[SlimDevices: Touch] Touch's built-in DAC vs DacMagic 100

2012-06-13 Thread vinhattieu

CA has released the new, small form-factor DacMagic 100 and I am
thinking of upgrading my system with this. However, I am still wondering
if the improvement in audio quality is worth the price (the Touch's
internal DAC delivers decent sounds and I am not sure if the new DAC
makes a big difference). Can anyone help me with this.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] SQB Touch with Buffalo NAS

2011-12-28 Thread vinhattieu

I do. I am using a LS-VL and it works flawlessly (FW 7.5.1 on LS-VL and
7.7.1 on Touch).

First of all, you have to go to Extensions/Media Server in the NAS
setting to select the music folder, then go to the web interface of
Squeezebox Server and have it scan for files.

Hope this helps.

[SlimDevices: Touch] Weird artist sorting behavior on Touch

2010-08-18 Thread vinhattieu

I am having a standalone Squeezebox Server (a Dell Optiplex GX270
running Windows XP) and an external drive plugged into the Touch, both
of which have exactly the same files.

Recently I've noticed a weird thing when my Touch sorted artists from
the external drive. When I browsed to My Music/Artists, seven albums of
single artists were, oddly enough, grouped under Various Artists, and
this group stood on the very top of the Artist list, above 1 and A (on
the standalone server these album were sorted correctly according to
the initial letters of the respective artists). At the same time, there
was another Various Artists group (the right one) standing at the bottom
of the list (U, V, W) consisting compilation albums.

Any idea how I can fix this?

All my files are flac. I have checked the and id-tag of these files in
both Media Monkey and the dbpoweramp properties. Everything looked just
fine.

I think it works. I cleared all the relevant extended tags (albumartist,
ALBUMARTIST etc) for one album and everything seems to be back to
normal.

Many thanks.

[SlimDevices: Touch] Artist scan in SBS vs. Touch's built-in server

2010-06-19 Thread vinhattieu

Hi there,

I have a collection of around 1000 FLAC albums on my PC, and the same
collection on a WD Essential Passport plugged in my Touch. Recently I
notice something strange: My Touch's built-in server has 400 only
artists for 1000 albums, while for that very same collection my SBS
detects 2000 artists.

It seems to me that SBS regards each song artist in compilations as
separate album artists, while TinySC groups them under Various Artists.
If so, how can I make my SBS behave the way TinySC does (because I don't
want to scroll through so many artists while browsing my collection).

Many thanks.

including Composers and Conductors as Artists that made the list much
longer.
