[SlimDevices: Touch] Short audio gap 10 seconds before end of song
Hi all, I'm very much enjoying my Touch for a few weeks now. First I was using the TinySC because the Touch (together with the amp and the speakers) were the first things in the new flat. ;-) Since my server and wifi have arrived, I'm using the Touch as pure player. My impressions so far are very satisfied. Like a well-known German audio magazine reviewed recently: The only drawback of the Squeezbox Touch is, that it will result in further Squeezebox purchases. ;-) Right, just that for me the Boom was the starter. Of course there are minor wishes here and there, but nothing serious and nothing which cannot be solved by plugins. Well, two open issues for me: Syncing with my Boom sometimes works and sometimes does not, I have yet to find out the pattern. The second thing, which I'm seeking for input with this posting right now, is the fact that I get a very short but audible gap in playback exactly 10 seconds before the end of a song if another song is in the queue. This happens with the Touch's TinySC and with the Touch as pure player. I tracked it down to the fade in, fade out setting. If I set it to off, then this gap does not occur. My library consists of mostly Ogg Vorbis (old ripped files), a few MP3 (mostly Amazon purchases) and FLAC (recent rips). I have not yet found a pattern (whether it only happens fading from one type to another or only within the same type, etc.). What is clear however, are the facts that it occurs in fade in, fade out mode only, affects the Touch (not the Boom), and it happens using the Touch with its TinySC and as pure player. Any ideas? -- sbellon sbellon's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=22873 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79093 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Short addition: There is no gap if the next song in the queue is the next one on the same album. Most likely because then no fade out, fade in takes place anyway. -- sbellon sbellon's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=22873 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79093 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

I get the same issue with audio cutting out close to the end of a track. I tend to use the smart crossfade setting and do not have a problem with tracks that do not crossfade. Hello ! You are able to write on NTFS if you install : 1) MacFuse : http://code.google.com/p/macfuse/ 2) NTFS-3G : http://macntfs-3g.blogspot.com/2010/01/ntfs-3g-for-mac-os-x-2010116.html But you can write also directly from your mac if the SBT USB drive is on line (goto connect to server and type in : smb://192.168.0.7 and select sda1). While I would prefer HFS+, but Logitech does not support it. I would use NTFS, but (as of OS X 10.6.3) Mac OS CANNOT write NTFS natively (there is a hack but it has been reported as unstable) and I see reason to use 3rd party software to achieve it while FAT32 is working. FAT32 may not be the most efficient, but there is no reason to 'forget it'. Fragmentation is not an issue as my FLAC files are not re-written to the disk, and I do not have any 4g FLAC files. -- Tony T Tony #63743; SBTouch #9834; SBRadio #9836; Tony T's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=34544 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=78969 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
