This works for me using LMS on a Win 8 dedicated music server. Also
worked on the in TOUCH built server but much slower.
\music\artist1\album1 of artist1\associated MP3s
\music\artist1\album2 of artist1\associated MP3s
\music\artist2\album1 of artist 2\ etc etc.

It also makes backing up and copying to an MP3 disk in my car easy.

Very few of my MP3s have ID tags as I started this process back in 1998
converting ripped wavs from my CDs to MP3s on a near manual basis.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Squeezebox is continually scanning.

Your not trying to check the drives during scanning are you?
Files like "desktop.ini" can appear in such directories and possibly
start the rescan process.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Review: AfterMarket Power Supply upgrade - The TeraDak

2013-07-22 Thread Waldo Pepper

It wouldn't pass any electrical safety tests where I work.

Heat shrink isn't there to look pretty. It's there to prevent wiring
springing onto other connections should the solder joints fail (which
they do with age and shock). There isn't any on the earth wire to the
case.

The wiring to the PCB should be further secured with a compound like
RTV3145 sealant (NOT heat gun glue) or Captain tape. Those wires are
tightly packed putting extra stress on the joints.

The jumpers on the PCB are not secured to prevent them falling off.
Again RTV would do the job.

On a closer look, it doesn't appear to have neutral on the mains IEC
connector connected. This will trip any RCD.

[SlimDevices: Touch] Is a new Touch or Boom in the future?

2013-07-22 Thread Ikabob

Now that Logitech is seemingly supporting the future of mysqueezebox.com
functionality (thank you, thank you!), is there any possibility that
there could be a SBTouch or a SBBoom in the future?
I have several friends who are very interested in having their stereo
systems transformed into a Squeezebox multifaceted high tech system with
the SBTouch. I tell them it's no longer possible with LOGITECH'S line of
products. Could this change soon...I am a SQUEEZEBOX ecosystem lover and
advocate. (I could work for them). I also want to buy more...but don't
tell my wife.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Is a new Touch or Boom in the future?

2013-07-22 Thread Apesbrain

Well, a Logitech UE SmartRadio will do much of what a Touch does so long
as you're not interested in an external DAC. Just plug a stereo patch
cord between the SmartRadio headphone output and a high-level input on
your amplifier/receiver. You'll get basically the same local music
library and internet radio functionality as with a Touch. Same
iOS/Android controller apps as well. Limited to 24/48 if that matters.

A cheaper and somewhat DIY alternative is a Raspberry Pi running
SqueezePlug/Squeezelite. It has an analog audio output or you can plug
in a cheap external USB DAC.

My guess is that Logitech is financially incapable at this point of any
significant investment in the UE line; it's probably not seen as part of
their strategic growth plan either. Who knows?

Where did you see an announcement about mysqueezebox.com support?
Thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Announce: Enhanced Digital Output app - USB Dac and 192k Digital Ouput

2013-07-22 Thread alcarp

@JaMo

Tries sending you a message but not sure if it got through.

I just installed the DI-V3 with the Di_PSU connected to the SBT via USB,
co-ax out to a NAD M51 DAC. I have installed the EDO app.

The DI-V3 is supposed to have firmware #10 installed and King-wa advised
that this is required for the SBT.

The DAC can't seem to lock onto the signal.

I tried the unit with a mac connected via USB to the DI_V3, co-ax out to
the DAC and it works. However, I bought this particularly for the SBT.

I've tried emailing King-wa but its a painful process as it is difficult
for us to understand each other.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
