With a USB interface the rate data is sent to the DAC is NOT determined by the audio crystals but by the processor crystal which may not be given as much care in initial frequency accuracy. The result is that the data rate might be fairly far off from what it should be and the feedback loop in the asynchronous interface may not have enough time to get the computer sending the data at the right rate before the buffer over/under flows. I've been working with some others with async hardware and seeing some very strange things happening. The feedback loop IS working but sometimes the data rate gets set to something very bizarre. Unfortunately I can't get any of this to happen on my Touch so its hard to debug. John S. Hi John, I've been in communication with the software engineer for my async USB DAC (this one http://www.audiolab.co.uk/ProductDetail.aspx?lang=EnTab2=8200CDQ), which is also getting the pops/clicks after applying your mod. He is interested in contacting you to help resolve it. Would you like me to put you in touch? Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] ayre QB9 + touch USB
It's probably the Linux Alsa USB driver. It is really old. And might cause problems with asynchronous DACs. If I recall it correctly John Svensson handed in a patched driver quite some time ago. I'm not sure if it never made it into the firmware. Let see if it ever will, respectively if Logitech ever updates to a newer kernel resp. Alsa before Touch reaches EOL. [SlimDevices: Touch] ayre QB9 + touch USB
I have the Ayre AB9 on loan and hooked it up to my squeezebox with the asound.conf tweaked as described. DAC is fantastic but I get clicks and pops that make music unlistenable to. I am assuming the problem is that I am using WIFI connect SB to PC? I have the PC doing the transcoding Any suggestions ? -- meltsheep meltsheep's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8203 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84621 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

I saw this and will give it a go tomorrow. http://soundcheck-audio.blogspot.com/2011/01/soundchecks-squeezebox-touch-toolbox-20.html I am assuming the buffersize is a problem. -- meltsheep meltsheep's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8203 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84621 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
