Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Firmware update request to ease strain on resources

Everyone except me. I've never counted. Lets say about 20k as has been
guestimated by someone else. I'm going to try a firmware update as
suggested by a helpful soul. I hadn't done this before as I just
assumed my Touch would automatically have downloaded and installed the
 latest version.

And yes, I did used to have other non-music stuff on the same drive,
but I have since taken all non-music off.
I have to say, I do love the Touch, it's probably the best hardware
music playing device I have owned (I even prefer it to my NAD SACD/DVDA
player). But the fact that you can't nominate a folder to scan is,
frankly, ridiculous (IMHO). But I'm letting that one go now as I've
 wasted enough energy over this.

I'm with you on this one Dave - This full re-scan issue seems crazy to
me. However, some other users seem to be of the strong opinion that
wanting to be able to turn it off is a silly idea ;)

[SlimDevices: Touch] Power on time with USB drive

2011-02-23 Thread Sosh

Hi,

Can anyone confirm how long the touch takes to power up (from off) when
having a medium sized music collection on a connected USB drive? Does it
have to re-index everything?

Thanks

Thanks for running the test! Damn, 20 mins :( - as I feared. Is there
any way of putting in feature requests? I would have thought stopping
this running automatically would be a simple change.

Well personally I don't leave things switched on when I'm not using
them. Is there some reason why you leave it on? ;) (besides this
problem of course!)

I have not timed it, but with my 7k track collection a full
rescan takes more than a few minutes and less than an
hour. Incremental scan takes a few minutes.

Do you mean that every time you switch it on you have to wait a few
minutes before using it? That sounds unacceptable to me :/

2010-12-07 Thread Sosh

That's unfortunate - I don't like leaving things on in standby when I'm
not using them. (presumably the drive also has to stay on?) Is there no
way to disable this automatic rescan? (I mean, you know when you've
added tracks right?!)

Is the sound quality really different when using USB as opposed to SBS
on the PC?
