rewarding. ! I managed to work them on 40CW a couple of nights ago and I'm in the log wahoo !! That was my one and only contact and I consider myself lucky. :-) 73, Bob K6UJ On 1/22/16 6:57 AM, Tree wrote: At least in my location - I would say that things were no better last night. At least in my location - I would say that things were no better last night. N6SS in Arizona said he worked them just after 0400Z. There was also a report that he came back to N6MB about 10 times around 0430Z - but N6MB was not hearing him.
