Hi,

At work I have access to an expensive professional photo spectrometer to
calibrate input and output devices in terms of color, Gretag Macbeth
(now X-Rite) Spectrolino and Spectroscan, and i1 (Eye  One).

I have profiled my monitors (currently either Dell P2210 or Samsung
SyncMaster 950p+) with them, and the monitor .ICC works perfectly well
not only under Windows, but also under Linux Mint 16 Petra 64 Bit (all
updates are installed).

But not so the printer profile. No matter whether I try to import the
ICC for the printer (trusty old HP Laserjet 4P) that I have created from
a print under Linux or the one I have created from a print under
Windows, colord rejects them with the cryptic error message "invalid
UTF-8". This happens when I start "color" over the "settings" dialog
panel.

When I try to import the ICC with right click on the file and select
"import with ICC profile installation" a couple of seconds nothing
happens, then I get the even stranger error message "File could not be
imported / The profile was not added in time".

Again, gthe .ICC itself is pefectly sane and works flawlessly under
Windows 7 and 8.1. I created it with the professional software "Profile
Maker 5" from Gretag Macbeth.

Seemed to work for me initially on #202. I copied two folders of music
via Nautilus MTP and they showed up immediately.

However, they are not visible anymore after a reboot for me.

default behaviour per-cloud

  Currently, if a user defines a custom proxy class for the node at the
  root of the introspection tree, it does not get returned by the
  launch_* methods.

  The reason for this is that, in _search.py, the
  _get_proxy_bases_from_introspection_xml does this:

  and ApplicationProxyObject is defined (just a few lines further down)

  registry. To fix this, let's make ApplicationProxyObject a simple

  and then use the existing methods defined in

  I'm too lazy to figure out what the exact call should be, but I'm sure

  some additional parameters, or some refactoring to pass in the base
  class.

  The test case for this should be:

  Write a simple Qml app script, and define a custom proxy class for the
  root node. Assert that:

  * When launching the app, we get an instance of the CPC, not a generated 
class.
  * When calling the get_root_instance call on any other proxy object, we get 
an instance of the CPC, not a generated class.

It's high level bug at opelapd,... openlapd should prevent all access to
files that can be manipulated correctly only trough openlapd tool's by
owning all rights to file's,... even opening (no changes nade) openlapd
file whit gedit will detroy CRC ! For same reason I give only access to
backup software and device to backup's,... not for root.

 libmirplatform (>= some_older_version_based_on_real_requirements),

  (2) Change libplatform* to include some ABI number in their names. Not
  ideal.

I was on #201 and added music which showed up. Upgraded to #202 and now
I see no music in the music scope and no online video in the video
scope. I still see local video in the video scope.

However in the music scope if I search I can see music search results.

Once I finish searching I can now see all my music again

low volume is expected when you plug headphone into line out Jack
because HP AMP is not enabled in line out node 0x14

you need hint add_jack_modes=1 to create line out Jack mode control

Hi ign_christian, 
Tested as you suggested, the site is listing v4.3.0.4 for download.
It is working as expected in that release (albeit #78845 is still present). 

I initially attempted to report the bug in Launchpad, but there isn't
(or I couldn't find) a way for that particular ppa.

  know how to trigger a graceful shutdown on ProLiant m400 cartridges.

  Without this change, the power down button will not initiate an OS shutdown 
on this platform.

  Push button. Watch poweroff occur.
  [Regression Potential]
  The new rule is pretty tightly bound to the m400 system - so the risk of this 
rule matching and impacting behavior on a different platform is minimal. This 
will presumably cause new code to run and read /proc/device-tree/model on other 
platforms - but this is already done for the m800 system in both utopic and 
trusty.

Thanks Stephen Spencer again.

Exactly same situation with Gandi.net provider. Issue could be diagnosed
thanks to Stephen explanation. And the solution was as simple as
switching kernel from 2.6.32-x86_64 to 3.10-x86_64 in gandi.net
administrative pages (in disk properties).

  low reolution

  i have two DELL screens with 1280x1024 resolution. 
  1st connected visa VAG is working fine 
  2nd connected visa DVI-i-1 using a DVI-i to SVGA connector does not show full 
resolution its showing as Unkonw Display. with max resolution of 1024x768 I can 
add high resolution suing following commnds

Caused by the removal of the dependencies on libu1db and libcurl3-nss.
Apparently, the music scope was relying on those being there without
explicitly specifying them as a dependency. curl will go into the SDK
because AGPS needs it too. Don't know about how the story with u1db will
fall out.

But I don't think this is a problem in unity-scopes-api.

Most people won't create a contact and expect it being a favourite 
automatically, because it is a conscious decision to "star" a person/contact.
I would say we leave the behaviour the way it is and see what feedback we will 
receive. Plus when a new contact is created, we are showing the saved contact 
card. This view actually allows us to favourite the contact if needed.

I have confirmed it's the scopes-api release by going back to
yesterday's image, then upgrading only libunity-scopes3 and unity-
scopes-shell. This exposes the non-determinism in the music scope on 50%

I'm reasonably confident it isn't that, michi. I think we have some sort
of non-determinstic problem with scope startup in aggregating queries.
At least in the mediascanner scopes.

Is it possible we have changed the way (maybe in terms of locking) you
need to use the scopes client API in aggregating scopes with some of
those race fixes in the last release?

Pretty sure it isn't that. Although it looks like mediascanner is now
under confinement? Wasn't aware of that.

You can see it on the desktop sometimes, too. I just found that none of
the aggregated scopes appeared in unity-scope-tool under Music (i.e.
local music, grooveshark, 7digital).

  Sometimes, after a reboot, whoopsie sends large block of data
  (sometimes here 60+ megabytes) via https to the IP 91.189.92.55
  (daisy.ubuntu.com).

  User does not know what data is being sent "now", and why it is being
  sent "now". User only sees the uplink clogged for quite some time.

  Workaround: disable the network, wipe out /var/crash and enable the
  network again.

  There is no way to control whoopsie except disabling automated
  bugreports in the SystemSettings/Privacy.

  
  Suggestions:

  - in the SystemSettings/Privacy, add some scheduling control like
  "sending data: only allowed from 2am to 5am local time"

  - alert the user if the datafile is larger than -say- 500 kilobytes
  and wait for user confirmation.

perhaps an strace might help...the group I want to have as primary group
is called DummyGroup here and is part of an active directory
infrastructure. In 12.04 everything worked and I was able to change to
that group.

Public bug reported:

Each time I connect my blue-tooth device D100 the initial volume is
always set to max. So even though it have been on, let say 10 % when
disconnecting last time, it still get turned automatically up to max
every time. Even more weird, the slider for this device in the GUI, i.e.
"sound settings", is not even near 100 %. As soon as I touch this slider
the volume is set correctly.

This is very inconvenient. A concrete scenario: (1) I put on a music
track on a media player, (2) the music starts playing on the build-in
speakers, (3) I go to the blue-tooth icon in the task bar and select
Creative D100 -> Connection, (4) after a few seconds the device is
connected and the volume is suddenly at max!

As this is my first bug report I hope that the above is sufficient.
Otherwise please contact me for further information.

It's actually the subsequent 'adb shell' which is producing the protocol
fault error:

$ adb wait-for-device && echo $? && adb shell
0
error: protocol fault (no status)
$ echo $?
1

'adb help' describes wait-for-device as, "block until device is online".
The meaning of 'online' however is not defined. It either means:

(1) the device has reached some sequence point in its boot path.
(2) the device is ready to accept 'adb shell' connections.

I'm guessing it actually means (1). However, users would expect it to
mean (2) to be useful.

A rather awful work-around for current behaviour:

$ adb wait-for-device && while ! adb shell true; do sleep 1; done && adb
shell

Interestingly, the layout of m.espn.com depends on the viewport width.
So when testing on desktop with the mobile UA, we’re getting the right
content (mp4 videos). Resizing the window to shrink it gets us the RTSP
stream.

white square, it looks very lonely :)

  I know the design calls for thumbnail previews of the top sites, but
  this will not be ready in time for RTM.

  So we need an interim solution that looks better then the current
  solution until thumbnail previews land.

  Possible Ideas:
  - make Top Sites a simple list, similar to history view with Favicon on the 
left
  - don't change the layout, but use a background image in the square with the 
favicon overlayed on top

Hi all. Thank you for your constructive feedback on the bug. Regarding what mvo 
said
("But we could remove the cache data.") -- that is closer to the nature of this 
bug. We recognize there may be user data involved (that is, XDG_DATA_HOME). 
However, we believe .cache and .config directories could be safely removed. We 
understand that the decision of whether to keep user data (again, 
XDG_DATA_HOME) would certainly require design input and update to the 
application removal interface. Nevertheless, if you consider the user is 
*removing* the application and not *logging out* (where the latter would make 
sense to keep all 3 directories [data, config, cache]), removing .cache and 
.config would be the natural expectation of the user. And I'm saying that from 
purely user perspective, not a developer one.

To summarize, we think that removing .cache and .config would be a
natural thing to do and perhaps we could proceed with the fix, while we
defer the matter of keeping/removing XDG_DATA_HOME of the app. In that
case, if it's Google Drive, Instagram, or similar app, you
documents/pictures are safe even if you remove the app, assuming the app
has stored them in the right location. The things you loose are things
like cached image thumbnails (which usually can be re-generated), custom
layout options, ringtone selection and similar settings, which does not
have any serious impact on user's app data, that is being removed. All
of these are easy to recreate, assuming we leave the XDG_DATA_HOME,
until we have a real UI/fix for it.

trusty servers to utopic), the problem he saw was a combination of this

  Previously, init.d scripts that were replaced by upstart jobs had
  "upstart-job" symlink as a redirect in-place, which directed users at
  using upstart commands. Despite the good intentions, that never
  actually taught people about the correct interfaces. Now with the
  advent of co-installability of multiple init systems, users may have
  systemd, upstart, and sysv-init all installed on users system and have
  init.d scripts / upstart jobs / systemd units all available. To avoid
  any daubt, we should support executing /etc/init.d/ scripts which may
  call into upstart, or into systemd, or actually execute the script in
  question depending on whether there is native configuration for that
  particular job and which init system we are running under.

  In Ubuntu 13.10, the Upstart job and the init.d script do not work
  properly.  In previous versions, the init.d script was a symlink to
  the wrapper script around upstart (/lib/init/upstart-job).  This
  conflict means that if the server was started using the init.d script,
  upstart does not recognize that the server is running and will attempt
  to start a second instance of mysqld.

  Also problematic is that if the upstart job is started using the
  service or start commands, the init.d script's "stop" function runs a
  mysql shutdown, but upstart simply restarts mysqld (because it's
  marked respawn in the upstart config).

Guessing slightly here:

unity-system-compositor crashes, session dies, unity8 is trying to exit,
but tries to talk to dbus when destroying
core::dbus::Signal::~Signal, but dbus is no

Oh and yeah, it's between dbus-cpp and media-hub that the abort happens
(probably shouldn't happen if you're just trying to shut down but dbus

recently, I guess after 14.04.1 was released… I have a regular Google account, 
too. Firefox keeps me logged in, Online Accounts doesn't. I don't have to

Bug description:
  [Test Case] Sometimes after one day, sometimes after one week, the
  system indicator will turn red and the Google account will be marked
  as needing reauthentication. Time can vary, but any period shorter
  than one month is a symptom of the bug.

  [Regression Potential] Minimal: the change to the Google plugin (in
  account-plugins) simply changes the authentication method, in a way
  that is well-documented. The change in signon-plugin-oauth2 affects
  only those accounts/providers which use the OAuth refresh tokens --
  which is only Google, at the moment -- and in a way that can't
  possibly break any existing functionality; if the new code had some
  mistake, the refresh token would be unusable and the system would
  automatically fall back to requesting a new access token (which is
  exactly what happens now, with this bug).

  I'll try to find why the account-plugins package was not uploaded;
  indeed, both are required in order to fix this bug.

32 bit 3.16.0-9 boots and runs fine (for a development release) using it
right now.

Downloaded and tried both 32 and 64 same day, 64 fails 32 runs.

What's the difference between the drivers for 32 bit and 64 bit?

How do I tell which driver is being used?
