[Touch-packages] [Bug 1342400] Re: avahi-daemon constantly reporting "Invalid response packet from host"
I see this error when I use my iPad TiVo app - the error comes simultaneously from all TiVo devices on my lan. The traffic appears to be "private" traffic between related devices that do not follow the mdns spec - (Multicast DNS Responses MUST NOT contain any questions in the Question Section. Any questions in the Question Section of a received Multicast DNS Response MUST be silently ignored.) But to honor the spec Avahi should silently ignore the traffic. IMHO, the error should not be logged. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to avahi in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1342400 Title: avahi-daemon constantly reporting "Invalid response packet from host" Status in avahi package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: After installing Ubuntu 14.04 (Release: 14.04) and looking for other information in /var/log/syslog, I see that syslog is being flooded by "Invalid response packet from host" messages from avahi-daemon. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1410792] [NEW] Feature request: add --auto-remove to apt command or make it default behavior
Public bug reported: When one removes a package, one usually wants to auto-remove the dependencies which were automatically installed and are no longer needed by any package. This feature is default on aptitude, and in apt-get it is enable by --auto-remove. Because the apt command lacks this feature (neither by default nor via a flag) then I have to remove packages with aptitude. This is an awkward user experience because the scope looks like nothing is happening for significant periods of time. Expectation: Photo thumbnails would display as they arrive. (Perhaps there would be some kind of window around what is currently visible in the scope so that as soon as photos in the current scroll area, before it by some amount, and after it by some amount are in memory, they could display and the user could scroll somewhat, with the window moving appropriately.) [Touch-packages] [Bug 1410746] [NEW] Interrupted lxc-snapshot deletes snapshot *and* vm
Public bug reported: lxc is configured for limited user usage, i.e. the backing store is always "dir". Let's create a container, and snapshot it in its pristine state: % lxc-create -n restorebug -t download -- -d ubuntu -r utopic -a amd64 && lxc-snapshot -n restorebug [...] lxc_container: lxccontainer.c: lxcapi_snapshot: 3011 Snapshot of directory-backed container requested. lxc_container: lxccontainer.c: lxcapi_snapshot: 3012 Making a copy-clone. Now, try restoring the snapshot, and ctrl+c'ing lxc-snapshot while it's running: % lxc-snapshot -n restorebug -r snap0 [ctrl+c, bang!] Depending on when you press it, you might get some rsync output, but never anything from the lxc-snapshot command itself. This isn't unexpected, it's probably just copying the snapshot over to the vm, right?! That sounds cancellable. e.g. rsync error: received SIGINT, SIGTERM, or SIGHUP (code 20) at rsync.c(632) [sender=3.1.1] rsync error: received SIGINT, SIGTERM, or SIGHUP (code 20) at io.c(504) [generator=3.1.1] Now, let's run lxc-snapshot again, no need to ctrl+c it: % lxc-snapshot -n restorebug -r snap0 lxc_container: bdev.c: bdev_copy: 3253 failed to detect blockdev type for ...local/share/lxc/restorebug/snaps/snap0/rootfs lxc_container: lxccontainer.c: copy_storage: 2543 Error copying storage lxc_container: lxccontainer.c: lxcapi_destroy: 2141 Container restorebug has snapshots; not removing lxc_container: lxc_snapshot.c: do_restore_snapshots: 109 Error restoring snapshot snap0 % ls -a ~/.local/share/lxc/restorebug/rootfs ~/.local/share/lxc/restorebug/snaps/snap0 .local/share/lxc/restorebug/rootfs: . .. .local/share/lxc/restorebug/snaps/snap0: . .. config ts It's deleted both the snapshot, and the original container. Further attempts to run lxc-snapshot give similar errors: % lxc-snapshot -n restorebug -r snap0 lxc_container: lxccontainer.c: lxcapi_snapshot_restore: 3217 Failed to find original backing store type lxc_container: lxc_snapshot.c: do_restore_snapshots: 109 Error restoring snapshot snap0 Also reproduced on cleaner utopic server installs, this bug report is from my laptop. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1410618] Re: MacBook Air 6, 2 TRRS Headset Mic Not Working
Hi chrisolof, 1) hdajacksensetest shows the result of the HDMI graphics card, you probably want to add "-c 1" or similar to get the analog card instead. 2) Looking at your alsa-info, it seems like somebody has already tried to improve the driver for your card. I'd encourage you to try the latest driver, according to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa/DKMS If this does not work, then maybe contact the author of this patch to see if there's some room for collaboration: commit b5bf0a929d7ca35b9ccfc24647a397899d307659 Author: Ben Whitten Date: Fri Sep 27 10:13:51 2013 +0200 ALSA: hda - Add fixup for MacBook Air 6,1 and 6,2 with CS4208 codec -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1410618 Title: MacBook Air 6,2 TRRS Headset Mic Not Working Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Hello, I'm running Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 on a new MacBookAir6,2 with the Cirrus Logic CS4208 and would love to get the microphone part of the TRRS connector working. It always lists two devices: Internal Microphone and Microphone. Both of these seem to actually be the internal microphone in the mac - either works without the headset connected at all. So I'm not really sure how to proceed from here, but I'd be happy to run whatever diagnostic tests might prove useful and/or even contribute code toward a fix - but I just have no idea where to start. Is it as simple as just finding the right pin and telling the system to use it as a microphone? [Touch-packages] [Bug 1407914] Re: [phone] No way to force a retry of GSM data connection
I suggest that to save battery, GSM data connection and Wi-Fi network scanning follow the same backoff: when not connected, try again after 5 seconds, then 10 seconds, then 20, 40, 80, 120, 120, 120 ... or something like that. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1410676] [NEW] Doesn't recognize locale properly
Public bug reported: My current locale settings are: LANG="en_US.UTF-8" LC_NUMERIC="it_IT.UTF-8" LC_TIME="it_IT.UTF-8" LC_MONETARY="it_IT.UTF-8" LC_PAPER="it_IT.UTF-8" LC_NAME="it_IT.UTF-8" LC_ADDRESS="it_IT.UTF-8" LC_TELEPHONE="it_IT.UTF-8" LC_MEASUREMENT="it_IT.UTF-8" LC_IDENTIFICATION="it_IT.UTF-8" as defined in /etc/default/locale and LC_COLLATE="C" in my ~/.bashrc That is: I need all messages in Englishwhile using local (Italian) cenventions for numbers, time etc and use "C" collation.
