Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Time to give up on Touch's server?
With the exception of the new 7.6 upgrade to SBS, my experience with the Touch has been error free. The best way to utilize the Touch (in my opinion) is to store all your music on an external computer running SBS. I have the Touch and this external computer connected over my home network via ethernet cables. I would not try to run the Touch and it's internal server (TinySBS) with a connected hard drive. I think the Touch is just too underpowered for larger music libraries. Especially if you're music is stored in a lossless format. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] 7.6 and cover art
Just to be fair I download 7.6.1-32935, set up a test album folder with 25 wav albums, 25 flac albums, and 25 mp3 albums. I uninstalled 7.5.5 from the control panel and cleaned the registry. Installed 7.6.1 and let it scan my test album folder. It found all the music, but would not display any of the album art from the wav files. The flac and mp3 files album art displayed fine. All my music (wav, flac, mp3) is tagged using TagRename. Every album has it's own folder with the album art saved as folder.jpg. Multiple clear and rescan and still no album art on wav files. The bottom line as I see it: If you want to use wav files, stay away from 7.6 at all costs. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] 7.6 and cover art
I've always used wav files since I purchased my original Slim Devices branded Squeezebox 3. Except for one brief hiccup, it's always worked well until 7.6. If all the other formats are not going to be supported appropriately, then it's disingenuous to the point of outright lying for Logitech to claim that the Touch supports these formats. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] what is coming after touch
Dsdreamer understood my point. I don't seriously expect a video out option anymore than I expect a Touch 2 to be coming down the pipe anytime soon. A video out would be nice to have to connnect to a larger monitor/display. Since HDMI can carry audio/video anyways, the connection could be used as a digital out as well to a receiver or whatever. I have a 55 LCD hanging between my stereo anywayswould be nice to display the Touch screen on that if I could. -- kgturner kgturner's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8214 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88899 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] upgrading USB cable (or power supply)?
I suggest you try it for yourself and see if you hear a difference and then decide if any difference you may or may not hear justifies the price of admission. Asking for opinions here about upgrading cables will typically end up with people who've never tried them telling you they're not worth it. Personally, I don't think high end USB cables are justified, but I haven't used one so who am I to really say? Good luck and let us know. received my replacement touch today. had to call logitech on tuesday to find out what the deal was because i never received a shipping confirmation. apparently they needed some type of supervisor approval to ship it. i dunno. either way, got the confirmation yesterday and the touch today. no stuck pixels on this one either. pretty nice of logitech to replace my touch for free due to cosmetic issues. kevin t -- kgturner kgturner's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8214 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79605 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Dead pixel
my touch also had a dead/stuck pixel. i never noticed it from across the room so i never complained about it. however, i recently went on vacation to a cabin in the smokies and brought my touch with me. i put it back in it's original box and when i got to the cabin, the front plastic screen had some kinda junk on it that i couldn't clean off. still have no idea what it was. i called logitech squeezebox support and they emailed me a shipping label and offered to replace the touch under warranty after i provided proof of purchase. so, now i'm sitting here waiting for my new touch to arrive. i suppose if they replaced my touch for some gunk on the outside, they'd likely replace yours for a stuck pixel. give them a call and see. squeezebox support number is 877-887-8889. -- kgturner kgturner's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8214 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79605 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

[SlimDevices: Touch] Rescan on headless server??
maybe i'm missing it, but how do i do a rescan from the touch using the remote. i have my music on a headless server in another room and can't seem to locate the rescan options (look for new and changed music / clear library and rescan everything) in the touch menus. where are they at? kevin t -- kgturner kgturner's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8214 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77859 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Rescan on headless server??
i run the power server control plugin on my touch. this allows me to turn on and off the server with the remote. the server is in a completely different room. what your telling me is i have to connect a monitor, keyboard, and mouse to the headless server, get up, go to where the server is, and manually rescan the library or i have to turn my primary computer and navigate over the network to rescan the library because a feature that has been present for years has been removed. that is a glaring and ignorant omission in my opinion. kevin t -- kgturner kgturner's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8214 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77859 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

go my touch in today. set it up and i'm sitting here playing the 24/96 version of nine inch nails - the slip. setup was fairly straight forward, though i'm still trying to get used to the menu navigation structure. i suppose it's to be expected to be a bit of a learning curve coming from four years with my SB3. the one thing i miss is that my SB3 allowed me to customize my menus by de-selecting the items i didn't want/use. no such luck with the touch, yet. kevin t -- kgturner kgturner's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8214 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77298 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
