[tor-talk] How to set up a site on hidden service?

2011-08-10 Thread James Brown
I intend to set up a web-site under Tor hidden service.
I installed thttpd and set up that web-server and the tor-hidden server
as it disribed in
"https://www.torproject.org/docs/tor-hidden-service.html.en";
But when I put the CMS such as Drupal in my web-server directory I find
that I can see though my browser only the list of files in that
directory but not a Drupal site.
I have installed thttpd on my server with the next configuration:
$ cat thttpd.conf
port=80
host=localhost
user=www
dir=/path/to/dir
chroot
cgipat=*.cgi
logfile=/var/log/thttpd.log
pidfile=/var/run/thttpd.pid
It seems to me that for correct viewing of my Drupal site I need to make
the thttpd work with php and mysql but I don't find how do it neither in
the man page of the thttpd nor on the thttpd site.
How can I do that?

 after reading all ur conversation...

 for me i didnt understand a very important thing :
 how come a software or tools as Telex and is not anonymity??
 because the most of blocked sites by the governments are restricted also and
censored...

 so i dont think a software like Telex can work against these governments cause
no body is ready to loose his freedom

 couldn't resist - sorry
 "cause no body is ready to loose his freedom..."
 we're already losing our freedoms
 tor is about running and hiding

Achter, this isn't a reply to the topic, but an FYI on how your posts
show up (on my screen in Tbird).

Your reply (that I enlarged text & enclosed between astrisks **, just
shows up as part of the original quoted text. IOW, it's not
distinguished from any previous post at all, so doesn't appear to be a
NEW post or reply. * Don't know how it appears to others. * I'm
assuming if you wanted to insert comments at specific point, in the
middle of previous post(s), you hit enter to start new text that isn't
part of previous quoted replies? Your post / reply is 1st I've seen
this on - not sure why.

Since I don't know which email client you have (or using some webmail),
can't give specific suggestions. Usually w/ Tbird, if you place cursor
in quoted text, where want to insert reply (& have it show up distinctly
from earlier posts), hit enter - it "breaks" the earlier quoted post &
makes new text entered very distinct from quoted text.

This is just FYI - if have any questions, please ask. Maybe I or others
can make suggestions.
Another FYI - a Tbird addon I use to help reading msgs w/ multiple
quotes is "QUOTE COLORS."
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/quote-colors/
It makes it much easier to keep up w/ what text went w/ which author.
I'm sure other email clients * may * have similar addons.

Cheers.

[tor-talk] Shewstring v1.0.2 release

2011-08-10 Thread Shew
Hi everyone,

Shewstring v1.0.2 is now being released!

Here are the major changes:

* I2P has been fixed, and support has been dramatically improved
(with more than an order of magnitude increase in efficiency; wrapper
and jbigi work), thanks mostly to the I2P devs.
* Fix a major bug where wireless did not work due to a problem with
PF.
* Misc. XFCE improvements.
* Pidgin is now allowed to keep 'pounces.xml' across reboots.
* Added new Shew GPG key.
* Misc. bugfixes, tweaks and updates.

Regarding the regressions in the previous version:

* I2P has been fixed and improved to work better than before the
regression (see above).
* The window lag bug is not reproducible on other test machines.
This suggests to me that it is a FreeBSD driver regression, and not
something that I can fix. Let me know if you experience it too.

You can find more general information, and the actual release, here:

A little OT, for people who follow my blog: I have made a small post
about the new F/LOSS movement taking place on one of the Onionland
forums. Also my key has changed. More info reachable through the main
page of my blog:
