PROBLEM CORRECTED !!! - Everything is Up, Running and Working I decided to download the latest software on my Touch, even though it said I had the latest release. After this, I reset the Touch to the Factory Settings. I then tried to connect to my Access Point and TA DA! - It worked! Or the common element of a router and an access point using two different subnets. ;) When you connect all of these laptops to both AP's (yours and your friends): - can you access the SBS remote web UI of the SBS server running on the other DHCP router? - what IP is being given to to these laptops? - what IP is being given to your SBS server? - do these laptops have internet access on this AP? - have you verified (maybe ask your friend) if your AP might be using a guest network? When Touch uses the AP can your Touch connect to www.MySqueezeBox.com and play a station? Update - A friend of mine that I had contacted showed up at my house this afternoon with his NETGEAR WNDR3300 - RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Router, that he had been using as an Access Point in his home with quite a few wireless devices. He is far more knowledgeable than I am with networks. He hooked up the new router as an Access Point and promptly connected his laptop to it. I also connected my Laptop to it. The SBtouch could not connect to it. He told there is a problem with the SBT connecting to an Access Point. I could not disagree, 2 Different Routers, 3 Laptops functioning perfectly. The only common element is the SBTouch. -- Cut-Throat Cut-Throat's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=43167 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88036 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

That log is showing that the discovery protocol is not finding anything. This is frequently caused by UDB being blocked somewhere along the line. I would get the status of the firewall itself (as others have said UFW is just a frontend), do this by typing into a terminal: iptables -L You might have to put sudo in front of that or login as root. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Cannot access my Network Drive with New Access Point.......
if you are using static ip you have to setup everything well most things ip gateway and dns and subnet seems be a minimum For the AP something like. IP 192.168.0.10 Subnet 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.0.1 ( the router ) Network 192.168.0.0 DNS 192.168.0.1 or your ISP's dns server or whatever you are using. For theTouch something similar. But another ip the essence is that only the ip should differ at the last segment for every device. Another way to give static ip to a SqueezePlay device is to use ssh and edit it's interfaces file. You followed that guide and did not connect the "AP" to the router via the WAN port ( sometimes marked internet or in or somesuch ) and used one of the" AP's" LAN ports for conecting to the a LAN port on the router, this was pionted out in Bold letters on that guide. reason is that if use the WAN port youre using it as a NAT router and still have two networks even if you managed to use the same adress system on both networks. -- Mnyb Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub. The SB players I believe will connect to the last WIFI AP it was connected to if available even if there is another one nearby that is stronger. Yes, I think the Access Point is functioning as a DHCP router, even though I have disabled DHCP and the router status shows it disabled, as the picture below illustrates. That is one reason that I ordered an Access Point Device yesterday. I had thought that by assigning a Static IP address to the touch you could somehow override any dynamic assigning. What is confusing to me, is that if the AP is assigning IP addresses, why does my laptop connect to the access point and gets an IP address from my main router? --- It is only the Touch that seems to get the IP address. I experience that with my Touch too (I use it pretty exclusively with a USB stick). Conducted no scientific tests, but I have impression that the long lag happens with FLACs: it takes long time for Touch to extract the tag information from the (larger) files. With MP3s there is a lag too but much shorter, less than a second. -- Dummy1 Dummy1's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=46273 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80014 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Cannot access my Network Drive with New Access Point.......
OK - Here is what I did. I was searching on the forum for setting a Static IP and came across this post, from John Swenson, which I followed. The secret is to connect the Touch to something that does not provide DHCP services. I recommend plugging it in (wired, NOT wireless) into a laptop ethernet jack. The laptop should not be connected to anything else, escpecially make sure it is not connected wirelessly to a router. Goto the settings>advanced>networking menu and try and connect via ethernet (wired connection). This will not find a DHCP server and default to asking you for a static IP. Enter the IP address. NOW you can disconnect it from the laptop and hook it up normally, wired or wireless to your network. John S. I keyed in the following - I had 4 Prompts 1.) Enter IP Address - I entered 192.168.0.155 (My DHCP Router is limited to 192.168.0.100 ~ 192.168.0.150 2.) Enter Subnet Mask - I entered 255.255.255.0 3.) Enter Gateway IP Address - I entered 192.168.0.1 (My DHCP Router) 4.) Enter DNS IP Address - I entered 192.168.0.1 again -- Confused here as I have 4 prompts instead of the 3??? After doing this I checked diagnostics to see the IP Address of the Touch and it said 192.168.0.155 So, then, I unhooked my Touch from the Laptop and Wirelessly connected to my Access Point and sure enough the IP Address changed back to 192.168.1.2 and it fails again. Thanks. 1. temporarily turn off the DHCP server on your router 2. (you may need to do a factory reset on TOUCHthe little button above the power cord on back). 3. After reset, Touch will start setup. It will search for an IP address and won't get one (because DHCP is off). After a minute or so it will give up and you can enter IP manually (may have to scroll down a bit on screen to see this option). In my case, I enter this: IP: 192.168.1.21 (the 21 is my choice and is outside my router's DHCP range of 100 to 254) gateway: 255.255.255.0 DNS: 192.168.1.1 note: if it asks for more digits, IP would be something like: 192.168.001.021 My router is 192.168.1.1 Then finish the setup, etc. Then you can turn the DHCP in your router back on. p.s. may not be neccesary, but I can say that I have ALL my SB players and CONTROLLER setup with true static IP addresses and this has always been rock solid for me. -- garym garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88036 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

iOS provides exact playback position, so it's possible. SqueezePad is doing an active sync in its playback implementation. It just needs some time (15-30s) in SqueezePad due to it's big decoding buffer, until adjustments that are made arrive on the speakers.
