ie, the 'no webUI' only applies to when you plug media into the Touch
and use the Touch's own server.

So no web ui applies to media found on a usb drive directly connected
to the Touch and also on an inserted card?

Workaround: could I install SS on the laptop, and tell it the music
files are found on an NAS (i.e, the music files are on the NAS and not
on the laptop with the full SS install), define the Touch the same way
(music folder is NAS), and then control the touch from the web
interface on the Laptop?

Yes, it applies when no using your own Squeezebox Server.

Yes, that would work fine.

Yes Squeezeplay is another solution, it will allow you to run a version
of the Touch UI on your laptop that can control the Touch (and any other
SB player) whether or not the Touch is running without a separate
Squeezebox Server.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] How good is the DAC in the touch ?

2010-04-06 Thread raven22

The V-DAC is known to improve the original digital input. If the input
is of better quality the output will improve as well.
So i quess that a Touch in combination with a v-dac sounds better then
a sb3 with a v-dac, assuming the Touch has a better digital out then
the sb3.
I have a v-dac and sb3 as well and i am interested to know if my above
assumption is true.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Release date touch 10th of april

2010-04-06 Thread Hofstede

The Wifimedia shop is a Dutch shop/website. One of the warehouses of
Logitech in Europe is in the Netherlands. In the past when I ordered
from Logitechs European website the package was delivered to me the
next day. And in the Netherlands UPS is one of the few shipping
companies that does not deliver on a Saturday, the others do, even
without extra charge.
So if Logitech ships on Friday, the shop will have them in on Saterday.
Note that the shop is not saying the release date is on Saturday, they
only state that they will get there first batch of Touches in on
Saturday.

But it all comes down to one thing: Either you believe the shop or you
don't. We'll see.

Oh and about working more than 40 hours per week: Why work more if you
don't need to? :)

For those that don't know, the European convention for specifying dates

Do you have r8673 on your Controller now? If no, then either wait for
your SBS 7.5 to pull it down or shut SBS down, restart your PC/Server,
restart SBS and it should pull it down.

[SlimDevices: Touch] 3.0TB USB drive on Touch?

2010-04-06 Thread krochat

I'm considering building a 3.0TB external USB drive for use with the
Touch. This would done with a dual USB enclosure that has support for
SPAN/BIG and/or RAID 0 and two 1.5TB drives. The controller in the
enclosure would present a single 3.0TB partition to the Touch.

It appears that I can format a single 3.0TB partition with either NTFS
(using GPT on Windows 7) or with Linux ext2/3.

Does anyone know of either of these file system formats will work with
the Touch?

Thanks,
Kim

It also would have been smarter to use the right hand to demonstrate
