Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Problems waking up
Not sure about the server issues - try switching off the controller when you're not using it, it may be a connection issue there. As for your buffering, are you using wireless? This all sounds like poor wireless connection and network issues rather than issues with the Touch. What router are you using? I have had my setup for two years (Receiver then Touch) and almost all connection issues have been down to the router/network, an upgrade to a Netgear router and better server solved my problems, oh and going ethernet which was always my intention anyway but even with wireless there weren't any problems with a decent router. You should have been able too, this functionality has always been there, The Tiny server onboard the Touch can cater for a small amount of conected players too, the limit is no support for slimp3 or SB1 only newer players from SB2 and onwards . And not to many ,as the small cpu will wimper and die :) As noted selecting servers may not be obvius if you are new to it sometimes it may not work either for other reasons, but it should have worked before ? Some user have experienced that the server dies in the background then it obviusly will not be present for your other player either, hopefully logitech will get the onboard sever more stable, confusion and frustration is evident otherwise. -- Mnyb Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] How can I easily transfer playlists to Tiny SBS?
Mnyb and aubuti, Do you know where/how TinySC stores it's URL based Favorites? There is no Favorites folder nor OPML file when I look on my SD card. Yet somehow TinySC picked up my Favorites Folders and sub-Folders (guessing from SBS) at some point. But this is an outdated list and has been updated since on both SBS and MySB, yet TinySC still lists folders urls that I have long since discarded. Ikabob, Another oddity of TinySC (at least on mine) is when I go to Favorites, it lists the above mentioned outdated Favorites, but also shows On MySB.com 5 times? Four of these are empty, only one ever actually shows my real MySB Favorites. I'm guessing these empty folders are again getting picked up by TinySC somehow and just won't let them go. -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85913 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Once the automatic brightness level is set, that brightness level doesn't change when the Touch is being used. What the OP would like is for the screen to return get brighter when the Touch's screen is being used and then to return to the lower brightness level once the screen is no longer being used regardless of the light level within the room. And I agree that this would be a very useful feature. This is bang on the money as to what I'm trying to achieve. The issue with setting the minimum brightness to minimum is that whilst you're using the squeezebox, the display then seems dull and lifeless which is not what you want whilst in use - however, while it's sitting there idle the brightness becomes more distracting then useful. -- smithkyle1992 smithkyle1992's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44306 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85836 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] New Touch owner questions...
For your first two questions look at the Shoutcast app, which allows you to filter stations by bitrate. Re Pandora, you will only get 128kbps. That is because Pandora.com only makes the 192kbps streams available to its own web-based player. Pandora and Logitech have been talking about the issue, but Pandora has yet to provide the necessary API for Squeezeboxes to play the 192kbps stream. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84302 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Problems waking up
I am using wireless, as I can't get an ethernet cable to where the touch is located. My wireless network is complicated. There's no ethernet run anywhere in the house. My modem is in the basement, and my office with my PC that's running squeeze server is on the second floor. My network looks like this: modem - router 1 - powerline adapter 1 - powerline adapter 2 - PC - powerline adapter 3 - router 2 Router 1 covers the basement and the front of the house, I wasn't getting a good signal at the back of the house so I added a third powerline adapter and router 2 as a wireless access point. It covers the back of the house (including the living room where the touch is) and the backyard. The touch reads 100% wireless strength, but 100% of a signal slowed down by such an hodgepodge of a network may not be great. I know this is a far from ideal setup, but what I find weird is that I've never had bufferring with the SB3, sitting in the exact same location, on the exact same wireless setup. [SlimDevices: Touch] Any chance of HDCD support?
Hi. For those who don't know, an HDCD is a 16-bit/44.1kHz CD which also includes a small amount of metadata in one of the bits which contains various info used by the player to recreate a 20-bit sound. An HDCD is ripped just like a normal CD (e.g. with EAC) and will behave like a normal CD if played back in a non-HDCD player, or like an HDCD if played back with a supported hardware player or software player (e.g. Foobar2000 with HDCD plug-in). Would there be any chance of adding HDCD support to the SB Touch please? I use my Touch with a USB hard drive attached directly, so would love to have HDCD compatibility built in to the Touch's firmware. -- Dave1972 Dave1972's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85934 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Any chance of HDCD support?
I'm sure there will be errors in what I say, so I welcome any corrections if anyone has any. It's been a while since I experimented with this, plus it's early and I'm still drinking my coffee. My understanding of the situation is that Microsoft now owns the patents for HDCD encoding/decoding, and that they aren't letting anyone have any new licenses to use the tech. Any new equipment out there that utilizes HDCD decoding is covered under prior licenses that haven't expired yet. So you won't ever see HDCD decoding covered natively or officially on the SBT. However, you can still get the same effect as the Foobar2000 plugin on the SBT. Basically, you add the HDCD plugin into the conversion chain in Foobar, then export your HDCD-encoded FLAC to a new 24-bit FLAC. You end up with a 20-bit file padded with zeros to make up the 24 bits. Since it's FLAC-compressed, those extra zeros essentially get nulled out, so they're not taking up any hard disk space. The SBT plays it back as a 24-bit file, thus giving you the extra decoded bits. EDIT: I stand corrected on the licensing aspect. And at $400,000+, it's understandable why so few devices use it. -- Pugnax555 Pugnax555's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37609 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85934 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Also, if you have already ripped all your CDs to FLAC without HDCD decoding, dbPoweramp has a batch mode that allows you to recode all your FLACs with the HDCD decoder. I did this on about 450 CDs that I had already ripped. It ran for a few hours over night and now I don't have to think about it any more.
