[SlimDevices: Touch] Touch Optical Out Specs (developers)
Hi all. I'm still planning a Touch with optical digital out to another rooms speakers(with built-in DAC) project(in a hallway mounted high close to the ceiling), but have doubts regarding range capabilities. Been reading up on SPDIF/TOSLINK specs and their implementation in equiptment and, as far as i can understand, it seems that the maximum range of SPDIF/TOSLINK is up to how the standard is configured by the developers/designers of each system. My question is then mostly to any Squeezebox Touch developers or designers reading this. Thinking of pairing the Touch with this: http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/MS20.aspx but i'm not interested in buying them if this wont work. [SlimDevices: Touch] SDHC Flash for the Touch
Hi all. I thinking of buying an SDHC 32 GB card for the Touch for storing my latest purchased (and ripped to FLAC ;-) CDs. Choice of SDHC because it will also be easy to carry around for use with my laptop or other computers and players at different physical locations. But SDHC 32 GBs come in different versions and speed ratings. Is there any significant performance benefits(or compatibility problems) by choosing one over the other for use with the Touch? Im currently thinking of a SanDisk Ultra II SDHC, 15 MB/s, 32 GB. Will that work with the Touch? Is there any reason to consider faster cards(like the SanDisk Extreme)? [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch Digital + Analog Output
Hey. Got my Touch the other day. After software update it took only 5 min before i was listening to free internet radio, and another 5 before i was listening to my DI.FM premimum account. Pretty sweet and easy. I was wondering about somthing though. I'm thinking of adding sound to my excercise room(adjacent to my living room where the touch resides by the stereo). Now, I dont want to buy another touch just for the odd hour 3 times a week i spend there(and allways will be listening to the same 1 or 2 house-like channels). (i am thinking of one more box for the bedroom, but thats another story :). So im thinking of buying a couple of active studiospeakers with optical input and volume control, BEHRINGER MS20, i can get used for -50% price and hook them up to the touch via 10-15 m(32-49 feet) spdif optical cable of good quality(Lindy brand) i have in spare from an earlier project. As i have been unable to find a manual on the touch, does anyone know if the Touch can handle simultaneously analog and optical sound connection / output or if that is a no-go? [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch networking and streaming capabilities
Hello all. I'm considering purchasing a Touch as it looks like a very cool unit, but i have some concerns about it abilities to work in my setup. 1. Networking: i have a gigabit ethernetwork setup with several computers and a single NAS for alle my storage needs(a synology DS209+II RAID2 with remote data replication). My NAS is not able to access(or be accessed from) the internet, for security reasons, but it is visible and accessibile to the entire internal network. All my CDs are ripped to FLAC format and placed there(along with my own dvd rips and other data :). What is the best way to make the Touch connect to and playback my FLAC music stored on the NAS? Someone told me the Synology NAS is Squeezebox capable but what does that mean and does it work with the touch(any synology owners out there :)? I know it is DLNA ready but i guess that is not whats needed here. 2. Internet radio streaming: i subscribe to DI.FM Premimum and want to listen to the 256kbps mp3 streams(shoutcast via http authentication) through the Touch. Has anyone tried that in real life :) and how does it preform(dropouts, buffer problems and so on)? [SlimDevices: Touch] USB or SD card function on Touch?
Hello. I have at question, maybe to a developer, as to the functionality of the SD card slot or USB slot on the Touch. First of, I guess that when you can play back MP3 from SDcards and USB sticks, you can also play them back via playlists on the media. Anything else would be silly, if you have a large collection of files. So i'm assuming this. But the real question is, can you copy a mp3 playlist created in foobar or winamp(like a pls-list), containing direct IP shoutcast streamlinks, on to a SDcard or USB stick, plug it into the touch and have the Touch connect and playback the shoutcats streams directly? Were talking can the Touch do basic HTTP authentication here. This would be a super simple and easy way to manage and maintain large internet radio shoutcast stream lists, that change IPs form time to time.
