[Touch-packages] [Bug 1339932] Re: iptables -j LOG fails on 12.04 kernel 3.4.4-guest

2014-08-09 Thread Jeff Groves
Upgrading to 12.04.5 and installing the Trusty kernel fixed the problem:

aptitude safe-upgrade
apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-lts-trusty

Title:
iptables -j LOG fails on 12.04 kernel 3.4.4-guest

Status in “iptables” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
iptables was working fine until I did an upgrade to a new kernel
version. Now it is impossible to load my firewall rules using
iptables-restore. The iptables-restore program croaks when trying to
  load the rules.

While the error is reported on the line associated with the COMMIT
statement, it appears that it is really failing when the -j LOG
option is used. If I eliminate the -j LOG option on statements, it
seems to work normally (like it did before).

When I run lsmod, there is no xt_LOG or ipt_LOG module present. I
cannot find the xt_LOG.ko or ipt_LOG.ko file anyplace, so I cannot
  load them manually.

Not sure if this is a kernel bug or an iptables bug, but since it
makes it impossible to load my firewall rules and leaves my system
wide open, it's definitely a security issue.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1335446] Re: Installing kubuntu-desktop to normal ubuntu ruins unity

2014-08-09 Thread hakon
I confirm to have the same issues. From Ubuntu 14.04 I ran apt-get
install kubuntu-desktop, after logging out from Unity and in again in
KDE plasma desktop, I think I started to see some symptoms (for example:
fonts on webpages looked ugly), and logging out again and then logging
into Unity again, more symptoms became apparent. The most important
issue for me now is to get the fonts back as they were. Some web pages
is almost unreadable with the current fonts.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1300386] Re: Network manager fails to find bluetooth 'modem' for dun connection in saucy

2014-08-09 Thread Sergio Callegari
Same issue in trusty.

This is in fact a kernel bug: see https://lkml.org/lkml/2014/2/9/316.

Tried mainline (e.g. 3.15.6) and works fine.

There is also another bug in modemmanager/networkmanager. This keeps
rfcomm0 open when the connection is dropped and causes modemmanager to
keep asking the bluetooth phone about the signal quality. When you try
to connect again, the connection fails. However, this is easily worked
around by service modemmanager restart.

So the main issue is with the kernel. The relevant patches should be
backported to the saucy and trusty kernels.

** Summary changed:

- Network manager fails to find bluetooth 'modem' for dun connection in saucy
+ Network manager fails to find bluetooth 'modem' for dun connection in saucy
and trusty

** Package changed: network-manager (Ubuntu) = linux-meta (Ubuntu)

when I try to connect, things start just fine. Connection confirmation

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1354668] [NEW] Fix for suspend/hibernate with DVB-t USB stick

2014-08-09 Thread sander
Public bug reported:

I have a Terratec Cinergy T USB XXS DVB-t USB stick, but when you
suspend the system while a radio or TV channel is actively playing in
some application, the system does not correctly suspend the device. The
system will not wake up again and you have to reset the computer. This
bug exists for at least 3 year and likely people with similar DVB-t USB
sticks will be affected as well.

I have created a failure proof workaround solution for VLC by creating
the script /etc/pm/sleep.d/50_dvb_usb_dib0700_quirk:

#!/bin/sh

PASS=enter password for LUA telnet access to VLC

case $1 in
hibernate|suspend)
 # check whether a stream with telx (Teletext) is active or not
  if [ `{ echo $PASS; echo info; } | netcat localhost 4212 -q 1 | grep -c
telx` -eq 0 ]
  then
   continue
  else
   { echo $PASS; echo stop; } | netcat localhost 4212 -q 1 /dev/null
  fi
  modprobe -r dvb_usb_dib0700

  # automatically start playing after wake up
  { echo $PASS; echo play; } | netcat localhost 4212 -q 1 /dev/null

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1320456] Re: Wrong keyboard layout after login

2014-08-09 Thread FM33
Wrote a script to automate the workaround :

#!/bin/sh
sleep 5
if [ -n $(dconf read /desktop/ibus/general/preload-engines | grep eng) ]; then
   dconf write /desktop/ibus/general/preload-engines
['xkb:fr::fra','xkb:fr:oss:fra']
   sleep 0.5
   compiz --replace
fi

Customise it with your own locale and add it in startup applications.
Run dconf read /desktop/ibus/general/preload-engines in a terminal to see
what is your actual value.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1292398

Another workaround:

Make the necessary changes to the layout with ARandR, save layout as
yadayada.sh (or whatever name you prefer), define yadayada.sh as a
startup application (after making it executable).

You will have messy screen layout until entering the password (with my
layout, I have to do this without seeing anything unless I turn the TV
on), but after that it should look exactly the way you want it to. At
least that's what I got.

I don't have a solution yet how to start the script before the login
screen, but this is probably no rocket science either.

I came across this workaround after I'd been facing that nasty issue
with a GeForce card, and it persisted after I used an ATI instead (at
first I'd thought it might be related to the NVidia driver in some way).

By the way, I don't have xorg.conf and monitors.xml anymore. I didn't
have monitors.xml with GeForce either, but I did have xorg.conf before.
Doesn't matter to me now.

Title:
  Ubuntu 14.04 forgets Display Settings from monitors.xml / xorg.conf
  (Dual-Screen Setup)

Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Steps to Reproduce:
  1. Install Ubuntu Gnome14.04 on a freshly formatted PC with 2 screens
  2. Using Additional Drivers, install latest Nvidia driver (331)
  3. Modify screen settings (e.g. change position of 2 screens as depicted in
attached Screens_good.gif)
  4. Turn secondary screen off and back on - OR - reboot
  5. Observe that screen settings have been reverted

  Actual Results:
Ubuntu forgets the screen settings made in either NVidia-settings or Ubuntu's
own Displays tool. The screen settings are reverted to the default (screen 2
to the right of screen 1) after reboot or when turning the second screen off
and back on.

  Expected Results:
Ubuntu should apply the user's defined screen settings when the second screen
is turned on.

  Notes:
The test PC has two devices connected to a GeForce GTX 680 (Gigabyte
GV-N680OC-2GD) card:
  1. Samsung SyncMaster screen via DVI
  2. Yamaha RX-V 661 5.1 surround receiver via HDMI (recognized by Ubuntu as a
second screen)
Encountered in Ubuntu Gnome 14.04, 64 bit
Encountered with NVidia drivers 331, 331 update and 304 (legacy)

Reading Xorg.0.log, one can see that the user's desired settings are
actually applied more than once (exerpts):

This issue occurs regardless of whether the user makes the desired settings
in Ubuntu's Display tool or NVidia-Settings.
This issue persists even after specifically saving the desired settings to
xorg.conf using NVidia-Settings.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1354124] Re: package libc6 2.19-0ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: el subproceso script pre-installation nuevo devolvió el código de salida de error 1

2014-08-09 Thread Andreu Correa Casablanca
I've solved the issue typing

export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu:/lib/i386-linux-gnu

before doing

apt-get -f install

But this fix it's only available to people with expertise on Linux...

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1327412] Re: Delay during PXE Boot, IP-Config gives up

Title:
Delay during PXE Boot, IP-Config gives up

Status in “klibc” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in “klibc” package in Debian:
  New

Bug description:
Attempting to PXE boot both the 12.04.3 and 14.04 Live images. PXE
boot works normally (PXE Menu, select desired image, image begins
loading), then the boot process hangs while IP-Config attempts to get
  an IP address:

  IP-Config: eth0 hardware address e0:db:55:0c:34:7e mtu 1500 DHCP
  IP-Config: eth1 hardware address e0:db:55:0c:34:80 mtu 1500 DHCP

  IP-Config: eth0 hardware address e0:db:55:0c:34:7e mtu 1500 DHCP
  IP-Config: eth1 hardware address e0:db:55:0c:34:80 mtu 1500 DHCP
IP-Config: no response after 3 secs - giving up

These lines appear very quickly (5 seconds has NOT elapsed), after
about a minute, we get this:

  IP-Config: eth0 hardware address e0:db:55:0c:34:7e mtu 1500 DHCP
  IP-Config: eth1 hardware address e0:db:55:0c:34:80 mtu 1500 DHCP
IP-Config: no response after 4 secs - giving up

  Some time later, this:

  IP-Config: eth0 hardware address e0:db:55:0c:34:7e mtu 1500 DHCP
  IP-Config: eth1 hardware address e0:db:55:0c:34:80 mtu 1500 DHCP
IP-Config: no response after 6 secs - giving up

  Until finally, this:

  IP-Config: eth0 hardware address e0:db:55:0c:34:7e mtu 1500 DHCP
  IP-Config: eth1 hardware address e0:db:55:0c:34:80 mtu 1500 DHCP
IP-Config: no response after 9 secs - giving up
  IP-Config: eth0 hardware address e0:db:55:0c:34:7e mtu 1500 DHCP
  IP-Config: eth1 hardware address e0:db:55:0c:34:80 mtu 1500 DHCP
  IP-Config: eth0 guessed broadcast address 172.25.11.31
  IP-Config: eth0 complete (dhcp from 172.25.10.20):
  (snip)

While watching the DHCP server logs, Ubuntu is either not sending a
DHCP Discover at times, or is not replying back with a DHCPRequest
during these sessions, presumably ignoring an response from the DHCP
server. From the initial booting of the system via PXE, to when
Ubuntu finally shows the desktop, almost 12 minutes will have elapsed.

I am seeing this same behavior on both 12.04.3 and 14.04. After
finding a number of similar erros via Google and no real resolution, I
  have opened this bug.

The system experiencing this issue has multiple ethernet interfaces
(actual HW, not a VM), some Google found solutions suggest hard coding
  DEVICE=eth0 in /etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf, however this isn't
acceptable as a system attempting to PXE boot may be using an
  alternate port for the network.

I have found what looks to be a very similar bug filed for Debian,
#584583, which also contains a patch for this issue (under Debian).

I have no problems in PXE booting to various Windows, RedHat, Centos,
or Fedora OSs. Ubuntu is the only Live OS that I'm attempting to boot
  at present.

As of daily build 20140809, I'm seeing this an an intermittent bug.

Booting the same live USB several times will sometimes produce this bug
and sometimes it won't.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1314367] Re: Flickering with Ubuntu 14.04 and nvidia card reappeared

This was a bug in the nvidia driver:

It should be fixed in 340.24.

Flickering with Ubuntu 14.04 and nvidia card reappeared

Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
As requested in Bug #1310633 I'm opening a new bug.

With a previous version of Ubuntu I already had this flickering. With
additional options for the kernel module I was able to fix the
  flickering.

  options nvidia NVreg_RegistryDwords=PerfLevelSrc=0x
  NVreg_Mobile=3 NVreg_ModifyDeviceFiles=0

With version 14.04 and the nvidia-331 (331.38-0ubuntu7) driver the
flickering reappeared although the line is still present in
  options.conf.

Using modprobe --resolve-alias nvidia I found the correct driver
module name which in my case is nvidia_331. Changing the module name
in options.conf to nvidia_331 X doesn't start anymore. Removing the
NVreg_ModifyDeviceFiles option X is starting again, but does not solve
  the issue.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 467654] Re: Wrong yellowish colors printing with Epson Stylus Photo R220

2014-08-09 Thread Pascal De Vuyst
Sorry for the late reply.

Ubuntu 9.10 is no longer supported, can you try a supported release:
preferably 14.04LTS with newer gutenprint.

Thanks in advance,
Pascal

Wrong yellowish colors printing with Epson Stylus Photo R220

Status in “cups” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: cups

I am using Ubuntu 9.10 updated as of today from beta 6.
With Ubuntu 9.04 I had no problems at all using my Epson Stylus Photo R220.
Now I am unable to have a decent print from Ubuntu.
I tried printing a black and white file made with inkscape, but it became
black and yellow. Tried saving it as a pdf and printing with evince: same
problem. Tried doing a png and printing with GIMP: same yellow print.
Today I saved an Inkscape page (with colors) as pdf and tried printing with
acroread (from Canonical partners' repository): the green becames yellow with
stripes, a blue gradient goes from yellow to pink and violet, and a blue square
becames dark grey.
I tried printing the ubuntu test page and the automatic test page, and they
both come out perfectly.

I am at your disposal for any other information you may need to find
out the problem. I don't want to reboot every now and open windows
  just to print a page!

i will report one more time the solution here for who has my problem
too in buntu family,...i have just tried on lucid again and i have
tried the solution and it works.

you know with the standard installation ,by the system ,you get this like URI

  hp:/usb/photosmart_7700_series?serial=MY396220QQK6

you need to replase with this

  usb://hp/photosmart%207700%20series?serial=MY396220QQK6

  note %20 = _

and with this stupid modification you got your printer on the way..
  without freeze.

you can modify the URI via terminal with

  sudo nano /etc/cups/printers.conf

then set it like default printer with

  lpoptions -d “hp_photosmart_7700_series”

hope this will be fixed some one day sigh.

  I am having trouble printing.
I print something, and it spews out a print job I sent to it days ago, a
one-page page from Mapquest.
New print jobs (usually from OpenOffice) do not take. The green light
starts flashing but then nothing comes out.

  This printed once.

  PCL XL error
  Subsystem: KERNEL

I think that part of the problem is that duplex printing does not work
unless you activate it in system / admin / printing. But I may be
wrong about that. I just activated that and it started printing duplex
-- short-side rather than the long-side I specified, and kept printing
the same thing over and over even though I'd specified one copy.

I tried unplugging the printer for an hour or so. Didn't work. Printer
does work with my husband's computer.

Title:
Installing kubuntu-desktop to normal ubuntu ruins unity

Status in “ubuntu-meta” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I installed kubuntu-desktop from the software centre then used kde. Then
when I got back to unity it's a wreck!
The icon theme, the notifications, the fonts were changed. And it's not that
I can change them back. They're the default now. I mean the theme is ambiance
(for example) but ambiance itself is not ambiance now anymore. It's some sort
of an ugly combination.

Also there are glitches like; double click (on the title bar) to
maximise doesn't work anymore. switching workspaces has some glitch
but I can't explain it in words. Also grub is black now and the
ubuntu loading screen (with the five dots below ubuntu) is now
kubuntu. It basically took over everything. I attached some photos
in this question at askubuntu http://askubuntu.com/questions/487815
  /kubuntu-desktop-took-over-everything .

Oh, and it even affects LXDE. For example I cannot change the icon
  theme in LXDE.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1354714] [NEW] buffer overrun in kadmind with ldap backend

2014-08-09 Thread Sam Hartman
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

Fix LDAP key data segmentation [CVE-2014-4345]

For principal entries having keys with multiple kvnos (due to use of
-keepold), the LDAP KDB module makes an attempt to store all the keys
having the same kvno into a single krbPrincipalKey attribute value.
There is a fencepost error in the loop, causing currkvno to be set to
the just-processed value instead of the next kvno. As a result, the
second and all following groups of multiple keys by kvno are each
stored in two krbPrincipalKey attribute values. Fix the loop to use
the correct kvno value.

CVE-2014-4345:

In MIT krb5, when kadmind is configured to use LDAP for the KDC
database, an authenticated remote attacker can cause it to perform an
out-of-bounds write (buffer overrun) by performing multiple cpw
-keepold operations. An off-by-one error while copying key
information to the new database entry results in keys sharing a common
kvno being written to different array buckets, in an array whose size
is determined by the number of kvnos present. After sufficient
iterations, the extra writes extend past the end of the
(NULL-terminated) array. The NULL terminator is always written after
the end of the loop, so no out-of-bounds data is read, it is only
written.

Historically, it has been possible to convert an out-of-bounds write
into remote code execution in some cases, though the necessary
exploits must be tailored to the individual application and are
usually quite complicated. Depending on the allocated length of the
array, an out-of-bounds write may also cause a segmentation fault
and/or application crash.

Bug description:
Internal Mic of Samsung Ativ book 9 (NP900X3G) is not supported

Stereo recording in audacity records sound from mic in L channel and only
loud noise in R channel (phase inverted?)
Muting R channel, and setting L channel to around 16%, in pavucontrol allows
to record audio, but in poor quality.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1354714] Re: buffer overrun in kadmind with ldap backend

Title:
buffer overrun in kadmind with ldap backend

Status in “krb5” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in “krb5” package in Debian:
  Fix Released

Bug description:

  Error: IllegalTag
  Operator: 0x25
  Position: 2796289

I think that part of the problem is that duplex printing does not work
unless you activate it in system / admin / printing. But I may be
wrong about that. I just activated that and it started printing duplex
-- short-side rather than the long-side I specified, and kept printing
the same thing over and over even though I'd specified one copy.

I tried unplugging the printer for an hour or so. Didn't work. Printer
does work with my husband's computer.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1306849] Re: Printing error

2014-08-09 Thread Pascal De Vuyst
According to it's specifications the Brother HL5370DW supports PCL6.
Please try the different PCL6/5e drivers offered under the manufacturer
Generic. Especially try the PCL-6/XL printer with Foomatic/pxlmono and the
PCL-5e printer with Foomatic/hpijs-pcl5e.
Does it work now?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1354733] [NEW] USB Modem permanently disconnets if there isn't constant network traffic

2014-08-09 Thread Alberto Salvia Novella
Public bug reported:

HOW TO REPRODUCE

1. Connect the USB modem.
2. Using the Network Manager, configure the mobile broadband network to connect
automatically as soon as it's available.
2. Use the Internet for a while.

**
EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR
**

- The Internet to stay connected.
- If the Internet loses signal for a while, to automatically reconnect as
specified in Network Manager.

**
REAL BEHAVIOUR
**

- Except if you are pinging a site each 5 second, the connection finishes going
down forever.
- The mobile network no longer appears in the Network Manager till you
reconnect the modem.

***
WORK-AROUND
***

- In the Terminal application, to enter ping google.com -i 5 and
leave it open.

RELEVANT DETAILS

- The work-around has been borrowed from the D-Link DWR-921 router,
which has this option included in its interface to keep the connection
alive.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1280759] Re: Unity shortcuts (Super+A/F/M/C/V) do not work on non-latin layout in Trusty - shortcuts are defined via keyboard layout, not the keys

Unity shortcuts (Super+A/F/M/C/V) do not work on non-latin layout in

Bug description:
There are shortcuts to open lenses in Unity, for example Super + A
for App Lens, or Super + F for Files Lens, etc. There are also
shortcuts in the Launcher Super + 1 to 9 to launch apps from the
Launcher. These shortcuts don't work if the keyboard layout is set to
a non-Latin layout, in my case Persian, where almost all the keys are
  mapped to new characters.

  HOW TO REPRODUCE:
Add a new Persian keyboard layout to the system, in addition to English, via
keyboard layout indicator -- Text Entry Settings.
Switch to the Persian layout (by clicking on the keyboard layout indicator).
  Press Super + F.

  WHAT HAPPENS:
Dash is not open. Nothing happens.

  WHAT SHOULD HEPPEN:
The Files Lens in the dash should open.
The shortcuts should be associated with the keys on the keyboard, not to the
characters they are associated with (which depends on the active keyboard
layout).
When I am typing something in Persian, and I want to search for a file, it is
not reasonable that I should first switch back to the English layout before I
can use a particular shortcut.

This problem does not happen in some other apps like gedit or Firefox.

  COMPARE TO GEDIT:
  Open gedit text editor.
  Write something.
  Switch to the Persian layout.
Press Ctrl + S (the shortcut to save the document).

WHAT HAPPENS, AND WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN:
  The save dialoge box appears.

I think this problem happens for all keyboard layouts that don't use Latin
characters.
Layout-wise, when I press Ctrl + S while Persian layout is active, I am
typing Ctrl + س.
But keyboard-wise, I am always pressing the same keyboard binding.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1029289] Re: Need to authorize my google account each time I boot the computer

2014-08-09 Thread André Canha
Hello

I started having this problem a few days back and posted a question here.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/252680

My Google account is a non-business and everyting has been working fine
until now.

I've tried deleting my google account on Ubuntu Online accounts, revoged access
to ubuntu and gnove evolution on my google account security settings and adding
the account again on ubuntu.
That time it asked me for the google authenticator code, which I entered, but
when I logged out and back in... it still was'nt working...

[Regression Potential] Minimal: the change to the Google plugin (in
account-plugins) simply changes the authentication method, in a way
that is well-documented. The change in signon-plugin-oauth2 affects
only those accounts/providers which use the OAuth refresh tokens --
which is only Google, at the moment -- and in a way that can't
possibly break any existing functionality; if the new code had some
mistake, the refresh token would be unusable and the system would
automatically fall back to requesting a new access token (which is
exactly what happens now, with this bug).

  I'll try to find why the account-plugins package was not uploaded;
indeed, both are required in order to fix this bug.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1347147] Re: krb5 database operations enter infinite loop

Bug description:
  [Impact]

On krb5 KDC databases with more than a few hundred principals,
operations can enter an infinite loop in the database library. This
affects both read and write operations. If operators are fortunate,
they will encounter this bug while testing a migration. If they are
not so fortunate, they will encounter this bug in a production KDC
when the number of principals crosses the threshold where this bug
manifests, resulting in a service outage and possible database
corruption. Probably the only way to restore service in that
situation is to install a patched KDC or to downgrade to an unaffected
  version.

Both Trusty and Utopic amd64 have been verified to have this issue.

One concrete reported example is an invocation of kdb5_util load (as
part of a slave KDC propagation) spinning:

  http://mailman.mit.edu/pipermail/kerberos/2014-July/020007.html

  Additional failure modes are likely

A branch is linked including the upstream work around for this bug,
along with two other patches to bugs already nominated for trusty
applied to the krb5 in trusty.

For utopic, the simplest fix is to rebuild krb5 with the compiler
currently in utopic. An alternative is to request that the Debian
maintainers (both monitoring this bug for such a request) upload the
upstream work around to Debian and sync that. You could do an ubuntu-
specific upload but it seems undesirable to introduce a change between
Ubuntu and Debian when all the right parties are happy to avoid it.

The upstream patch works around a compiler optimizer bug in the
gcc-4.8 series, which incorrectly deduces that a strict aliasing
violation has occurred and miscompiles part of the bundled libdb2
library that the KDC database back end depends upon. The
miscompilation causes a data structure to contain an inappropriate
cycle, which leads to an infinite loop when the structure is
  traversed.

  [Test Case]

  apt-get install krb5-kdc krb5-admin-server
  kdb5_util -W -r T create -s
  awk 'BEGIN{ for (i = 0; i  1024; i++) { printf(ank -randkey a%06d\n, i) }
}' /dev/null | kadmin.local -r T

(Enter any password for the master key when requested.)

On platforms with this issue, kadmin.local spins consuming 100% CPU
after a few hundred principals have been created. (This is a000762
  on two examples.)

  To clean up,

  rm /etc/krb5kdc/principal*

  or

  krb5kdc -r T destroy

but the latter can possibly enter the same infinite loop.

  [Regression Potential]

  Negligible.

It is theoretically possible that our upstream workaround, which
involves using TAILQ macros instead of CIRCLEQ macros in the bundled
libdb2 that backs the KDC database, will have some as-yet undiscovered
bugs or compiler interactions with consequences worse than this
current issue. I think this is rather unlikely.

The patched libdb2 passes both the extensive libdb2 test suite and the
rest of the krb5 test suite. Prior to patching, compiling krb5 with
an affected gcc would cause the krb5 test suite to stall when it
reached the libdb2 test suite. (The test suite stall is how we became
aware of the gcc optimizer bug.)

The BSD TAILQ macros are generally considered to be safer than the
CIRCLEQ macros, and the various open-source BSD derivatives have made
the corresponding change to their libdb sources years ago, with no
reported ill effects that I can see.

  Original report from Ben Kaduk:

  ==

In some conditions, propagating a kerberos database to a slave KDC server can
stall.
This is due to a misoptimization by gcc 4.8 of the CIRCLEQ famliy of macros,
apparently due to overzealous strict aliasing deductions.

One case of this stall is reported at
  http://mailman.mit.edu/pipermail/kerberos/2014-July/020007.html (and
the rest of the thread), and there is an entry in the upstream
  bugtracker at http://krbdev.mit.edu/rt/Ticket/Display.html?id=7860 .

gcc 4.9 (as used in Debian unstable at present) is not believed to
induce this problem. Upstream has patched their code to use the TAILQ
family of macros instead, as a workaround, but that workaround has not
yet appeared in an upstream release:
  https://github.com/krb5/krb5/commit/26d8744129

Because of the different compiler versions used on Debian and
