I can get R3, R4 R4X all of which show 128k AAC. (I tried the BBC Asian Service out of interest and I couldn't get that either.) I don't have an answer, but it may help you to narrow your options to know that like you I find that R1, R1X, R2, R6 and Asian play as 96kbps WMA. But they all play fine on my SB devices, including Radios that run the BBCiPlayer applet. There's lots of testing going on about this, but it IS possible that differences can be heard, not necessarily BETTER, but different, all relating to differing jitter during playback. There's a lot more to it than just transferring bits of data from a drive to a device that decodes it, especially when something as 'analog' as music is concerned. Believe me, the industry is seriously looking into this. It effects those of us that create what you're buying... MUSIC! As a professional in the field, can you point me to a peer-reviewed published study that demonstrates that human beings can actually hear the low amount of jitter actually measured in modern audio equipment? I'm not being argumentative, I just know from reading that there is an abundance of evidence that the level of jitter is not audible, but I've not seen any rigorous evidence pointing the other direction. *Home:* VortexBox 4TB (2.3) LMS 7.8 Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Cottage:* VBA 3TB (2.3) LMS 7.8 Touch Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) LMS 7.8 Squeezelite *Spares:* Touch(3), Radio(3), Boom, SB3, CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone6 iPadAir2 (iPeng8 Squeezepad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win7(64) laptop *Files:* ripping: dbpoweramp FLAC; post-rip: mp3tag, PerfectTunes; Streaming: Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102917 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

[SlimDevices: Touch] Problem with Spotify on Squeezebox Touch
Here's my problem: The mixes of many Spotify songs I hear on my Squeezebox Touch are really weird. For example, on some Dean Martin Reprise material, it seems like the instruments are mixed way down low, as if they were trying to create a near a capella mix. On The Byrds' Mr Tambourine Man, the bass was mixed way up. I found that if I moved the RCA cables partially out of my Touch, or even removed one of the cables entirely, the mix would be affected. For example, depending on the position of the RCA cables, Mr. Tambourine Man would sound either very bass-y or very treble-y. The sound would similarly vary, from near-a capella to a fuller mix, for the Dean Martin songs. I think what may be happening is that I am getting either solely the right channel or solely the left channel, although sound is coming equally loudly out of both speakers. This would occur even when one RCA cable was removed from the Touch. This happens ONLY with Spotify, and not with any other app I use on my Squeezebox, nor with any other audio source, like FM or CD, on my stereo. I tried contacting Spotify customer service, but they basically told me to contact Logitech. I have also tried without success to contact Logitech. Has anyone else had this problem, or can offer advice? On a separate but related matter: If you are thinking about Spotify Premium, I would advise you to consider their total lack of customer service before you sign up. john lennon's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=63876 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102933 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

I have the applet's stream setting at Highest Bitrate, but even if I set that to WMA my devices won't play on-demand from the stations I listed. It makes no difference if I use mysqueezebox.com or LMS on my PC. All the stations play OK on my PC and my Android tablet so I can't think it's a network problem. The fault appeared simultaneously on both Touch and SB radio so I can't think that factory resetting will do any good. Hope someone comes along with some help. anotherbob's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=51459 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102802 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] help please re version 7.9 software
There is a 7.8 firmware for the touch. I don't know if it's official or not but it works great for me, in conjunction with the 7.8 server. You have not simply inverted the phase of one of channels on your stereo ? And listen to mono versions of some of these older songs ?
