Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Connecting Touch...
Hi John, when you say port 3483 is blocked do you mean to the internet or to the LAN? If the computer you will be running LMS on has that port blocked on the computer itself then you are going to have trouble. If its blocked in the router to the internet you will be fine, The Touch will be able to talk to the local LMS, and IT will be able to receive internet radio stations and send them to the Touch. If the firewall on the computer running LMS cannot have port 3483 open it can't send music to a squeezebox player. If this is the case you have two choices, run LMS on another computer that CAN have 3483 open (maybe even something like sheevaplug) or run the internal server off an attached USB drive, USB stick or SD card. The very first time you run the Touch you need connectivity to MySB.com in order to download real firmware, but it sound like you have allready done that. Once that is done you do not NEED connection to MySB.com in order to play your own files or access internet radio. There are some "apps" for streaming services that only run on MySB.com, I don't use them so I'm not sure which they are, other will have to chime in on that. Are you running LMS on your iMac? Are both touches connnected to LMS or are they both connected to mysqueezebox.com? If both connected to mysb.com, you should be able to login there and see both players listed and noted as "connected". If they are registered with mysb.com, but connected to your local LMS, you will see them at mysb.com, but they will say "not connected" (which is OK, because instead connected to your local LMS). But bottom line is that they both need to be on same server (lms or mysb.com) in order to Sync. -- garym *Location 1:* VB Appliance 6TB (1.10) > LMS 7.7.1 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Location 2:* VB Appliance 3TB (2.0) > LMS 7.7.1 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) > LMS 7.7.1 > SqueezePlay Retired: SB3, Duet Receiver Controllers: iPhone (iPeng), iPad (iPengHD & SqueezePad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.7 on Win7(64) laptop Ripping (FLAC) - dbpoweramp, Additional Tagging - mp3tag garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93087 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Hi everybody, I'm just a noobie joining your forum and it has been very helpful in setting up my first Squeezebox Touch, that was a month ago. I have now purchased a second one, got it basically set up with my iMac and have it attached to a Pioneer receiver in the bedroom. The other SBT is in the living room hooked up to another Pioneer receiver. Both run wi-fi and the computer is not connected to either one. I followed the steps to sync the second one with the first, going to "SETTINGS>SYNC" and am having difficulties. I have named each SBT with a different name. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] NAS for SBT?
If only Dynamic Playlist is installed, you will get access to the static playlists you have and you can: - Play them in the proper order - Play them in random order by changing the setting "Play songs in saved playlists in random order" in Dynamic Playlist settings page. If you also install "SQL Playlist" plugin you will get the "Random/For selected" option which allows to play different things in random order without changing any settings, this can be playlists, genres, artists, decades and similar things. Everything except for "playlists" requires you to have the proper tags in your music files, this this is probably the case already if you have ripped the music with a standard ripping software. Purchasing a license to "SQL Playlist" plugin will currently give you a "Dynamic Playlist" plugin license for free in the package. -- erland Erland Isaksson ('My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info)) (Developer of 'many plugins/applets (both free and commercial)' (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/User:Erland). "Touch & USB & simple folder navigation is quite easy. Plug in your USB, a screen will pop up "attaching USB", then select USB from the Touch's home menu, select Start SqueezeBox server (this launches the Touch's own built in server), wait for it to finish scanning your music files." This is exactly what marketing says, not someone who actually has done it. Marketing (taken from logitech offical description on amazon): "USB port and SD card slot expand your listening and viewing experience Say you have a ton of favorite tracks stored on an external flash drive. Just plug the drive into the music player's USB port and your tunes are ready to play through your home stereo. " User perception: Plug in, wait a few seconds and play. Reality: - Plug in. - Start Server. Wait a minute. - Indexing starts. In my case 25.000 files on NTFS. Indexing speed: 10 tracks per Minute. Indexing time: 42 hours !!! - come back two days later. - do not cut power to the device, re-indexing takes about 20 Minutes. - If you "turn off" Squeezebox, the screen goes black. USB power is always on and your disk will spin 24x7! I rather have a fast device then have features I do not use. Currently the only thing saving the box is the excellent sound quality. -- gushh gushh's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53503 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93072 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] TinySC and Scanspeed NTFS vs FAT32
Some other TinySC tips & tricks (may have all been covered by Jean2, dunno): USB or SD card devices - Check the formatting of the device, Touch supported formats: FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, ext2, ext3 - Touch can only see/use a single partition, format as a single partition, or use only the first partition for all relevant music files - Remove any included device utilities as these can cause issues - Make sure there is at least 10% free space (20% even better) - Remove any non-music related files (videos, documents, programs, pictures, data, etc ) - Or, if removing such files is not an option, place a . (dot) in front of folders that are not music related (folders not containing music files, album art, playlists). A simple (dot) in front of a folder means that TinySBS will ignore these and (hopefully) greatly speed up scan times. - Attach device directly to your computer and run basic maintenance utilities (disk cleanup, error checking, defrag) - Storage unit must be writable (Touchs server must install files and be able to write to these files) - Quick Test: Place a small, single folder of music on the device for initial testing (why have it scanning for hours if it isnt going to complete the scan) USB HD - Try an external USB power source, HD power supply or a powered USB hub. (Touch may not have enough bus power to power the USB HD) - Try a different USB cable - HD Sleep mode can cause issues (may have to completely rescan HD every time it wakes) - If you turn OFF Touch or HD, or unplug HD, Touch must completely rescan the entire HD -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93070 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch and uPnP / DLNA
I don't believe the Touch is DLNA capable. LMS server does offer DLNA capabilities to other DLNA devices. DLNA is the opposite of what SqueezeBox is all about. SqueezeBox players are feature rich, DLNA is overly simplistic and quite limited. Denigrating a Touch player to the role of a DLNA player is way under utilizing it's true purpose and capabilities. Touch & USB & simple folder navigation is quite easy. Plug in your USB, a screen will pop up "attaching USB", then select USB from the Touch's home menu, select Start SqueezeBox server (this launches the Touch's own built in server), wait for it to finish scanning your music files. Now select My Music on the Touch (may have to go to My Music > Switch Library), select Touch as your music source. Now simply go to My Music > Music Folder. There are all of your music folders exactly as they are on your USB drive. -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93072 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
