Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Clear Library and REscan Everything

2011-02-19 Thread starfury

I guess I'll give a shout-out to MP3tag here. Although it has MP3 in
the title of the software, it will tag just about anything, and that
includes Flac.

Of course, I suppose you need to locate your missing files first. But
once you do, I have used this to find many tagging errors, and they are
quickly and easily fixed. Something as simple as an incorrect track
number can scramble your compilations.

Good luck.

You could set the playback mode to add, then at least the additional

Thanks pippin, that was exactly what I was looking for.

Loving iPeng on my iPod Touch, and even more so now that you've helped
me on this one.

I'm not only impressed with iPeng itself, but how you go out of your
way to assist those that use it.

I don't know how much appreciation you receive, but here's a hat-tip
from a happy user.

Cheers.

[SlimDevices: Touch] Touch/iPeng...settings help

2010-05-12 Thread starfury

Hi again all.

First off here is my setup:

USB HD connected to PC running Win 7 Home Premium.

Running Squeezebox Server on PC.

Touch connected to Yamaha AVR via Toslink.

iPeng on iPod Touch 8GB 3rd Gen.

Everything is updated to latest firmware.
=

Is there a setting on either the Touch, iPeng or Squeezebox Server that
can allow me to press a song on the iPod without it starting
immediately?

If I understand correctly, pressing and holding a song will bring up a
sub menu, which will ask you to play next, play, add to end,
etc.

However, occasionally a slight mis-touch will just start the song
playing, interrupting the song that was playing. Not only is this
annoying, but also frustrating and a real mood-killer.

I suppose what I am asking is, can I set it up so that even if I just
slightly touch the song in iPeng, it will bring up the sub menu? That
would sure put an end to the sighs, rolling eyes, and angry looks when
someone's song gets interrupted :)

Thanks ahead of time for the help :)

correct about my multiple album issues.

Just wanted to say thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Protecting Your Touch Screen

2010-05-04 Thread starfury

That's quite true, actually.

I did the same thing with Zagg for a POS phone from Virgin Mobile.
Enough people responded that they actually did make a screen protector
for the phone I am speaking of.

How many people that need to respond is the question I guess.

They do make an excellent product. Trouble is, they are rather
difficult to apply if you are a member of the I can never apply screen
protectors without air bubbles crowd.

Perhaps you are experiencing the same phenonemon as I have. The local
server seems to scan also the recycle bin on USB drives. The problem is
that you do not see this bin under windows, so you don't know it is
 there.

This may be an explanation why you are getting double albums. It's just
some stuff that you once had on the drive but was deleted and forgotten
 about.

I really believe you are on to something. I thought the USB HD would
use the same recycle bin as my PC. Interesting. Also, when I checked
the USB HD's recycle bin, indeed there were over 3,500 deleted files on
it (long story short- I had to re-rip most of my CDs after subjecting
the flacs to the evils of track leveling in MediaMonkey).

Alas, after deleting the files, I plugged my Touch in and nothing
happened. It was the wrong AC adapter! It was the AC adapter for my WD
hard drive! I have two WD HDs and had accidentally grabbed the unused
one and plugged it into my Touch!

Bad news: Touch was fried.

Good news: Believe it or not, Logitech is going to replace it.

Anger over my stupidity and relief over Logitech's CS. I thought for
sure I was holding a $300.00 brick. Well I am, but the brick will be
replaced.

Thanks for the info on the fix for my multiple albums. After I get my
new Touch, I'll let you know if it worked. I'm sure it will, it will
just take a while to find out.

[SlimDevices: Touch] Touch internal server VS Web Server- Tags

2010-04-23 Thread starfury

How does the Touch's internal server read tags differently than the
Web/PC version?

Obviously some of my tags are screwed-up, as the Touch shows multiple
albums, different artwork, etc. I connected the same WD 2 TB HD to my
PC and it was a stark difference. No multiple albums, and it was much
cleaner.

I would run the server on my PC if my network were wired, but that is
out of the question for my setup. Using Ipeng on my Ipod Touch would
most likely choke on my Hi-res artwork and 5000+ flac files.

So why is the Touch's internal server having such a hard time with tags
compared to the server on the PC?

Thanks.

Well at least it was good news this time eh?

I ordered mine on 4/8. I've been watching this site for other buyer's
order status woes, etc. Got my shipping email just a few minutes ago
(from Logitech US).

In the end I believe it will be worth it. We will all have one bad-ass

I would also add that if the CD you ripped was mastered poorly, it will
