You can use any old font you like, btw, just make sure that it has all the
codepoints / characters you need.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Who could tell me the reason that the SBT doesn't support the East Asian Scripts?

2012-08-09 Thread wildgoose

I am curious about the difference between using Font Replacer and the
Google android fonts workaround to display Chinese characters.

I've been using the Google Android fonts method. The font looks nice and
everything, but I've find upgrading squeezebox touch to be problematic.
Occasionally, after the upgrade, the screen would come up blank, unless
I do a factory default. This wipes out the Android font and I have to
find the instructions and re-do it again.

Does Font Replacer works the same way as the android font method? It's
info seems to indicate it won't replace the UI font, so I am curious how
exactly it works.

Thanks.

The fonts from Font Replacer look like the Google android fonts and
it just replacing the fonts with the CJK fonts. You can un-install the
Font Replacer if you don't like it.

Hi Erland. Where can I find that Font Replacer? If I go to Settings
Advanced Applet Installer I can only see two applets: BBC Radio and
World Clock.

Thank You.

You need to uncheck the Settings Advanced Applet Installer
Recommended Applet Only option first, after that you will see all
available applets including Font Replacer

[SlimDevices: Touch] Who could tell me the reason that the SBT doesn't support the East Asian Scripts?

2012-07-14 Thread jialife

For the past three years, there is no versions of the SBT systems that
could support the East Asian Scripts. I don't know the reasons. May I
consider that the application developers have ignored the population of
almost 2 billions?

I'm pretty sure it's not the developers, it's Logitech marketing who is
ignoring it, if any.

But I assume you have seen the Font Replacer applet provided by a
third party developer which can be installed from
Settings/Advanced/Applet Installer menu ? It adds support for
Chinese/Japanese/Korean as I've understood.
