[Touch-packages] [Bug 1369474] Re: Conversation tagged with wrong contact after sending sms
This is a nasty bug, because I am only encountering it once in a while and so far I haven't been able to determine when it occurs other than just sending an sms to somebody in my phone book. I have seen it with a number of different contacts, whom have no phone numbers in common. Sometimes I get the name of a contact that is no 3 or 4 in the chat list, sometimes it kids me with the no 2 on the list. I just sent a text and did not encounter the bug. I will monitor this further and try to see if it possible to see any kind of pattern. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to messaging-app in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1369474 Title: Conversation tagged with wrong contact after sending sms Status in “messaging-app” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Mako running MultiROM with #239 1. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1318360] Re: Poor microphone quality (mako)
I guess that Android applies some kind of filter to prevent the distortion somehow picked up by the mic. Sound gets worse if I speak in a louder voice and the output at the other end is apparantly very loud also. As Nexus 4 is still the main phone used for Ubuntu Touch, I believe the platform would benefit greatly if this issue could be solved sooner than later. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1318360 Title: Poor microphone quality (mako) Status in “pulseaudio” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: After months of complaints from people talking to me on the phone (mako ubuntu touch), I finally got around to use multiROM to dual boot Ubuntu Touch and Android. Several people can confirm that there is a noticable difference in terms of sound/microphone quality between Android and UT in phone calls. With UT, my voice gets distorted to an extent that person at the other end have real difficulties to hear what I am saying, while with Android call quality is much better with no distortion. I have had a suspicion for a long time that this might be a software and not a hardware issue. After trying Android and Ubuntu on the same hardware I believe this suspicion is proved correct. This issue has persisted in all the builds I have tried since at least the beginning of the year, but probably longer. I am now at r17 of Utopic. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1374207] Re: CVE-2014-7169 fix not effective on trusty
Thomas, I'm not sure about your test -- there is a /bin/echo in the filesystem (from the coreutils package) so checking for a file named 'echo' in that directory is not indicative of any attack. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1002258] Re: initramfs-tools: Please support mounting of /usr in the initramfs
** Changed in: initramfs-tools (Debian) Status: New = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to initramfs-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1002258 Title: initramfs-tools: Please support mounting of /usr in the initramfs Status in “initramfs-tools” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “initramfs-tools” package in Debian: Fix Released Bug description: Imported from Debian bug http://bugs.debian.org/652459: Package: initramfs-tools Version: 0.99 Severity: normal Tags: patch Hi, In order to make the libraries and binaries in /usr available during early boot, it would be desirable to be able to mount /usr in addition to the rootfs inside the initramfs. This patch implements a generic solution into two parts 1) Generation of /etc/fstab in the initramfs, including the rootfs and all the filesystems desired to be mounted 2) In local mountroot(), rather than just mounting the rootfs, loop over all mountpoints in /etc/fstab and mount them. Note that this can replace the ROOT= option with the fstab entry alone, though if set, ROOT= supercedes the root entry. If the host /etc/fstab does not contain a root entry, a dummy one is generated to ensure that the rootfs is always the first entry in the initramfs fstab. This also means that the rootfs may be mounted with the options in /etc/fstab. This isn't intended to apply directly--it's more of a proof of concept. I've tested the fstab generator; I haven't yet tested local mountroot(). Not being totally familiar with the initramfs internals, it might also need: - inclusion of modules for the additional filesystems - ability to NFS mount filesystems other than the rootfs, i.e. it might need nfsmount for local (not that this is a useful use case) Also note that the initramfs mount option (patch sent upstream) is not yet in mount(8), and it would need to be before the option could be used. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1140716]
(In reply to comment #184) (In reply to comment #183) I recommend configuring i915.semaphores=0. I did it and it doesn't freeze anymore. Meanwhile I tested both i915.semaphores=0 and i915.semaphores=1 neither of which did help in my case. But with i915.semaphores=0 my system became much more unstable and even crashed on its own after some days without stress on graphics (just ran some desktop apps like thunar or vlc for music only - no movies). With i915.semaphores=1 the system is at least stable (for some weeks) as long as I don't heavily use desktop applications. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1140716 Title: [regression] 3.5.0-26-generic and 3.2.0-39-generic GPU hangs on Sandybridge Status in Direct Rendering Infrastructure: In Progress Status in The Linux Kernel: Invalid Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in “linux-lts-quantal” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in “linux-lts-raring” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in “mesa” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in “linux” source package in Precise: Invalid Status in “linux-lts-quantal” source package in Precise: Invalid Status in “linux-lts-raring” source package in Precise: Invalid Status in “mesa” source package in Precise: Triaged Status in “linux” source package in Quantal: Invalid Status in “linux-lts-quantal” source package in Quantal: Invalid Status in “linux” source package in Raring: Invalid Status in “linux-lts-quantal” source package in Raring: Invalid Status in “linux” package in Debian: New Status in “linux” package in Fedora: Unknown Bug description: I'm getting errors about GPU hangs every minute or so (usually only when using FF and scrolling a webpage or something). [Touch-packages] [Bug 1343970] Re: gst-plugins-good pkg-config file issues
Jim pointed me to this. I'll take a look. We have the pcfile because we move some plugins downstream from -bad to -good, and this includes the gstphotography library. We made it so that the -bad pcfile has Requires on this new one, so that upstream software does not have to be modified. This is a change that was done in good faith really, and I'm sorry it's causing a problem here. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to gst-plugins-good1.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1343970 Title: gst-plugins-good pkg-config file issues Status in “gst-plugins-good1.0” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Came across a small bug while trying to build the gst-rtsp-server-1.2.3. Using Ubuntu 14.04, and gst-plugins installed from the official ubuntu repositories. While building, it tries to use the gstreamer-plugins-good-1.0.pc pkg-config file (which has pluginsdir missing). 1. If libgstreamer-plugins-good1.0-dev_1.2.4-1~ubuntu1_i386.deb is removed (which removes the .pc file too), the rtsp-server builds fine. 2. Another fix will be to add the pluginsdir in the .pc file (The debian package should be modified ). After reading up a bit more, I came across this in gst-check.m4 dnl Will set GST_PLUGINS_GOOD_DIR for use in Makefile.am. Note that this will dnl only be set in an uninstalled setup, since -good ships no .pc file and in dnl an installed setup all plugins will be found in GST_PLUGINS_DIR anyway. This makes very hard to switch between similarly looking windows like terminals. How to reproduce: * launch four or so terminal windows; * write something different on each of them to be able to tell them apart; * move each window to a different corner, possibly using the auto-resizing feature of Unity; * click on the terminal icon in the launcher; * many terminal windows are displayed; * choose the thumbnail in the right-top corner; * very likely a window that was in another corner has been selected; * try again various time and realize how confusing this all is. The thing that is more strange is that you have to move the mouse pointer to a certain point (let's say right-top), then you see the window has appeared far away (let's say bottom-left) so you have to move your mouse again. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1353951] Re: gnome online accounts require autentication on startup
Yes, I'm sure. I use the Pc for 12h a day. The good thing is that now this bug happens only once or two times a day, not every day. Tha bad thing is that I don't even know how to reproduce it. So it's difficult to help you in the debugging process. Nevertheless I think is acceptable to roll out the update. I keep the proposed repo active so I can install the latest fixes and I will let you know when it's definitely fixed for me. Thanks -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to evolution-data-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1353951 Title: gnome online accounts require autentication on startup Status in Evolution Data Server: Fix Released Status in “evolution-data-server” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “gnome-online-accounts” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in “evolution-data-server” source package in Trusty: Fix Committed Status in “gnome-online-accounts” source package in Trusty: Invalid Bug description: [Impact] Google calendar integration is broken, and users are requested to re-enter their Google password everytime they log in, or everytime they enable/disable their Google account from the System Settings. [Test Case] 1) open gnome-online-accounts 2) click + and add a google account 3) enter user name and password 4) confirm permissions for gnome 5) Black window pops up and asks for google password, but does not accept the correct password. Google Contacts are not available in Gnome or Thunderbird [Regression Potential] Minimal: the fix is a backport of a patch from the evolution-data-server code which is already in 14.10, and which only touches the calendar code (which is currently broken). Gnome online accounts requires autentication on startup, but even typing the correct password in the box, the program says the password is wrong. By the way evolution and other programs work well with online accounts. I'm using Ubuntu-gnome 14.04 LTS 64bit on different machines and have the same behaviour. Just to be clear: online-accounts works well, just at startup it opens an administration window where it requires to insert the password for my google accounts; if I type the correct password it says that the password is wrong, the only way to close the window is to click on discard and then all works well. So I (re)enabled it, and sync started automatically. Not sure what's happening - there's a chance that it was user error, but it feels to me like account access settings weren't be recognised or that UI was displaying correctly or that the upgrade reset the settings. I'll report here if I see further strange behaviour or can reproduce it, but it's in a working state now. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to address-book-app in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1370612 Title: contacts from a google account fail to sync Status in Sync monitor for Ubuntu Touch: New Status in “address-book-app” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I have a google account set up, and contact sync enabled. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1374383] [NEW] Clicking on Files opens new window, rather than switch to already open one
Public bug reported: Although I can currently recreate the bug with Files (Nautilius, is it?), I remember having seen such a thing before with other windows, although only with previous Ubuntu versions. The bug is as follows. In the current desktop, I open Files (and I see the arrows on the left saying how many of such windows are open). It only happens if Files is open once. I click on a partition that is not automatically mounted on startup (e.g. a Windows partition) (I haven't tested with one that automatically mounts but is not a part of /), regardless of whether it was previously mounted or not. When I switch away from that window (e.g. click on Firefox), then I click back on its icon, I get a new Files window, rather than the old one I had open, which was viewing the windows partition. If you can't replicate this, try CTRL+L (leave the cursor on the path box) on that window and then switch away and back. Note that with ALT+TAB and ALT+` I can see the window alright. Also, if there is more than one Files window, whether all looking at windows partitions or not, there is no problem, even if the first such window was the last to be viewed, clicking on the Files icon correctly returns to that window. In summary, when Files is opened once and viewing a windows partition, clicking on a different application and back on its icon opens a new Files window rather than switch to the old one. On a desktop the list is quite a bit longer: ubuntu-minimal depends on upstart. avahi-daemon depends on upstart (= 0.6.7-4). friendly-recovery depends on upstart. (See bug 1351316, needs sysv/systemd script first) initscripts depends on upstart. ureadahead depends on upstart (= 0.6.0). (No need to fix -- can just drop that along with upstart for systemd images, systemd has readahead built in) plymouth depends on upstart (= 1.11-0ubuntu3). dbus depends on upstart (= 0.6.3-6). unity-services depends on upstart. init depends on upstart. (Not important right now, switch to alternative deps once systemd is ready) Most of the latter probably don't need to; versioned depends might be converted into equivalent versioned breaks, for others an alternative dependency might be considered. The main exception is that we are using session upstart on the desktop (unity-services etc.), for this we probably need to split out an upstart-sysv (for /sbin/init, reboot, halt, etc., similar to systemd-sysv) or an upstart-core (similar to sysvinit-core vs. sysvinit). [Touch-packages] [Bug 1374386] [NEW] sftp client stores files and directories with wrong permissions received by the server and lets download fail
Public bug reported: The problem occurs always, but only with remote site reporting wrong/broken file permissions: sftp downloads files with those wrong permissions. The download succeeds, but to access the file, you have to chmod them. Recursive downloads fail reproducibly. A workaround for a manual download could be to chmod the directories and try the command again, then chmod the downloaded tree again, try the download again, ... , until the download was successful. The remote site reports wrong permissions (no permission at all) for each directory and file. sftp takes these permissions for the download, even when it is not told to do so via option. As a result the downloaded directories have no write permissions and downloading the contained files fails. sftp ls -l d- 32 008192 Sep 25 18:45 download sftp sftp get -r download/ Fetching /home/test/download/ to download Retrieving /home/test/download Retrieving /home/test/download/20140821 mkdir download/20140821: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140826 mkdir download/20140826: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140828 mkdir download/20140828: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140902 mkdir download/20140902: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140903 mkdir download/20140903: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140904 mkdir download/20140904: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140909 mkdir download/20140909: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140910 mkdir download/20140910: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140911 mkdir download/20140911: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140916 mkdir download/20140916: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140917 mkdir download/20140917: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140918 mkdir download/20140918: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140923 mkdir download/20140923: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140925 mkdir download/20140925: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140717 mkdir download/20140717: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140722 mkdir download/20140722: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140723 mkdir download/20140723: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140729 mkdir download/20140729: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140730 mkdir download/20140730: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140731 mkdir download/20140731: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140806 mkdir download/20140806: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140807 mkdir download/20140807: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140812 mkdir download/20140812: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140814 mkdir download/20140814: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140819 mkdir download/20140819: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140820 mkdir download/20140820: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140827 mkdir download/20140827: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140924 mkdir download/20140924: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140929 mkdir download/20140929: Permission denied Retrieving /home/test/download/20140724 mkdir download/20140724: Permission denied sftp The directory has been created, but with empty permissions, thus downloading the content fails, because the local files/directories could not be created. mm@janus:~/download/download-test/test $ ll total 4 d- 2 mm mm 4096 Jul 25 13:41 download mm@janus:~/download/download-test/test $ Expected behaviour: sftp should use local umask or given umask for creating files and directories. This is visible with the following branch of click scope: https://code.launchpad.net/~stolowski/unity-scope-click/no-empty- departments/+merge/230077 The case is as follows - consider we're always in the root of all departments in the dash. 1) scope responds with A and B sub-departments of All departments; A and B are shown when you open the departments menu. 2) scope content is refreshed somehow (e.g. you redo a search), and now it responds with A only. Result: both A and B are still shown. Expected result: only A is shown. Steps to reproduce with the above branch of click scope: 1) Go to Ubuntu Store and install an app from a department, that was previously not shown in Apps. 2) After installation completes, go back to Apps - search results are refreshed (new app appears), and new department appears in the departments menu. 3) Uninstall that app: search results are refreshed, but the department that is now empty doesn't disappear (you can verify with scopes-cli that it's not returned anymore by the scope); after reboot however the department is not shown anymore To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-scopes-shell/+bug/1354362/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Steps to reproduce: 1) Open Apps. 2) Go to Internet department 3) Click the orange 'Ubuntu store' icon at the bottom (its category title should say Get more apps like thisfrom the Store). 4) You should be presented with the 'Top interent Apps' category of the store, and department tree has only All Departments and Internet subdepartment. The main exception is that we are using session upstart on the desktop (unity-services etc.), for this we probably need to split out an upstart-sysv (for /sbin/init, reboot, halt, etc., similar to systemd-sysv) or an upstart-core (similar to sysvinit-core vs. sysvinit).
