Hi to all. I'm a new Touch user and am now in the process of tagging my music collection optimally for the Touch. I've been adding album art to each file in an album, but I'd like to have just the one cover.jpg or folder.jpg in the folder (each album is in its own folder) and not have to tag each file. I did a test with one album, and the simple presence of the cover.jpg in the folder doesn't seem to work - it's not displayed when playing the song. I accessed the song viaby browsing via Music folder. Could that make any difference. [SlimDevices: Touch] Annoying display delay to show updated cover art
When you change track on Radio and Touch, there is a delay for the covert art to update. I can understand that it takes a few seconds to come down the network and refresh. What's annoying is that the display first shows the previous one (the one for the music you don't listen anymore) before updating. I hope it's clear. You go to the menu and select a new track. Then, you're taken back to the display that shows the old covert art and it takes a few seconds to show the new one. [SlimDevices: Touch] Wierd once a day distortion problem on Touch
Got my parents a Squeezebox Touch and set it up a week ago. It's setup to streaming via Squeeze Server (running on their PC). It's connected to a tube setup and it is typically playing all day long most days. The problem is that approximately once a day the audio suddenly becomes distorted. You can still hear and make out the piece playing, but it is notably distorted. There is no rhyme or reason to the time of day or music (they usually listen to classical). Turning the Touch off and then immediately back on, via the touch's remote control, resolves the issue. Hi Gary, This afternoon I took your advice above and placed the Touch at the side of the Modem/Router, plugged in the ethernet cable directly between the two and plugged in the PSU. Ethernet connection was almost instantaneous - result!! From this I conclude that the switch may be the problem so tomorrow I plan to take a long cable directly from Router to Touch situated at the side of my PC. I'll keep you posted. I have heard of a similar problem happening, but it was constant not on and off. I will look around and try to find the article I heard it from, because the guy who had written it had found a solution. If I can locate this I will be sure to post it here for you. Hi, according to a friends hint i ordered a used ZIP Drive (100MB) to use it's PSU for my Touch. I would say to first rule out anything else being the problem by hooking the Touch up to another audio system to make sure the problem also happens there. Hi Gary and Toby, You will no doubt be pleased to hear that my problems seems to be fixed. I've yet to have a long listening session to confirm that EVERYTHING is performing as it should but a direct ethernet connection between Modem/Router and Touch, (bypassing Switch) seems to have resolved the ethernet connection problem. Once this was done, connection was almost instantaneous. The problem seems (to me) to be one of incompatibility between Tenda switch and the Touch - all other items plugged in to the switch seem to work as they should, irrespective of which port or ethernet cable the Touch used, but the Touch refused to to work via ethernet irrespective of which port or cable was used. I'll give it a good listening session over the weekend and let you know how it goes. Meanwhile thanks to both for your interest and tolerance. What I am suggesting is that the failure/reluctance of the Touch to make an ethernet connection seems (to me) to be due to an incompatibility between switch and Touch. I am a complete novice in these matters so it may not make sense to more knowledgeable folk. FWIW, an update on my earlier post: - the SQ from Touch now it has an ethernet connection is very good, with no dropouts so far BUT the Touch has reverted to not displaying any 'Now Playing' info, just as before, so not all my problems are over yet. Suggestions, as long as they are polite, are cordially invited. SBS will understand that cue file, and each track will show up separately in your library, exactly as if the tracks were in separate files. I always rip my CDs exactly this way - one big FLAC image with no embedded tags, and all my tag info stored in the accompanying CUE file. If you really need to separate the album into individual tracks, there's all sorts of software available. I think I got confused, because I was looking at this album from the Music folder view, since I didn't take the time to rescan my library. And in the Music folder, it shows as one big FLAC file. I'll rescan, and see if mysqueezebox managed to sort things out using the cue file. Mentioned in another thread but kinda similar: Since I introduced an SB Touch (and router) into my system, I occasionally hear some kind of static out of my speakers; not tube crackle pop - different sound. I also have tube gear. It's happened with Touch connected via wifi and Ethernet. But my memory tells me that it happens when there is no music playing. I had hoped going to Ethernet and turning off wlan would solve it (not really an educated guess, just a shot), but it has still happened.
