Comment (by amiableclarity2011):

Today, in China, I tried to connect to Tor network through snowflake
bridge for 10 times. All of the connections failed. I upload my state
file. Thank you very much for your help. I really appreciate it.

Comment (by eighthave):

Ok, my merge+modernize work is pretty much done. I'll be using this to
 complete ''TorService''. Here's my fork:

 * https://gitlab.com/eighthave/jtorctl

 It includes:

 * all commands in 0.4.1.6 implemented
 * new `RawEventListener` API for getting all events, and adding multiple
 listeners
 * script to generate updates based on Tor source code
 * generated `String` constants for commands, events, signals, etc.
 * new test suite that actually runs `/usr/bin/tor`
 * runs CI in GitLab on Java 8/11/14:
 https://gitlab.com/eighthave/jtorctl/pipelines/99600247
 * generates javadoc and deploys to GitLab Pages:
 https://eighthave.gitlab.io/jtorctl/
 * builds with gradle and Android Studio
 * release artifacts use version from git tag e.g. `git describe`
 * builds jar, javadoc, sources, and POM:
 https://gitlab.com/eighthave/jtorctl/-/jobs/365437657/artifacts/download
 * builds with gradle 4.4.1 in Debian/buster and `./gradlew`.

 Still needs:
 * a complete test suite, look at ''stem'' library for examples
 * some crasher bugs in some events, for example `EVENT_HS_DESC_CONTENT`
 * util/helper methods for parsing the data structures from events

Let's only delete the files with snowflake-ips-total. I want to keep the
others around since they have useful data about the broker migration.

If you mean whether there is some automatic nightly build that includes
this then no, I think for that the commits would have to be reviewed and
 accepted first.

In UI terms, we are good to go for me. Let me add some comms people to the
loop so we can review the copy text.

Since FF70, the green locks at the URL bar are gone. The current Firefox
approach to security indicators is detailed here[1]. Chrome is leading
 towards this intention, too[2].

As part of S27, I'm working on unifying (and simplifying) the brand
presence of onions in Tor Browser, either for referring to the network or
 to the onion services.

I'm opening this ticket to discuss the following:

 - are we ok following the Firefox approach and removing green icons from
 the URL bar?
 - are we ok unifying the visual anchor for onions and onion routing at the
URL bar and also at the circuit display?
 - are we ok removing EV label from the URL bar and leave it at the
 identity doorhanger?

 Video [https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/raw-
attachment/ticket/21952/21952%2B2.webm here]. Note: I did not implement
the lock -> onion animation when redirecting, as my understanding is that
is not yet decided. For the same reason, for now I also kept the
OnionLocation prefs in the `Security/Privacy` section.

Comment:

Revised branch for review in https://github.com/acatarineu/tor-
 browser/commits/21952+2.

I split the changes into two commits for reviewing purposes, UI and
"internals" needed for the http redirect. For the internals, I used a
couple of flags (`LOAD_FLAGS_ONION_REDIRECT` and `LOAD_ONION_REDIRECT`)
the value of which I think is not used anywhere else. But as I said, I'm
not sure if it would be better to rewrite that commit and use the
`redirectTo` JavaScript API instead. For the UI, you'll see that the
notification title does not look exactly the same as in

https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/attachment/ticket/21952/21952%20-%20UI%20Review.png.
But I tried to use only the JS API to save a few lines of css and markup,
and thought this was close enough to be acceptable. But feel free to
insist if you still think the notification should be closer to
 `UI_review.png` one. I'll update with build + snapshot/video later.

Ah, I noticed just now that this ticket needs action again.

So, I looked at the files that CollecTor archived in the past 4-5 weeks.
Can you tell me which of them I should delete? Some cases seem obvious

Comment (by JeremyRand):

Most of the nonreproducibility seems to be in the `go/pkg/obj/go-build`
directory. Google's official binary packages don't even include this
directory. Is that directory necessary for anything? If it's not
necessary, would a patch be accepted that removes that directory from the
 output?

Comment:

With #31204 being implemented this ticket is no longer relevant. We need
to check every two minutes for changed files ''and'' for completed index
tasks. We shouldn't mess with this schedule by starting another check at
the end of each module runs. It takes at least two minutes anyway for new
files to show up in `index.json`. We can simply close this ticket as
something we won't implement. Doing so.

 > Yes, but it seemed to me Pili's idea was to write something up on our
website (which we should do) and then *link* to it from the browser. I
don't see how that second part should work given that the users
encountering the problems we plan to write about don't have a functioning
Tor Browser which could follow that link. So, we rather need to include
help directly into Tor Browser (which reminds me at shipping the Tor
Browser manual inside Tor Browser in particular for users that have
trouble to get Tor Browser going, which we have tried to do for years
 now).

I'm happy with whatever form the solution takes as long as users are able
to get some troubleshooting information for this error

Mobile got Pointer Events support in
 [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1507495 GeckoView based on
 mozilla70] and [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1492775 we
don't have a defense against that yet]. Thus, we should leave them
disabled for now so that nothing falls through the cracks here, in
particular once we switch to Fenix and revisit the decision later on.

in #13543. I made a note on #16678 as changes might affect this bug and
filed an investigated #31954. I skimmed

power preference in this bug is not a problem for us.

Technically speaking this is not correct. Interaction Media Features got
 implemented inlcuding `pointer`/`hover` (see:
 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1035774 and
 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1483111). However, thanks to
Mozilla engineers fingerprinting issues have been taken into account right
from the beginning. So, once resist fingerprinting mode is on a mouse-type
pointer is given back. It seems to me this holds for mobile, too, which we
might want to revisit (tjr mentioned it should be touchscreen values there
 (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1035774#c25)).

Apply for funding to get an AMD ThreadRipper 3970X 32 cores 64 threads
beast (or wait for 2020 when the 3990X 64 cores 128 threads BEAST comes
 out).

Comment (by cypherpunks):

GeoIP Lite Database doesn't have 100% reliability, and even if you get 3
relays in the same country that's not a concern for most threat models.
That said there's another serious ticket for ASN aware routing, so you
close this as a duplicate I'd say.
