Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Commands

2012-11-04 Thread Mnyb

Your question is very very generic . it's like asking which dos commands
are supported on a pc

But google any bash shell tutorial , or linux tutorial I bough myself a
book when learning linux linux bible or something .
I did not know a thing about linux ,but my desktop win install was a
mess so decided to go that way .

I would say that most commands are supported provided that the
application or function you try to use is installed much like any linux
system .
Also LInux is pretty much online dependent ,there are a lot of very good
sites with info .

Is there anything specific you want to do ? start a tread about that ?

some pointers on your Touch you are always logged is s root thus no need
to use su or sudo (to get privileges to do something)

And the text editor you have installed on Touch is vi so if you want to
edit files google on the vi text editor

How much previous knowledge do you have ?

Well, it is a proper operating system after all... :)

Edit: adjusting to the linux logic that everything is file (even if it
isn’t ) so ofcourse every command is file too

Well, commands are of course just programs, so those programs have to
live in files, it's just that many systems don't let you see them.

Linux of course is based on UNIX, where most things are either files or
directories - something that most definitely makes programming much more
straightforward. But you should see Plan 9, the grid computing successor
to UNIX that the original Bell Labs UNIX team designed in the late 80's
and early 90's. In Plan 9, *everything* (including processes and the
network) are either files or file systems. Very, very clean and elegant
- too bad it never replaced the legacy OSs.

And the OP is also possibly misinterpreting the percentage confidence
provided by EAC. It doesn't mean what he thinks.

And it is easy to

Hence why a some form of perception bias is the most likely explanation

[SlimDevices: Touch] Small Font Size in InfoBrowser, Album Review, Biography and Comments

2012-11-04 Thread SlimChances

Perhaps this has been covered before but I have found no solution to the
small fonts that are used for InfoBrowser, Album Review, Biography and
Comments on the Touch. I see only two settings for font size and neither
seem to make the mentioned plugins readable from all but a couple of
feet away. The Classic was readable from over 10 feet away , I don't
understand why with a bigger screen font size is so small. I would
reluctantly pay for a plugin that gave some more choices with font size
although the feature should never have been reduced to it's present
state

[SlimDevices: Touch] tablet control for ethernet wired SB Touch and attached USB HD music files

2012-11-04 Thread stuartsyoga

Hi,

I'm a new owner of SB Touch and I'm interested in using a tablet to
control music play. I have my Touch connected via coax to a Behringer
2496 Ultracurve and then on to a Beresford Gatorized Caiman DAC before
its connection to hifi. The music source is a WD 1TB powered usb drive
and I have vigin hub connected via ethernet cable.

My question is with my system set up can I control the Touch from a
tablet, perhaps a Blackberry? The server I'm using is the one in the
Touch would the wifi from the tablet communicate with that through its
squezebox app? Alternatively and killing two birds with one stone I
have a Nokia running symbian are there any apps for that which would
connect to the Touch via wifi?

Thanks in advance and sorry if I have missed an appropriate thread on
the forum wehn I have browsed.

I've been loving my Squeezebox Boom for more than 3.5 years, and just

with an attached sub - and am looking for a soundbar with equally good
sound to use with my new Touch. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Ideally I'd like to have one that does a good job of reproducing sound
for movies as well as stereo music. Thanks!

Yes. Very simple. I use an iPad and an iPhone. Ipeng app and squeezepad
app. There are also android apps for those phones and tablets. All you
need is wifi as part of your network. My server and players are all
wired but I control with my I things via regular wifi.

In LMS you can tune in an URL and save it as an M3U playlist:
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Internet_radio

I did this for my favorite radio stations (one M3U file per radio
station) and then copied these onto a memory card. I put the memory card
in the SBT and start tiny LMS. Under My Music | Playlists, I can now
browse my radio stations and play them without using mysqueezebox.com..

The fact that it as down last week had zero impact on listening to my
radio stations.

Good luck giving this a try.
