 I don' think adding `libstdc++` to `LD_LIBRARY_PATH` is needed to make
 `RPATH` unavailable as the comment suggests. What about leaving the line
 you changed alone and adding two new ones like

 So, hmm, I think it's safe to assume that we're the only users of this
 release. But just in case somebody else runs their own Onionoo server and
 has never contacted us yet, what's the worst thing that can happen? It
 will take about a week for their responses to all follow the specification
 again. The only reason why we're using the tool from #27039 is to speed up
 this process. So, not using the tool is only about as bad as deploying the
 new release one week later. I'd think it's sufficient to mention your
 instructions on #27039 in the release announcement on the mailing list.

 But if you feel strongly about this, we can also rewrite the change log
 and prepare another pre-release tarball. It'll take 10 minutes more. Up to
 you!

 Thanks for the review (and it counts as one :) ). We don't use
 `merge_ready`, thus just leaving state is fine.

 Regarding your two points:

 1) The design doc currently specifies the state of Tor Browser 7.0. Once
 we update it to 8.0 mentioning the pref will be removed.

 2) Yes, once we fetch the updated localized files they won't have the
 string in it anymore after it's gone in the `en` version. Thus, we are
 good here.

 The torbutton commit got applied to `master`
 (e950aeac23670983bedd84c6526bb9a865450a25) and the tor-browser one to

 The `https-everywhere-disabled` test is checking that some http URL is not
 redirected to https when HTTPS Everywhere is disabled. To disable HTTPS
 Everywhere we set the pref `extensions.https_everywhere.globalEnabled` to
 false, however this does not work anymore with the WebExtensions version.

 I wonder what Mozilla's stance is here. If that's obsolete with GeckoView
 coming it seems to me the approach we pick should not matter much

 libmar uses in fact _ftelli64/_fseeki64 due to defines in mar_private.h.
 Those are not available on old msvcrt.dll, so mingw-w64 has its own
 implementation:
 
https://github.com/mirror/mingw-w64/blob/master/mingw-w64-crt/stdio/fseeko64.c#L133
 I can't see anything obviously wrong there, but in general it does a lot
 of stuff that really should be done by MS crt in fact. An ideal solution
 would be to use ucrt-based toolchain (ucrtbase.dll always provides those
 functions) and disable mingw-w64 implementation for them. I may take a
 look at mingw-w64 part of it, but changing to ucrt toolchain is an
 invasive change for Tor build system.

 As a less radical solution could be using fseek64 and ftello64. Those are
 much thinner wrappers in mingw-64 around msvcrt.dll. You could try that by
 changing defines in mar_private.h

 The patch looks good, but like #27113 I definitely think this change would
 benefit from some release notes in addition to the changelog. In
 particular, we should point out where to change the servlet mapping in
 `web.xml` and possibly also give a private address for people to contact
 if we've broken their private Exonerator deployment (I guess there are
 some that wouldn't want to mail a mailing list).

 Ah this is a good point, the browser will probably fail to restart on the
 systems where our version of `libstdc++` is required.

 I am wondering if we could update `LD_LIBRARY_PATH` in the same way as the

 Are you sure this does not break Linux users during an update? Because the
 update process is not touching `LD_LIBRARY_PATH` (see:
 comment:10:ticket:13359) it seems to me after removing the `libstdc++`
 from the old location and adding it to the new one there is the risk that
 Tor Browser won't start anymore as `LD_LIBRARY_PATH` is still pointing to
 the old one.

 fallback code, which hasn't been written yet.

 You can log a BUG() warning and fail the connection when there's no
 reachable address. We can write the 3-hop fallback code later in #23818.
