[tor-relays] Relay Bandwidth/Burst Change
I set torrc bandwidth/Burst to 5 MBs/6MBs respectively Then I get @7pm Local: Received reload signal (hup). Reloading config and resetting internal state. Read configuration file "/usr/share/tor/tor-service-defaults-torrc". Read configuration file "/etc/tor/torrc". After the above happens I'm back to Kb second. If I understand correctly, torrc is the 'go to' default and those settings [*should be*] used. So why is the bandwidth/Burst being changed? Which is REALLY annoying. There must be another setting somewhere in Tor that I am missing? [tor-relays] My Family
Hi - I'm running three relays. Is it necessary to list all three relays in my family on each relay? Thank you! :-) ___ tor-relays mailing list tor-relays@lists.torproject.org https://lists.torproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tor-relays

[tor-relays] relay monitoring
How would I continuously monitor the incoming traffic to my relay, both what's supposed to be there and what isn't. Kathi ___ tor-relays mailing list tor-relays@lists.torproject.org https://lists.torproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tor-relays
[tor-relays] Relay Control
What actually controls the tor relay? TORRC or nyx? I realize NYX is a 'monitor'. However nyx allows for command line changes; i.e bandwidth/ports etc. thanks ___ tor-relays mailing list tor-relays@lists.torproject.org https://lists.torproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tor-relays
[tor-relays] Relay Name Change
I changed the name of my relay nick name from to (Correct Name) after I got it to operate correctly. The relay was in operation when I did the change. I went into the menu in NYX, clicked reset tor. The relay has been up eighteen hours as of this writing. Its flags are: Fast, Running, V2Dir, Valid.1,911 circuits open and 2709 outbound, 20,670 connections on Ivp4 Tor Metrics shows only (Correct Name) isn't shown when searched How long does it take for the name change to take effect? sysop ___ tor-relays mailing list tor-relays@lists.torproject.org https://lists.torproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tor-relays

How do I change the time on my tor relay to local time? I'm not into the military/UTC thing at all. It's actually annoying for me. thanks for help!! ___ tor-relays mailing list tor-relays@lists.torproject.org https://lists.torproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tor-relays
[tor-relays] Cookie Authorization files
I have no Idea where to go with this, a little help please! :-) I'm trying to set up and operate a bridge. Thank You for any help!! [tor-relays] Debian-tor Vs User
Switch from root to user = su usrname >Password. The problems start when I try and su to debian-tor. First I get a query for a password which it doesn't have. So I make a pass for debian-tor and enter it when I su to debian-tor. I enter whoami and the response is: user and not debian-tor. With or without a password it doesn't work. Secondly, if I su debia-tor > passwrd - sudo -u debian-tor nyx it produces a page and a half of pure gibberish. Sudo -i to root and enter nyx, it operates perfectly; and yes I understand I shouldn't run nyx as root. How do I become debian-tor so I can operate my bridge correctly? [tor-relays] Relay Or/Dirport Unreachable
Plan: Configure relay on local cable connection (Century Link). The idea is to have the relay proofed operational the way I want it and then move it (torrc) to a droplet after it has been in operation for three days. Doing this saves cost in downloading to the droplet. Modem Zyxel C3000 _was_ set to port forward on 9001, 9030, and 9050 IP 192.XXX.X.X Turn off UpnP (plug and play) GUFW is set to allow the above ports – reload to allow changes after much struggling/research to open ports 9001/9030 nc -zv 127.0.0.1 9001/9030 Connection to 127.0.0.1 9001 port [tcp/*] succeeded! <9030 also> Alrighty then! Tor –verify-config No complaints NOTE: I know tor.Nyx should not be run as root, I get that. Tor/Nyx are running as root. I don’t know how to use debian-tor as usr. Nyx shows in it’s configuration as usr debian-tor. Su debian-tor produces a rollover back to root usr prompt. service tor start Nyx – No complaints, running as default. After just two minutes of operation the relay was running at 2 MB/s with bursts up to 3 MB/s. After the obligatory/frustrating twenty minute wait for or/dirport hand shaking I get:orport/dirport unreachable…. Adnauseum! Changed IP address to one given by tor, still unreachable. Lastly, I removed the 900l/9030 ports from the modem and installed 6969 as the orport. Changed GUFW, verified the changes took place, changed ip to real world IP 63.xxx.xxx.xxx in torrc. Hand shaking to the orport was almost immediate. Right now, the relay after twenty hours of operation is tortusing along at 20 B/s. Which to me is pure BS. Can someone give me some idea’s as to what I am doing wrong? Kathi ___ tor-relays mailing list tor-relays@lists.torproject.org https://lists.torproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tor-relays
