your app can easily be broken by the vendor, intended or
not.

Um kind of reminds me of the Squeezebox APIs in the good times when
there was still lots of development :D

Ahm... that's totally different, of course :-).

The gMusic app is commercial.
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gmusic-a-google-music-player/id472342018

However, anyone doing it need to be prepared to be shutdown or engaged
in legal action.

There are several reverse engineered implementations for Google's
offerings. But no official, documented API. It _can_ work, but it's a
dirty job, and your app can easily be broken by the vendor, intended or
not.

Pippin and folks,

I'm confused:

- How can a 3rd-party company offers access to Google Music in IOS
environment (works as a charm) without such IPIs ou like?

"The gMusic app already plays the songs you’ve uploaded to Google Music.
But after hearing Google announce All Access last week at I/O, developer
James Clancey spent the weekend banging out an update to support the
subscription service. Clancey submitted the app to the iTunes App Store
this morning."
http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2013/05/google-music-all-access-ios/

- Or the access we would need for squeezebox must be a lower level than
the access they already have?

Thanks!

Vitor

Well, that's the part I still don't understand about what Google is
doing. They make money exactly with search. Everything else is stuff
they give away for free, even the phones and tablets (not for free but
at a loss).

And with search on mobile they still get way more traffic from Apple
devices than from Android devices

As mentioned in the thread garym linked: that API is completely useless,
it can't even retrieve all items in a stream and you can't even post let
alone all the integration things that a service like Google+ is all
about. If you want to do anything useful you need to do it through
Google. On invitation only aka. for "big money".

Don't know about Google Music, but there's an API for Goggle+, and it
has been there for a long time...

"infamous for not allowing anybody access to their new services"? Well,
maybe while the services are still -very- new - like with Google+ in the
beginning because Google introduced a beta-like service which they
really didn't know exactly how should work yet. But generally I would
say Google are famous for -allowing- anybody to access their services
through APIs. And if an API hasn't already been introduced for Google
Music, I'm sure it will be introduced sooner or later.

[SlimDevices: Touch] Google Play Music

2013-05-15 Thread dschamis

Is there a way to connect to Google Play Music from the SBT? With
today's announcement Google Play looks like a great way to listen to
music. I have already signed up for the $8/month plan.

Hopefully there is something out there already!

David
