Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Logitech Media Server dies
My touch seems to work OK on random play with about 9000 songs on a powered hard drive plugged in the back. One thing you might want to check are the titles (and tags) of your files. I was once having trouble with colons and accents and hashes in the titles. Once they were removed it worked better. My understanding of that article is that it uses a 100 song playlist to achieve a random mix, and the server manages the list by adding and dropping songs. It seems to be describing an earlier version of randomizing, because it talks about finding the function under plugins. My menu doesn't have it under plugins. Dave S. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Logitech Media Server dies
If the OP is using TinyLMS (and not an externa LMS) which is the inbuilt LMS of a Touch - then the problem is most likely the underpowered and memory deficient Touch system. IIRC TinyLMS struggles on the Touch as it is only capable of handling relatively small libraries and trying to do Random play on the whole library may be too much for it. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110966 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

OK, four days since I put in a powered hub, and it worked fine until today. "Locan Music Server Stopped". Same as before. Now I restart Logitech Media Server on the Touch and I'll be good for another random length of time. Is this the best I can expect, or is there something else I should do? Dave S. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Logitech Media Server dies
I could share my problems with wifi but it sounds like you have your own. I would recommend a powered external drive with a fair amount of capacity. Reading the troubleshooting section it seems you have a one percent rule for the TinySC to exist on. Not sure how much space your music files occupy. Reading people's experiences with using the Touch server most complained about it being under powered. Sure, but what's the favoured way of connecting computer to Touch? It's too difficult to get an ethernet cable connection to the location of my music system. Wi-fi was unreliable, worked sometimes, but often broke. Powerline adapter worked longer, but more recently I experienced IP issues. I will now try connecting the hard drive through a powered hub. I'm not aware of a way to get Media server log files. I'm (now) aware that if I use the term Logitech Media Server, that people think it's running on a computer, rather than the Touch. I will now try the powered hub idea. In the past, I did have my music database on the computer, but had trouble with 1) the wi-fi connection between computer and Touch and 2) a powerline adapter connecting these devices was also not stable. [SlimDevices: Touch] Logitech Media Server dies
I use my Touch with a USB hard drive plugged in and my entire music collection is on this drive. When I restart Logitech Media Server and set it to play random songs, it will do that for a few hours, sometimes a few days. Then I'll get silence. First thing I try is to skip to the next song >> Sometimes that works. What causes it to stop at the end of a song? Second problem: LMS stops, and then I tell it to restart, it takes some time to do this, and then allows me to play again. Why does it keep stopping? Is there a limit on the number of songs I can have on the hard drive? I have about 7,500. Dave S.
