I just want to stream my large library of FLAC files gaplessly - I don't need anything more than that...I'm not sure I understand what these bug fixes to maintain functionality that you mention are. I've been using squeezeboxes for years, and I don't think there is anything truly equivalent to them out there right now...it is worth it to me to pick up an extra unit or two in order to feel that I don't have to think about migrating to a different hardware platform anytime in the near future if I don't choose to do so. [SlimDevices: Touch] Preferred outboard DAC with Touch?
I have used the search function, and have seen a lot of older threads suggesting different solutions, used with various different squeezebox models. I have no experience with outboard DACs I don't need a headphone amp, as I have a Perreaux amp, already. I was looking at the Cambridge DacMagic 100. Thoughts? Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Setting up a Touch without connecting to mysb.com
JohnSwenson wrote: The easiest way to bring up a Touch is to connect it to the internet so it starts up going to mysb.com, this will load the latest firmware (7.7.2 these days). Go ahead let it do that. Then connect to your local 7.6.1 SBS, this will change the firmware to the right version for your local server. If you buy some backup Touches, do that with all of them while mysb.com is still up and running, from then on you can run without having anything to do with mysb.com. the indications are that mysb.com is going to be around for quite sometime, but may not last as long as the hardware does. Thanks again. Did this today with the 2 spare Touches. Pardon my very dumb question, but do you mean just browse to your local music library? I just picked up a 2 Touch units as spares, and want to make sure they are set up correctly before I put them away for safekeeping. Thank you. I was going to just leave them in their boxes, sealed. Setting them up with the correct firmware (and also making sure they work correctly), makes a whole lot more sense. Once you get to Etree, the recent 24-bit transfers of the Fillmore East, 1971 run (from the baked master reels) are probably a great place to start. -- Benefactor Benefactor's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=25904 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77478 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
