I plug a new WD elements 1 TB in my Touch, but after 15 minutes on screensaver the HDD was always on. Thank's, I'm testing with a 1GB WD external 3.5 but I have a bug : the power button on the remote control or on the screen, beep but doesn't work. What are you expecting the power button to do? It doesn't actually shut off the power, it stops the player if its playing any music and it invokes the stopped screensaver, thats pretty much it. It doesn't actually turn off the electricity to anything. It needs most of the system up and running in order to determine that you actually touched the screen to turn it back on. If it actually turned the power off to the electronics inside it would have no way to turn itself back on again. If what you are after is to have the Touch tell the USB drive to spin down when you touch the power button, thats probably theoretically possible but has not been implemented yet. Also note that you can be in this state and still using your hard drive to stream audio to other players connected to the internal server, so it's not as simple to implement as you might think. Interesting, I would actually expect it to shut down the server when the power button is pressed. Just to minimize the risk of data corruption if a power outage occurs while I'm not using it. Hello, Sorry for my English but I'm French. I bought a Touch yesterday, and I plugged in a very old noname USB hard drive. All is OK, but when the squeezebox is in sleep mode my HDD is not off. And if I switch off my HD I had a an error message because I didn't eject correctly my USB Drive. My question is if I bought a 2,5 HDD without external power, do the Touch will switch off my HDD during the sleep mode ? Why do you need a new one if your old one works fine?
