Re: [tor-relays] tor-relays Digest, Vol 35, Issue 25
i don't know, who knows how tor-weather sends the t-shirt e-mail. i took a look at the code and found that the mail is sent after 1464 hours of uptime (=61 days), checking every hour. according to this the downtime due to updates is really not that relevant. i'd guess that there are approx. 3 or 4 updates in the required 2 months, which would cost you an equivalent amount of hours. i don't think that it matters whether you get your mail 3 or 4 hours later. so i think the algorithm is fine. Re: [tor-relays] Tor Weather getting T-shirt email. Problem
I've run several middle relays for over a year but they keep getting knocked down due to circuit creation storms (on RPIs) or powercuts or updates or some other issue. Yes uptime is important, but 100% is not practical for most relay operators. Also, if you want a shirt so badly, donate to Tor! In fact, I just realised I do want a shirt! Re: [tor-relays] Tor Weather getting T-shirt email. Problem
I agree there should be another way. I just recently had to start overhttps://atlas.torproject.org/#details/9748228B9BC40C154F74AA9EDFDF698B902C986Fbecause I updated Tor. I don't plan on updating again until two months have passed. Re: [tor-relays] Tor Weather getting T-shirt email. Problem
I donated to Tor a few times because I couldn't use Linux, a VPS, or get past the port problems from home. Donations of cash are far better than using volunteers to send a partly profitable t-shirt.After the threshold of my first relay (an exit on a Windows VPS) Tor weather promised a t-shirt which seemed a fair trade. Learning and restarting after daily stoppages of the VPS took much time. The t-shirt was to be symbolic of commitment to Tor ideals in a small way. Donations of time and VPS hire to expand the network are better than cash donations to Tor, I feel. Now after numerous relays and exits, copyright threats and pleadings, and many hours and $ a t-shirt or mug would mean the commitment to the ideals was recognised.Tor Weather hasn't registered it but it should have to ensure encouragement to broaden the network.[IMO] The t-shirt or whatever should be a good design such as Jacob wore at 30c3 rather than the the current one.Robert -Original Message-From: th6...@gmail.comSent: Mon, 30 Dec 2013 18:14:04 +To: tor-relays@lists.torproject.orgSubject: Re: [tor-relays] Tor Weather getting T-shirt email. Re: [tor-relays] Tor Relay Operators Meeting at 30c3 Chaos Communication Congress
Moritz Bartl: Torservers.net invites Tor exit relay operators and organizations to a meetup. If possible/relevant, for example if you're a member of one of the 'Torservers partner organizations', please prepare some slides on your activities. We will do quick presentations on recent and future activities around Torservers.net. Could every organizations who presented something send [1] a link to their slides? I remember also that NoiseTor gave an update without slides. Were there any other organizations who did the same? Thanks everyone who attended. It was super exciting to see all these projects commited to grow the Tor network who started this past year. :) [1] That can be done privately, I'll do a report it on tor-reports or on the next Tor Weekly News, but I need links, not attachements. -- Lunar lu...@torproject.org signature.asc Description: Digital signature ___ tor-relays mailing list tor-relays@lists.torproject.org https://lists.torproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tor-relays
