Thanks for the suggestion. After another 6 attempts the Touch finally did a clean re-install. That's great but the combination of EDO and TT3 is imho, superb and I want to put both back. [SlimDevices: Touch] EDO/TT3 problem
I have both EDO and Touch Toolbox 3 running on my Touch but today came home and the start up screen with 'advanced digital output unsupported by Logitech' was showing. After a couple of second the screen went blank and then the message would repeat. I have tried using the factory reset button (at least 6 times) but the message appears again as soon as the Touch starts up. How can I get back to a proper fresh install? The problem turned out to be an erroneous proxy connection. Once this was deleted I was able to connect to mysqueezebox.com. God knows why the software decided that I used a proxy. RP is now available at 192 Ogg Vorbis. I copied and pasted the link from the RP website but could not get it to play initially. After a bit of fiddling in file types I got it working but track titles and cover art is not displayed. I have TT 3.0 installed. I was only mildly interested in these mods until I read the following from John Swenson: "I have tried Soundcheck's script and it does work, it does improve the sound. But its only part of a whole environment designed to get the best out of the device". Like many others I respect his opinion and it influenced me to install the mods. If it was proved tomorrow that it was all a fantasy I wouuldn't care. Brilliant, thats sorted it, thanks Klaus. I got a couple of popping sounds with the buffer at 3600 so have changed it to 4000. A home-made linear power supply is under production at the moment after which I will think about the Sfilter. I am using WLAN at the moment but need to figure a neat way to get a cable between floors without upsetting the wife. I have half done the mods but have ran into a problem. I get an error message which says "failed with return code 127". I didn't get this yesterday when I tried altering the buffer to 3600, that worked and ttstat works but the error message pops up when I try ttout-d. Ssh is enabled. I connect wirelessly to my Touch (computer upstairs, Touch downstairs). I sometimes get rebuffering problems so would like to connect through a cable. I get this message sometimes when trying to listen to some radio stations like Radio Paradise but I can get other stations. The next day I can get all my favourites without any problem. Is this anything to do with not being assigned a static IP address? Maybe some modest component upgrades to the Dacmagic should be considered? I use a Beresford dac which has been upgraded a couple of times at modest cost and I have been very pleased with the results. I think the problem was caused by two computers in my house with the same I.P address. At the moment the problem seems to be sorted by switching the router off and back on. I don't think people would disagree that the ability to alter the angle of the Touch would have been of great benefit. Any good methods you are using? I think Gaz has a good point here. Most components need a period of burning in to achieve their optimum sound. I use a high quality coaxial one handmade by someone on one of the hifi forums. I guess if it was produced by one of the well known makes it would cost three figures. Have you compared yours to a decent coaxial? Glass opticals are not often mentioned.
