Other option is to just plug the USB drive into the Touch, no computer needed, but there are limitations in not using the full SBS server. I'm getting a Vortexbox Appliance to use with the SB. I plan on hardwiring everything as a dedicated music server, digital out to my Denon AVR, for FLAC files. I am not really interested in streaming to other areas of my home, but who knows. Downloading SB play and Server is my way off learning about SB. My first question now that I can navigate the SB player is how would I play 2 Beatle Albums at once out of the full catalogue? Oh, they'll breed, trust me. You can't have just one. And if you don't keep adding more then a big ugly guy wearing a SONOS t-shirt will show up at your door and smash your hi-fi gear. ;) On the actual Touch you would simply touch hold the album, a pop up screen appears, Add to End (of Playlist) is offered, repeat for next album. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] gave up with tinySBS but got improved sound
I understand where you chaps are coming from. I haven't experienced that many issues with TinySBS, but also feel that my Touch sounds better when it's got an external server providing the data, so have also gone back to that method. Whilst it is dissapointing that TinySBS is a bit second rate, look on the bright side, as a digital transport the Touch really is very very good. I've owned a modded Meridian 500 CD transport and believe that the Touch is better, and that's before I added a good linear PSU, which has moved the Touch on even further. -- Mr_Sukebe SB Touch, Meridian 568.2, Bel Canto Evo2i, Impulse Ta'us, Coherent system, audio-technica and Zanash cables, Stillpoints Mr_Sukebe's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10609 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=83555 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

[SlimDevices: Touch] USB drive as a server - keeps dropping connection
Hi there I was referred here by someone on the logitech boards and was wondering if you could help me. I am running a Squeezebox system (Touch, Radio, Boom) in my flat. The server is a USB hard-drive att to the Touch. It has maybe 30gb of music on it. Trouble is, it keeps failing. I am frequently - several times per hour - having to go to the Touch and restart the server. I can't figure out why, and when I restart, everything is fine for a while. Seems to happen a lot when I switch radio channels, but can also happen with music, or at just about any time. FYI I control the system with iPeng and SqueezePad. The good chap on the Logitech boards thought it might simply be that there's too many files on the USB it overwhelms the Touch server - is this likely..? I haven't tested stability with a smaller memory unit yet, and I don't have a PC I can always keep running as a server. Any help appreciated - it's such a great system when it works! thanks -- daytripper daytripper's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41800 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=83568 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Do not try and use it until it finishes its initial scan, this could be some time depending on how big your collection is.
