Also be able to stream Internet radio stations (I have wireless). 4. Play all of the above through my receiver. Can I do that? YES! One of the best things about setting up a dedicated music server PC is that you need very minimal hardware, so an old desktop or even a wimpy modern setup running Atom processors will work fine. -- firedog Tranquil PC fanless WHS server running SqueezeServer; SB Touch slaved to Empirical Audio Pace Car; KRK Ergo, MF V DAC3, MF X-150 amp, Devore Gibbon Super 8 Speakers; Mirage MS-12 sub; Dual 506 + Ortofon 20 (occasional use); sometimes use PC with M-Audio 192 as digital source. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] How to reboot Touch?
magiccarpetride;585056 Wrote: Thanks. This button press at the back of Touch is not considered intrusive? What's the difference between that hardware reset and a simply unplug/plug in again? Short (1 second) press on the button restarts the Touch. It's like telling your PC to restart instead of shutdown. Works fine. No harm to Touch or your settings. Long press will restart the Touch but will restore factory (default) settings. You can't really do it by mistake, you have to press the button for quite a while. Restoring the default settings can be very useful if you are having problems and don't know why. If you go back to default and everything works then you know your particular setup was the cause. I've also used it once or twice when the Touch got confused after I made changes to my network. It was easier to just run the default settings and set the Touch up again from scratch that it was to mess around with it and try to get it to work. -- firedog Tranquil PC fanless WHS server running SqueezeServer; SB Touch slaved to Empirical Audio Pace Car; KRK Ergo, MF V DAC3, MF X-150 amp, Devore Gibbon Super 8 Speakers; Mirage MS-12 sub; Dual 506 + Ortofon 20 (occasional use); sometimes use PC with M-Audio 192 as digital source. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch with USB drive : mastering TinySB
jean2;589052 Wrote: From what I read, the Touch is quite picky about the hard drive it likes. You can check the various threads about that. You would need to give a bit more context about won't connect. Is it after pluging the HDD to the Touch ? Is it after powering on the Touch with the HDD attached ? Is it after leaving the Touch idle for some time ? A first indication would be to check the status of the server in the advanced options (where you enable/disable the internal server). After that, looking at the internal log, but that's beyond my knowledge. Jean Thanks Jean, it simply will not connect to usb no matter what order I turn it on. Ha, it now works. I chose the usb in the menu settings as you advised, instead of from the home screen. Thanks Jean. -- steveb steveb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=39600 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82070 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
