[Touch-packages] [Bug 1198653] Re: It is not possible to drag & drop and pin icon to launch bar when auto-hiding is turned on

2014-12-04 Thread Łukasz Maniak
Yes, I've noticed that I can always reproduce the bug from second try.
For example I've booted up Ubuntu, turned auto-hide on and in first try
I can move the icon, but when I'll miss the dock and move mouse out of
the search box and bar hides, from now always I can't anymore attach
items from search because bar keeps hiding. Maybe this is some cache
issue here.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1396951] Re: webbrowser-app’s autopilot tests fail on otto: access to /dev/shm is denied

2014-12-04 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Additionally, i386 and and amd64 builds now also fail in CI, because of
the same error (interestingly they pass on armhf, I guess because they
are being run on real hardware as opposed to chroots for the other
architectures). See e.g. https://jenkins.qa.ubuntu.com/job/webbrowser-
app-vivid-amd64-ci/86/console.

incorrect permissions on /dev/shm. Try 'sudo chmod 1777 /dev/shm' to fix.

At a first glance it looks to me like the problem is in the otto setup
  itself.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1398859] Re: [udev regression] unmounting NTFS causes mount.ntfs process to get stuck in eternal kernel deep sleep

2014-12-04 Thread Martin Pitt
It's enough to downgrade udev before the "umount /mnt", everything else
works with 215. Conversely, mkfs/mount with 208, upgrading to udev 215,
and umount then hangs. stracing umount /mnt indeed hangs forever in the
umount() call.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1380076] Re: Can't suspend on Surface Pro 3

2014-12-04 Thread Fastguy
What about supporting the real thing, ie "connected standby" or

this and without real S3 state, linux won't be really useful on a SP3
I'm afraid.

Doing it manually also fails, and nothing appears in dmesg:

  Error while writing to stdout
  write_loop: Invalid argument

  And, more interestingly,
  #cat /sys/power/state

  freeze disk

  Using the not-so-good-and-apparently-unsupported
  #echo "freeze" > /sys/power/state

does seem to successfully suspend, however I cannot resume from this
(assumed to be a separate issue). Likewise, pm-hibernate seems
  somewhat functional.

I am using a the utopic unicorn kernel compiled from git at
kernel.ubuntu.com, with a tiny patch that is required for my keyboard
to work (hard to file bug reports without a keyboard). The official
kernel behaves identically, as does vanilla 3.17 from the mainline
  folder of kernel-ppa.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1399135] [NEW] LibreOffice Writer no longer splits a table cell vertically

2014-12-04 Thread octalman
Public bug reported:

This used to work correctly. When I tried recently to split a
LibreOffice Writer table cell into two or more horizontally aligned sub-
cell columns ("vertical split"), the split was made horizontally,
resulting in additional lines within the cell instead of additional
columns within the cell, as intended.

When horizontal split is chosen, the same effect results. That is, both
cell split options produce identical results.

I'm running Ubuntu 14.04, with all updates current (to within a week).
I first discovered this problem about a month or two ago.

What is the version of apt-offline you are using ? Also, I cannot make
out the non-english error message.
There were issues, that were fixed upstream in version 1.5 of apt-offline.

  Test case.
  - Switch the phone to Spanish.
  - Reboot.
  - Go to Ubuntu App Store.
  - Search for "Calendario".

  Expected result.
  - Calendar shows, with its translated name (.desktop file).

  Actual result.
  - No result.

So, searches and results must support .desktop localization.

This used to work correctly. When I tried recently to split a

resulting in additional lines within the cell instead of additional
columns within the cell, as intended.

When horizontal split is chosen, the same effect results. That is,
both cell split options produce identical results.

[udev regression] unmounting NTFS causes mount.ntfs process to get

Bug description:
  Since Mid-November the udisks2 test (https://jenkins.qa.ubuntu.com/job
/vivid-adt-udisks2/? shows it happened between Nov 13 and 19) exhibits
a regression with NTFS: Unmounting causes the ntfs-3g process to go
into kernel deep sleep and umount hangs forever.

  This can be reproduced with

sudo apt install ntfs-3g
sudo modprobe scsi_debug
# check dmesg which drive this created; e. g. /dev/sda
sudo mkntfs -F /dev/sda
sudo mount /dev/sda /mnt

Now you have a process which is happy:
  root 12821 0.0 0.0 15272 1948 ?Ss 15:49 0:00
/sbin/mount.ntfs /dev/sda /mnt -o rw

You can work with /mnt, edit files, etc. But now unmount:

sudo umount /mnt

This never returns, and the process goes into uninterruptible kernel
  sleep ("D"):

  root 12928 0.0 0.0 15272 1948 ?Ds 15:55 0:00
  /sbin/mount.ntfs /dev/sda /mnt -o rw

  Steps to reproduce:
  1) Open Apps.
  2) Go to Games department
  3) Click the orange 'Ubuntu store' icon at the bottom (its category title
should say "Get more apps like this from the Store").
  4) You should be presented with the 'Top Games' category of the store, and
department tree has only "All" and "Games" subdepartment. It's not possible to
navigate to the root of the store from it, as UI thinks "All" is the current
department. Clicking "Games" department, and then "All" restores the correct
departments menu.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1399025] Re: new ListItem click does not work without leading/trailing actions

Actually you are right, and there's hop need for any kind of
highlightPolicy to be present, as we can detect whether an action is
attached to a ListItem, i.e has clicked or pressAndHold connected to a
slot. So in that sense the bug is valid.

  application developper's life easier.

The indicator work is done and the library is ready and we started
  porting applications

The current stack is being tested in https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-
  desktop/+archive/ppa/

  It includes
  - indicator-messages
  - gwibber
  - indicator-telepathy
  - thunderbird (soon, work is being finished)

which is what we consider the minimal set for landing the feature

for quantal we will add those soon:
  - pidgin
  - xchat-indicator
  - evolution-indicator

In the package ir-keytable version Ubuntu 0.8.6-1ubuntu2 the file
/lib/udev/rc_keymaps/imon_pad is missing some key scancodes as defined
in rc_imon_pad.c driver for the Veris RM200 remote. This means some
buttons on the remote have no action, ir-keytable -t does not report
them being pressed. Appending the following to the file makes the
remaining buttons work. I think this highlights another bug; ir-
keytable should, optionally and in concert with the rc_imon_pad
driver, report key events that are unprocessed.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1398431] Re: Can't mute a conference call

2014-12-04 Thread Tiago Salem Herrmann
Thanks for the screenshot. It looks like the call is in voicemail mode, so the
keypad and mute button are intentionally disabled.
There is a bug in telephony-service that could set conferences as voicemail
calls when the voicemail number isn't provided by the sim card, which explains
the problem.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1398859] Re: [udev regression] unmounting NTFS causes mount.ntfs process to get stuck in eternal kernel deep sleep

2014-12-04 Thread Martin Pitt
Correction, previous bisect apparently was unclean. I clean/rebuild
everything now, and it's pointing to
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/systemd/systemd/commit/?id=02ba8fb3357daf5 .
Reverting this indeed fixes the problem.

Title:
[udev regression] unmounting NTFS causes mount.ntfs process to get
stuck in eternal kernel deep sleep

Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  Since Mid-November the udisks2 test (https://jenkins.qa.ubuntu.com/job
/vivid-adt-udisks2/? shows it happened between Nov 13 and 19) exhibits
a regression with NTFS: Unmounting causes the ntfs-3g process to go
into kernel deep sleep and umount hangs forever.

  This can be reproduced with

sudo apt install ntfs-3g
sudo modprobe scsi_debug
# check dmesg which drive this created; e. g. /dev/sda
sudo mkntfs -F /dev/sda
sudo mount /dev/sda /mnt

Now you have a process which is happy:
  root 12821 0.0 0.0 15272 1948 ?Ss 15:49 0:00
/sbin/mount.ntfs /dev/sda /mnt -o rw

You can work with /mnt, edit files, etc. But now unmount:

sudo umount /mnt

This never returns, and the process goes into uninterruptible kernel
  sleep ("D"):

  root 12928 0.0 0.0 15272 1948 ?Ds 15:55 0:00
  /sbin/mount.ntfs /dev/sda /mnt -o rw

The strace for the umount until the hang is

  ubuntu@autopkgtest:~$ sudo strace -vvtts1024 -p 12928

  5. open the app spread from the right edge and force close the address book
app
  6. navigate to dialer (or messaging) app and save a contact from the main view
  7. now open the address book again and try to interact with the "You have no
contacts" dialog

Expected behaviour: you will either be able to dismiss the dialog or
  sync contacts

Actual behaviour: you won't be able to tap anything or interact with
the address book because the dialog is not dismissible.

The interesting thing here is that it is possible to access the
address book and contacts from the dialer and messaging app but not
  directly.

Marking as "Critical" because the address book becomes completely
unusable even if you restart your device.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1003950] Re: launcher does not show minimized update manager while clicked

2014-12-04 Thread Captain Chaos
This is still happening on 14.04. I too have multiple monitors, with the
middle one being the main monitor. There have been other programs which
can't cope with that, perhaps it has something to do with this problem
as well?

It would be quite nice to have it confirmed for trusty. It only shows as
"nominated" above. I don't know what that means, but it definitely isn't
fixed on 14.04...

Update manager is showing up in the dock but I can click on the icon

Even if I alt-tab to the application nothing shows up. This happens
only when update manager runs on its own. If I kill it and then launch
it myself it comes to the foreground just fine.

I'm not 100% sure whether this is a unity, compiz, or update-manager

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1133162] [NEW] video does not recover after suspend with nouveau driver

2014-12-04 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When running 12.04.2 with the nouveau driver, the system (X) does not
recover after suspend and the system eventually freezes.

The machine starts to recover from suspend, however, the screen remains
black, or in one case, became a weird black and white zig-zag pattern
with a mouse pointer visible. At this point, the machine churns for a
bit then completely freezes, requiring a power-cycle to return to a
working state.

Installing the nVidia proprietary driver resolves this issue:
ii nvidia-common1:0.2.44.2
  Find obsolete NVIDIA drivers
ii nvidia-current-updates 304.64-0ubuntu0.2
NVIDIA binary Xorg driver, kernel module and VDPAU library

Using that as a workaround, I am able to suspend and resume this
machine.

Bug description:
I am cross-posting this issue, which I reported to Valve's Source GIT
issue tracker, because it was suggested that the regression may be due
to Ubuntu Xorg changes rather than changes on the Steam end.

  Link: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Source-1-Games/issues/1822

  Symptom --
DoD:Source loads normally. But after a few minutes of playing (not a specific
time as far as I can tell), the game freezes in place. A short clip (maybe a
quarter of a second) of the last audio that played then repeats over and over
on a loop. The process has to be killed manually with a QUIT or HUP signal for
good measure. This is a new issue that just arose today.

I have included system info, kernel log, and output when game is run
  from terminal and crashes.

Title:
Steam game began crashing 2014-09-12 (cross-post Source bugtracker)

Status in steam package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

I have included system info, kernel log, and output when game is run
  from terminal and crashes.

video does not recover after suspend with nouveau driver

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
When running 12.04.2 with the nouveau driver, the system (X) does not
recover after suspend and the system eventually freezes.

The machine starts to recover from suspend, however, the screen
remains black, or in one case, became a weird black and white zig-zag
pattern with a mouse pointer visible. At this point, the machine
churns for a bit then completely freezes, requiring a power-cycle to
  return to a working state.

Installing the nVidia proprietary driver resolves this issue:
  ii nvidia-common1:0.2.44.2
Find obsolete NVIDIA drivers
  ii nvidia-current-updates 304.64-0ubuntu0.2
NVIDIA binary Xorg driver, kernel module and VDPAU library

Using that as a workaround, I am able to suspend and resume this
  machine.

Departments get confused / break when going from a subdepartment of
Apps (click scope) to same subdepartment of Store via "Get more apps
  like this" orange Store button.

  Build r133 Krillin

I'm not entirely sure how to reproduce this bug but I try to sum up
the conditions and how the phone was set up before.

  1. Make sure both SIM cards are inserted
  2. SIM1 is locked
  3. reboot device
  4 skip SIM PIN entry

When skipping the SIM PIN entry screen, you can see a small glitch on
the top of the screen. It looks like a dialog/snap but it disappears
  very quickly.

Now, I had my device locked for a while and when I unlocked it via the hard
key button a snap decision appeared on top of the greeter saying "Enter SIM
PIN1". It is possible to swipe away the greeter screen but then this is it. You
are basically stuck.
I managed as well to pull down the notifications menu but the snap stayed on
top of that.
It looks like there is there passcode screen in the background and if you
want to return back to the greeter you have to lock/unlock the device with the
hard key button.

Maybe anyone can reproduce this bug or knows what causes it. Please
see attached screenshots for more visual info.

  shell field:

  # useradd test1
  # grep test1 /etc/passwd
  test1:x:2080:2080::/home/test1:

  # useradd -s /bin/bash test2

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1362640] Re: Remove qtwebkit from touch image

2014-12-04 Thread Olivier Tilloy
I installed all 624 apps from the store (as of today) on a Nexus 7
running vivid-proposed (image #42), and grepped through them to get a
picture of which still use QtWebKit. Here’s a summary:

 - 15 applications import (and supposedly use) QtWebKit directly:

com.nucleussystems.app.freshbookstimer
com.ubuntu.developer.brianrobles204.karma-machine
com.ubuntu.developer.carloalberto.randomimagesrel
com.ubuntu.developer.fabricio.mnmo-counters
com.ubuntu.developer.hansueli.burri.xkcd-viewer
com.ubuntu.developer.larochelle.brian.feed-the-aggregator
com.ubuntu.developer.mitya57.touchwriter
com.ubuntu.developer.mzanetti.getmewheels2
com.ubuntu.developer.penk.slatekit-shell
com.ubuntu.developer.qqworini.aesyweibo
com.ubuntu.developer.qtros.twimgo
com.ubuntu.developer.yuntan.aztter
com.ubuntu.developer.zaspire.cordova-mobilespec
fr.skimbo.skimbou
ir.oneapp.oneperday

 - 10 applications import (and supposedly use)
Ubuntu.Components.Extras.Browser 0.1, i.e. QtWebKit under the hood:

com.ubuntu.developer.andrewsomething.stackbrowser
com.ubuntu.developer.daker.bytesjack
com.ubuntu.developer.daker.x-type
com.ubuntu.developer.fcole90.feedspot
com.ubuntu.developer.karthik.upadya1.ifacebook
com.ubuntu.developer.karthik.upadya1.igplus
com.ubuntu.developer.karthik.upadya1.imail
com.ubuntu.developer.mdspencer.project-dashboard
com.ubuntu.developer.sangshuduo.doubanfmunofficial
com.wellsb.esv-bible

 - 4 applications import Ubuntu.Components.Extras.Browser 0.2 (i.e.
Oxide under the hood), they could use a rename of the import to
Ubuntu.Web 0.2:

com.ubuntu.developer.alaak.uberbag
com.ubuntu.developer.filip-dobrocky.gagger
com.ubuntu.developer.karthik.upadya1.wikipediatouch
com.ubuntu.developer.rschroll.beru

 - 16 applications import Ubuntu.Web 0.2 (i.e. Oxide under the hood), no
change needed:

com.canonical.payui
com.ubuntu.developer.bobo1993324.pdfjsviewer
com.ubuntu.developer.mhall119.ureadit
com.viclog.2048
com.ubuntu.developer.bobo1993324.udropcabin
com.ubuntu.developer.danielholm.pingpong
com.ubuntu.developer.dholbach.randomcats
com.ubuntu.developer.mdspencer.project-dashboard
com.ubuntu.developer.mlosli.panpipe
com.ubuntu.developer.mzanetti.ubuntu-fitbit-app
com.ubuntu.developer.qtros.yad
com.ubuntu.developer.rayalez.hackernews
com.ubuntu.developer.roman2861.zmusic
com.ubuntu.developer.turan.mahmudov.ufoursquare
com.viclog.flappybird
cx.gould.ted.ubuntu-app-startup

 - 12 applications import com.canonical.Oxide, no change needed:

com.ubuntu.reminders
com.popey.calculator
com.popey.sst
com.ubuntu.developer.danielholm.stumble
com.ubuntu.developer.dobey.delta-web
com.ubuntu.developer.dpniel.dekko
com.ubuntu.developer.mkamenjak77.4chanappextra
com.ubuntu.developer.mkamenjak77.bluedragonbrowser
com.ubuntu.developer.mkamenjak77.bugapp
com.ubuntu.developer.mkamenjak77.googleplusapp
com.ubuntu.developer.nathanosman.twobuntu-app
com.ubuntu.developer.rschroll.beru

 - Additionally, there are still 15 webapps using version 1.0 of the
policy, meaning they still use QtWebKit when run in the webapp
container. Updating them to version 1.1 of the policy will make them run
with Oxide:

com.and.maps
com.lastpass.lpubuntu
com.ubuntu.developer.adrian-arroyocalle.social-share
com.ubuntu.developer.cwayne18.baidu
com.ubuntu.developer.cwayne18.renren

All the apps that still use QtWebKit (either explicitly or through
Ubuntu.Components.Extras.Browser 0.1 or version 1.0 of the policy)
should be rather straightforward to migrate to Oxide with minimal
changes, without any work required in webbrowser-app.

There are two exceptions, which might not be that easy to port (if
possible at all, assessing that would require in-depth analysis of their
code):

com.ubuntu.developer.penk.slatekit-shell
com.ubuntu.developer.zaspire.cordova-mobilespec

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1362640] Re: Remove qtwebkit from touch image

2014-12-04 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Leaving the webbrowser-app task open as the webapp container is
currently built with QtWebKit support (for web applications that still
use version 1.0 of the policy). Once those applications are updated to
use version 1.1 of the policy, we can remove QtWebKit support, and a lot
of conditional code with it.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1396951] Re: webbrowser-app’s autopilot tests fail on otto: access to /dev/shm is denied

2014-12-04 Thread Francis Ginther
Discussed with Olivier over IRC that the otto issue is a limitation of
the lxc containment in use and further support of otto is being
deprecated in favor of a future solution that will run desktop tests
natively on the hardware. Olivier also supports just disabling these
tests (which was guidance we received from bfiller at the UE sprint in
Washington DC) as they have just become noise and the more useful tests
are the ones being run on touch devices.

I will need to investigate the /dev/shm issue for the vivid builds. My
theory is that this used to work but was disabled as it presents a
potential containment hole between the chroot and the host. But that's
just a theory. Given how we setup the pbuilder chroots, we may be able
to do something about this. My only concern is that LP may then fail to
build due to this problem. But currently Olivier can confirm that LP
still builds.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1396951] Re: webbrowser-app’s autopilot tests fail on otto: access to /dev/shm is denied

2014-12-04 Thread Olivier Tilloy
It’s likely that LP virtual builders for x86 are on trusty (or an older
ubuntu release anyway), this /dev/shm issue started appearing in vivid,
which would explain why we’re not seeing it in PPA builds.

Of course when LP builders are upgraded to vivid(+n), builds will start
failing. If we can devise an acceptable solution for the vivid chroots
used by CI, then we should be able to apply it to LP as well.

been consistently failing since the switch to vivid.
The error seen in the log is the following:

  /var/local/autopilot/autopilot.log:
[1127/102329:ERROR:shared_memory_posix.cc(231)] Creating shared memory in
/dev/shm/.org.chromium.Chromium.UAVbQt failed: Permission denied

/dev/shm: Permission denied
  /var/local/autopilot/autopilot.log:
[1127/102329:FATAL:shared_memory_posix.cc(236)] This is frequently caused by
incorrect permissions on /dev/shm. Try 'sudo chmod 1777 /dev/shm' to fix.

At a first glance it looks to me like the problem is in the otto setup
  itself.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1362640] Re: Remove qtwebkit from touch image

2014-12-04 Thread David Barth
For webapp-container, ie webapps, I have sent emails to the maintainers
of all the 20 webapps still using the 13.10 framework.

As of today, we have 8 of them already updated to 14.04, and 12 still
pending.

For the Cordova sample app, we should be able to upload a new version
shortly with the new cordova release which now supports Oxide directly.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1362640] Re: Remove qtwebkit from touch image

2014-12-04 Thread David Barth
Keep in mind also that you can't transparently migrate apps to Oxide,
because of the framework they are attached to. Apps still using the
13.10 framework will need an explicit upload, as the apparmor policy
will only let them use Oxide if they declare 14.04+ and add the
'webview' policy_group. I counted 120 apps still using 13.10, out of
which 20 are webapps.

HLE extensions are hazardous due to erratum HSD136.

Users that upgrade their intel-microcode could encounter illegal
instruction traps due to microcode updates that blacklist HLE
instructions. Glibc uses those instructions and thus we need to be
  defensive and patch them here.

The issue was originally seen here:

  [Test Case]
Update to latest intel-microcode with microcode-20140913.dat enabled. Try to
boot machine and use applications; check dmesg for trap invalid opcodes in
libpthread-2.19.so.

  [Regression Potential]
This has been fixed in vivid, so I'm requesting this patch be backported to

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1398975] Please test proposed package

2014-12-04 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Chris, or anyone else affected,

Accepted eglibc into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eglibc/2.19-0ubuntu6.5
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1398436] Re: Preview frozen after unlocking

2014-12-04 Thread Bill Filler
I did some testing. I am seeing two different behaviors:
1) "Normal" behavior: when the phone is locked/unlocked, the viewfinder shows
black for ~1 second and then switches back to live viewfinder mode. This is
expected, as the camera-app has to release the camera backend when it becomes
inactive (either from moving to the background or locking the phone) such that
other apps using the camera will have it available. Only one client connection
at a time is allowed and this how Android subsystem we are using is designed.

2) Abnormal behavior: hard to reproduce, but sometimes after lock/unlock
the viewfinder shows a frozen image of the previous preview for
~5seconds, then switches to black screen, then to a live viewfinder.
Cannot always reproduce this but assuming this is the bug that has been
reported.

@victor
Can you confirm that 2) is the case that is being reported?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1398436] Re: Preview frozen after unlocking

2014-12-04 Thread Florian Boucault
The only way I can see 2) happening is if the system is overloaded
(possibly due to a memory leak or due to a rogue process using CPU when
it shouldn't) then the camera app will not have enough time to release
the lock on the camera and clear the viewfinder's preview before the
process is suspended/interrupted.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1363959] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in nux::WindowCompositor::DndEventCycle()

This crash has no real reproduction case, so marked this verification-
done since:

1. It's been in Utopic for a couple of months now (and Vivid too) with no new
crashes reported or regressions.
2. I've been running this package since it's been in the ci-train PPA (and

An occasional unpredictable crash in the Unity shell occurs during a
  drag-and-drop operation.

  [Test Case]

Unfortunately it is not possible to reproduce this bug at will.
Apparently is is caused by an uninitialized pointer dereference that
only occurs in a timing-dependent manner.

Running a full autopilot test suite against the Unity desktop shell
  reveals no new regressions.

  [Regression Potential]

The code change effectively adds a test for a null pointer. It is
possible that this might introduce a regression in drag-and-drop
functionality that previously relied on undefined behaviour to work
  when it didn't crash.

  [Other Info]

Fix was released with Ubuntu 14.10 and no new regressions have been
  reported.

doing "good works" are a blessing to us all.  People who do harm and
malware, and the like, are a curse to humanity and are a shame to

very true, when they say: "What goes around, comes around!"  I can't
emphasize that enough.  If you don't believe that, look at Bill Cosby's

Bug description:
Lately, a member (Ümit) of the XDA Developers forum reported that his Nexus 4
always goes into a bootloop when he sets the system language to Turkish.
It doesn't matter whether he sets it in the system settings wizard which is
shown on first boot or in the system settings application.
If he sets it in the system settings wizard, he won't get to see the OS after
finishing the setup process, and if he changes the language in the system
settings application, the phone will hang after a reboot.
In any case, he will see the spinning "circle of friends" logo but the Unity8
dash will never appear.

Here's the link to his first forum post regarding it issue. The discussion
continues on the next few pages:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/rom-ubuntu-touch-14-10-utopic-unico-t2324683/post57093935#post57093935

He's running build #10 in the stable Ubuntu RTM channel.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1398436] Re: Preview frozen after unlocking

2014-12-04 Thread Jim Hodapp
I would think that's highly unlikely though since a process has 5
seconds from the point that it receives a signal that it's being
suspended until the point that it actually is suspended. 5 seconds is a
long time in computing.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1398427] Re: Can't use earphone to answer or disconnect a call

2014-12-04 Thread Ricardo Salveti
Once
https://code.launchpad.net/~rsalveti/qtmir/wired_hs_keys/+merge/243720
is merged you'll be able to retrieve such events at the Qt level (in our
case I think the shell is the one responsible for handling the input
stack and taking actions).

On QML you should look for both Qt.Key_MediaPlay and
Qt.Key_MediaTogglePlayPause (a similar logic would need to be in place
for multimedia playback, and also checking if there is an income call in
place, but not yet done).
