Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] IR blaster and Touch

2010-02-06 Thread fcm4711

Hi there

You'll be interested in this bug then I guess:
https://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=12997

Please read my comment #7 about some limitations regarding formats and
capabilities IR Blaster will have on SB Touch compared to what a SB
Classic or Transporter can do.

So if you need any of the features that SB Touch IR-Blaster will not
support I suggest you hold on to your trusty SB Classic or Transporter.

IR-Blaster is currently on the list of features for 7.5 (SB Touch
release) but as of today I cannot say if it will be ready for the first
release.

Felix

Hi Felix,

Will the RAW and RC5 receiving ever get fixed, or is it inherently
impossible?

Bit of a shame as a lot of European HiFi is RC5 codes.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Powered speakers for Touch

2010-02-06 Thread Kevin Haskins

I'm designing something for my personal use at home. I design
transducers and loudspeakers for a living so it isn't too hard for me to
put together something that fits my needs in terms of size and function.

I'm milling an aluminum base that goes on top of one loudspeaker and
holds the Sqeezebox Touch. It is an active design so the amps and DSP
are on the back of the loudspeaker. There is one wire that connects the
two and the signal stays in the digital domain until after the DSP where
it goes through the D/A converter and into the Class D amplification
stage. My wife didn't want anything but a remote and the speakers have
passed her small enough test. Once I finish I'd be happy to post
pictures and details.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Unofficial official Release Date

2010-02-06 Thread HectorHughMunro

I think that seems to be the current tag line for the Touch. I'm not
whining, I'm just pointing out that their current strategy doesn't
instill a lot of confidence in the product or in Logictech. That is,
they're featuring it prominently in marketing and soliciting pre-orders,
yet they can't provide a release date or any official information about
the delay. I want the Touch to be what those like you with faith in it
assume it will be. But, right now, it's just a phantom product that may
or may not be any good.

Seriously, any information from Logitech other than just trust us and
pre-order now would go a long way towards gaining some confidence in
 Logitech and the product.

Brian's point is a good one. Having taken our orders, Logitech have a
moral contract contract with us that is at the edge of being breached. I
shouldn't be finding out from Engadget that my order is further
delayed.

We're months overdue now without any kind of email from the company.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] 24/192

2010-02-06 Thread DaveWr

I hope you realise that Logitech are not supporting USB DAC outputs,
only storage devices - discs and USB sticks. You will need John
Swenson's Applet to achieve your goals, or you are back to SPDIF.

2010-02-06 Thread JohnSwenson

Well I checked out the ALSA driver on the Touch today and it does NOT
support 192.

So it looks like it will need to be modified to handle 192.
