Please send us Tor's log output.

You will probably need to send Tor's log output to a file,
then paste that file to a pastebin service like
https://paste.debian.net

If you try to see tor's logs in a command shell, you get a blank line,
because of this bug:

This ticket is not yet implemented.

But some kinds of DNS failures will cause Tor exits to reject all
exit traffic, see ServerDNSTestAddresses and
ServerDNSDetectHijacking in:
https://www.torproject.org/docs/tor-manual.html.en

I am not sure if this DNS check checks for hijacking.

But it looks like the issue was an overlong or overbroad exit policy.

[tor-relays] Configuring relay

2018-11-11 Thread DeMarcus Sullivan
I am running the latest version on Tor 8.0.3 on my Windows desktop. I would
like to run a non-exit relay 24/7 and I'm having trouble finding the
step-by-step process to do so. Before I could just copy amd paste the torrc
configuration text in the torrc file. It seems that has changed because now
Tor won't run properly when I change the torrc file.

It just has to be said: Creating a single-host Let's Encrypt cert is
very easy on Debian Linux, which you seem to be using. Install Certbot,
shutdown Apache, run Certbot, modify Apache's certificate path settings,
start Apache. I'd offer to do it for you, but somehow I doubt you'll
grant me root access to your server. ;-)

No pressure.

thanx for all the flowers :-)

I took the ssl certificate expiration 11/06 as an occasion to
discontinue the service. Actually behind the scenes everything is still
running. The mysql db is fed with Tor live data. Only the Apache config
prevents access. I'm just too lazy to renew the ssl certificate or to
switch to letsencrypt and I declined offers sell the site.
