Bug description:
  This might not be the place for this bug, please reassign as
  appropriate.

  My wife's mako does not seem to be able to connect to GSM data over
  any connection faster than 2G, on full signal, even though krillin
  right next to it connects in HSDPA just fine.

  Cellular settings is set at 2G/3G so that should not be a problem.
  Toggling plane mode doesn't help.

  After switching cellular data off and back on, finally it connected in
  3G (but still not HSDPA).

  Please find attached network-test-session logs from when I toggled
  Flight mode, Cellular data and Connection type to get there.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1411714] Re: indicator-network not functioning after modems reboot

2015-01-19 Thread Antti Kaijanmäki
hmm.. could be multiple things..
Are there any crash files?

Could you provide the full /var/log/syslog to see if any of the services
(ofono, urfkill, NM) are being restarted?

i-network might not survive NM or urfkill restart.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1379375] Re: evince does not display ligatures

2015-01-19 Thread Iain Lane
The patch seemed to work for me on utopic, so I uploaded a stable
update. Please check once you get a call for testing via this bug.

** Description changed:

- While there's Bug #1325230 with the same title and the linked PDFs there are
working fine here (displaying fi correctly) there seems to be still some bug
regarding ligatures.
+ [ Description ]
+
+ Some ligatures (e.g. fi) are not displayed in certain fonts, because
+ there are two different naming schemes in use in the wild.
+
+ [ Fix ]
+
+ Poppler upstream fixed this by adding a lookup table to fall back to the
+ second scheme if necessary.
+
+ [ QA ]
+
+ 1. Install tex-gyre
+ 2. Download
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fontconfig/+bug/1317599/+attachment/4213588/+files/rfa1415_15sep_lect1.pdf
+ 3. Open the file in evince
+ 4. Look at Biometrics: file on page 3
+
+ If the fi ligature in file is not displayed, you have this bug.
+ file should be displayed normally after it's fixed.
+
+ [ Regression potential ]
+
+ Since this patch implements a fallback only when lookup false, there
+ shouldn't be any problems. Still, check all existing PDFs are still
+ displayed correctly.

  I have some PDFs substituting Helvetica (and others) with TeX Gyre Heros
  and showing no fi ligature. I attached a patch I derived from the
  patch in Bug #1325230 which is working fine. Now it uses Nimbus Sans L
  and the ligatures are fine.

  A Client whose window has not yet been mapped can request of the
  Window Manager an estimate of the frame extents it will be given upon
  mapping. To retrieve such an estimate, the Client MUST send a
  _NET_REQUEST_FRAME_EXTENTS message to the root window.

  when sending such message unity seems to never respond which hangs any
  application using this feature forever. This was working until last
  update in ubuntu 14.10, somewhere around 16-20 oct 2014.

  this has been noticed with latest GLFW:

  If you have a http proxy type its details now, otherwise just press
  enter.

  The installer does not start loading additional components. Instead it
complains:
  Downloading a file failed
  Retry
  Change mirror
  Cancel

  I have tried several national mirrors, and also 'archive.ubuntu.com'

  No mirror can provide that file, and the installation gets stuck here.

  Failing process: udpkg, net-retriever, or maybe missing files in the
  mirrors?

  There is nothing wrong with my internet connection:
  ping ubuntu.com works (from this Vivid alpha mini.iso)
  Ubuntu 14.04 LTS mini.iso works, can install systems

  The automatically attached files have nothing to do with the bug. They
  were created in another computer because I could not create the report
  in the simple system running in the beginning of the mini.iso
  installation process. So they were removed.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1404068]

2015-01-19 Thread Lars Melin
(In reply to marius from comment #1)
 From the logs, it seems like there is some issue detecting/configuring the
 network interface of the modem.

There is no network interface in the lsusb listing provided by the
reporter, there are 3 serial interfaces:

if#0 utps_modem
if#1 utps_pcui
if#2 utps_diag

A 12d1:1506 without any kind of net interface is unusual for a Huawei LTE
device and also remarkable since idProduct in the lsusb listing describes the
device as a Modem/Networkcard.
The 3rd digit in 4 digit Huawei product numbers denotes the speed where 7
indicates CAT4.
There is no way Huawei would produce a LTE CAT4 device with only ppp modem
dialup so I'd say that this dongle has been tampered with, the net interface
has been disabled via AT SETPORT cmds.

I filed this bug because I have tried all known workarounds, but failed
to resolve the problem:

- appended to /etc/pam.d/lightdm

   session required pam_systemd.so

- ran 'sudo pam-auth-update --force'

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1403982] Re: mini.iso installer cannot load additional components

2015-01-19 Thread sudodus
I downloaded the mini.iso today from

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/vivid/main/installer-i386/20101020ubuntu359/images/netboot/mini.iso

dialogue: 'The installer failed to download a file from the mirror'
screen 4: 'Can't check signature: unknown digest signature', so I think the bug
is still there.

-o-

The bug fix is not yet available at the link from the iso tracker

Where/when is the fixed mini.iso available?

  Dialogue:

Bug description:
  [ Description ]

  Some ligatures (e.g. fi) are not displayed in certain fonts, because
  there are two different naming schemes in use in the wild.

  [ Fix ]

  Poppler upstream fixed this by adding a lookup table to fall back to
  the second scheme if necessary.

  [ QA ]

  1. Install tex-gyre
  2. Download
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fontconfig/+bug/1317599/+attachment/4213588/+files/rfa1415_15sep_lect1.pdf
  3. Open the file in evince
  4. Look at Biometrics: file on page 3

  If the fi ligature in file is not displayed, you have this bug.
  file should be displayed normally after it's fixed.

  [ Regression potential ]

  Since this patch implements a fallback only when lookup false, there
  shouldn't be any problems. Still, check all existing PDFs are still
  displayed correctly.

  [ Original report ]

  While there's Bug #1325230 with the same title and the linked PDFs there are
working fine here (displaying fi correctly) there seems to be still some bug
regarding ligatures.
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fontconfig/+bug/1325230

  I have some PDFs substituting Helvetica (and others) with TeX Gyre
  Heros and showing no fi ligature. I attached a patch I derived from
  the patch in Bug #1325230 which is working fine. Now it uses Nimbus
  Sans L and the ligatures are fine.

  set

Status in Web Browser App:
  In Progress
Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu:
  New
Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu RTM:
  New

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   Webapp has the option to either specify a command line option to have
  a specific UA overriding the default or have a local webapp-
  properties.json file that defines the UA override such as:

  {
  name: MyWebapp,
  includes:[http://user-agent.me/*;],
  domain:user-agent.me,
  homepage:http://user-agent.me/;,
  user-agent-override: Mozilla/5.0 custom-user-agent-string (unlike
AnyOtheBrowser)
  }

  This currently does work.

  [Test Case]

  - from qtcreator, create a webapp,
  - update the Exec line from the desktop file to
Exec=webapp-container --enable-back-forward --store-session-cookies
--webappModelSearchPath=. %u
  - create a webapp-properties.json file in the project folder with the
following content:
  {
  name: MyWebapp,
  includes:[http://user-agent.me/*;],
  domain:user-agent.me,
  homepage:http://user-agent.me/;,
  user-agent-override: Mozilla/5.0 custom-user-agent-string (unlike
AnyOtheBrowser)
  }
  - make sure that the webapp automatically browses to http://user-agent.me/
  - make sure that the UA override is the same as the one listed above,

  [Regression Potential]

  Make sure that the window title is properly set to the webapp name.

  Note:

  this is not a dup of https://bugs.launchpad.net/webbrowser-app/+bug/1379497
but a regression

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1412373] Re: Trust prompts don't receive focus after switching apps

2015-01-19 Thread Michael Sheldon
** Summary changed:

- OSK not raised inside an OA trust prompt triggered by a scope
+ Trust prompts don't receive focus after switching apps

** Summary changed:

- Trust prompts don't receive focus after switching apps
+ Trusted sessions don't receive focus after switching apps

** Description changed:

  While trying to create an account from the Youtube scope, I was not able
  to enter my Google account confirmation code, as the keyboard would not
  display.

  To reproduce:
  - navigate to the Youtbe scope, or activate it from the scope catalog
  - scroll down to find the Log-in to Youtube button
  - let the trust prompt slide up, where you will be able to login to you
Google account
- - wait for the Google web authentication sequence to ask for a confirmation
code
- - touch the confirmation code input field
+ - Switch to another app and then switch back
+ - Tap a text field in the login prompt

  What should happen: the OSK appears
  What happens instead: the OSK does not pop up

- Note: your Google account needs to be protected by a 2FA option, which
- is quite frequent now though.
+ This happens because focus is being given to unity8-dash, instead of the
+ trusted session. This can also be reproduced using the Gmail app by
+ following similar steps (without having a Google account already setup).

  Tested on vivid mako/r67.

** Also affects: unity8 (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** No longer affects: unity8 (Ubuntu)

** Project changed: ubuntu-keyboard = unity8

** Changed in: unity8

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1410260] Re: Image provider blocking the UI thread

2015-01-19 Thread Jussi Pakkanen
Qt's documentation says this:

To force asynchronous image loading, even for image sources that do not
have the asynchronous property set to true, you may pass the
QQuickImageProvider::ForceAsynchronousImageLoading flag to the image
provider constructor. This ensures that all image requests for the
provider are handled in a separate thread.

This is exactly what thumbnailer does (thumbnailgenerator.cpp:29). This
should make it fully asynchronous. All threading related to this is done
by Qt internals and they are not exposed to QQuickImageProviders. This
would indicate that the blocking happens somewhere inside Qt and thus is
not caused by thumbnailer.

  * [on desktop] install unity8 and run unity8-dash -mousetouch

  * select the My Music scope
  * scroll quickly

  Expected:
  * scope scrolls smoothly, even if there's no images

  Current:
  * scope scrolling blocked for seconds at a time

  This seems to be most visible the first time, when images are not
  cached on disk yet.

  AFAIK the impact of this is elevated by the fact that Qt serializes
  requests to image providers, so when it's blocked to download one
  image, it will not continue to the next image etc.

Title:
  [webapp-container] UA Override from webapp-properies.json file is not
  set

Status in Web Browser App:
  In Progress
Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu RTM:
  New

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   Webapp has the option to either specify a command line option to have
  a specific UA overriding the default or have a local webapp-
  properties.json file that defines the UA override such as:

  {
  name: MyWebapp,
  includes:[http://user-agent.me/*;],
  domain:user-agent.me,
  homepage:http://user-agent.me/;,
  user-agent-override: Mozilla/5.0 custom-user-agent-string (unlike
AnyOtheBrowser)
  }

  This currently does work.

  [Test Case]

  - from qtcreator, create a webapp,
  - update the Exec line from the desktop file to
Exec=webapp-container --enable-back-forward --store-session-cookies
--webappModelSearchPath=. %u
  - create a webapp-properties.json file in the project folder with the
following content:
  {
  name: MyWebapp,
  includes:[http://user-agent.me/*;],
  domain:user-agent.me,
  homepage:http://user-agent.me/;,
  user-agent-override: Mozilla/5.0 custom-user-agent-string (unlike
AnyOtheBrowser)
  }
  - make sure that the webapp automatically browses to http://user-agent.me/
  - make sure that the UA override is the same as the one listed above,

  [Regression Potential]

  Make sure that the window title is properly set to the webapp name.

  Note:

  this is not a dup of https://bugs.launchpad.net/webbrowser-app/+bug/1379497
but a regression

  4) Tap Search.

  Instead of being taken to the scope, you get taken to a nested
  installation screen. If installing it for 2nd time from there, Search
  button doesn't do anything after 2nd install.

  Fix:

  Search button should take you directly to the scope you just
  installed.

  Also Search doesn't sound like a clear word for opening the scope,
  maybe consider Open instead?

Hi,

The store now accepts the new style. The old style is still accepted, but
developers signing up
to the site today will find it hard to use it because they can't set their
old-style namespace.

You can go ahead and make any changes that expect the new style to work
live.

Thanks,

James

Bug description:
  I've not done a proper review on this yet, but there are a few issues
  I've noticed just from using the browser:

  - The certificate error UI is displayed for all errors, but it should
  only be displayed for main frame document errors
  (CertificateError.isMainFrame  !CertificateError.isSubresource). You
  can't override other errors anyway, and for subframes and subresources
  it is fine to just block the content (this is how Chrome and Firefox
  behave).

  - When accepting an error, the certificate fingerprint seems to be
  whitelisted by the browser. This is not safe - what happens if the
  user navigates to a genuinely malicious site that happens to use the
  same certificate? If you want to whitelist them, you must also record
  the domain that the error originated from and the error code, and only
  automatically allow the error if the domain + error code +
  fingerprints match

  - When accepting an error, there is no visual cue in the header bar
  that you're on a site with security errors.

  - If you press the stop icon in the addressbar whilst the certificate
  error UI is displayed, the pending navigation is cancelled (returning
  to the previous committed navigation), but the certificate error UI is
  not removed. There is a CertificateError.cancelled signal for this
  purpose - I'm not sure if you're using it or not

  - There doesn't seem to be any indicator when you go to a site that
  has an EV certificate

  --- UX Comment ---
  Additional wireframe for top bar displaying warning when certificate identity
is not verified

  For EV certificate, just display EV information in the pop-over

updating to show the correct list of apps. It should not show this message when
there are apps to be displayed.
  This doesn't always occur, but have certainly seen it happen depending on

  Steps to reproduce:
  - Open gmail
  - create a new message

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1377727] Re: Desktop permissions (e.g shutdown, network, users) broken for all accounts after upgrade to 14.10

2015-01-19 Thread Jimmie Butler
I believe I'm having the same bug since I upgraded to 14.10.

The only difference in output I've gotten was

loginctl list-sessions

   SESSIONUID USER SEAT
c1112 lightdm  seat0
 1   1000 jimmie   seat0
c2   1000 jimmie   seat0

I also gave a try at removing upstart, and it does indeed make the
errors go away. (it seems to autoinstall systemd-sysv:amd64 to replace
it).

Should I open another bug report, or keep on this one?

  Sudo works as expected so I can help to further debug this problem and
  provide relevant information. Unfortunately I have very limited
  experience with Logind and PAM so I hope I have reported this to the
  right package.

  If someone could point me in the right direction (wiki, man page,
  tutorial) I would be more than happy to see if I can see what went
  wrong and if I can debug this myself.

  Only 10MB makes it harder to debug as sometimes we need a bit more

  looking for suspend failures, since we can't really go back much in
  time when investigating syslog.

  20MB would already be enough for now.

  (initially reported as part of bug #1377194)

  Steps to reproduce:

   1) Browse to e.g. https://testssl-expire.disig.sk/
   2) Accept the certificate error (by clicking on the Proceed anyway button)
   3) The page with an invalid certificate loads

  Expected result: there is some sort of visual cue in the chrome to signify
that the connection is potentially insecure.
  Current result: there is no visual cue in the chrome.

  For reference, I tested firefox and chromium on desktop: firefox just
  pretends nothing happened if an exception was added (i.e. it says the
  connection is secure and displays a padlock icon), whereas chromium
  displays a padlock with a cross over it, and the https part of the
  address is striked through. Two rather different approaches.

  There is currently no visual cue to differentiate websites with normal
  certificates from websites with an Extended Verification certificate.

  This may or may not be a problem.

  For reference, I’ve tested chrome on android, and I’m not seeing any
  difference in the way EV certificates are displayed to the user (with
  respect to normal certificates). On desktop and tablets the name of
  the organization is displayed on the left of the URL, but obviously on
  phones there’s not enough real-estate in the address bar.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 280877] Re: visudo does not use sensible-editor

2015-01-19 Thread Jani Uusitalo
The community wiki currently claims that the default editor for visudo
has been sensible-editor since 8.10 [1]. But for me in both 12.04 and
14.04, `sudo visudo` still launches /etc/alternatives/editor, so select-
editor doesn't actually change visudo's editor; for that I have to run
`sudo update-alternatives --config editor`. So I suspect that either the
wiki has incorrect advice, or this bug has been fixed, and has since
reappeared.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 882147] Re: overlayfs does not implement inotify interfaces correctly

2015-01-19 Thread Mike Mestnik
Notice the comment #30 above:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/882147/comments/30

Also note that there is some confusion about known behavior of released
kernels. I suggest that if a kernel is released and it's select() call
does not behave appropriately that every application that uses select()
should be patched to detect if it's running under such a kernel, though
there are other opinions.

For example the kernel will detect known problems with FPUs/CPUs and
handle these appropriately, such should be the way with applications and
released kernel APIs.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 445333] Re: remember password on printing to windows printers does not work

2015-01-19 Thread Dariusz Gadomski
The upstream gtk is considering backporting this change to gtk2: [1]

What I find most important in the description is:
With regards to the importance of having this only fixed in GTK 3. To be
honest, as long as firefox still uses GTK 2 in most distributions this fix is
more important for our users to have in GTK 2 then it is in GTK 3 :-/

This remains true for Ubuntu as well.

  Now that unity-scopes-api has switched to using net-cpp in place of
  QNetwork (Bug #1409995), we are back to waiting on all results to be
  returned from the SSS before displaying them in a smart scope (This is
  a limitation on net-cpp at the moment).

  net-cpp is in the process of being updated to allow us to process
  chunked data responses from a server (lp:~marcustomlinson/net-
  cpp/on_data_handler) but unfortunately this change breaks the net-cpp
  ABI, so we are unable to land such a change at this time.

  This should be dealt with as soon as we are able to handle an ABI
  breaking update.

example:

bind,user=username,group=username   0   0
  2. reboot and then open nautilus
  3. nautilus will show the new mount point in the places sidebar but it will
give you an error if you click on the mount point:
  Unable to mount MyDocuments
  mount: according to mtab, /media/data is already mounted on
/home/username/MyDocuments
  mount failed

  What should happen:
  1. nautilus should not show these binded folders since they are well
accessible through the filesystem
  2. if the mounted folder (e.g. /mount/data) is a block device then it will
appear in the places sidebar anyway and thus it is not necessary to show the
mount point again
  3. if the mounted folder is a normal folder from an existing file system then
its accessible both from the original location and the newly binded location,
thus the is no need to show it in places again
  4. this is quite annoying

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1267059] Re: Unattended-Upgrade::Remove-Unused-Dependencies does not work

2015-01-19 Thread Chris Case
This is a pretty big issue, as installing Ubuntu server with the
defaults will always create a boot partition, and enabling automatic
updates (which is desirable from a security standpoint) means that every
few weeks kernel updates start failing because the old kernels haven't
been removed.

I would very much like to see what seems like a simple problem fixed.
This effects every single ubuntu VM at my work (of which we have about
80), and is incredibly annoying to have to deal with.

Title:
  Doesn't recognize locale properly

Status in apt package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  My current locale settings are:
  LANG=en_US.UTF-8
  LC_NUMERIC=it_IT.UTF-8
  LC_TIME=it_IT.UTF-8
  LC_MONETARY=it_IT.UTF-8
  LC_PAPER=it_IT.UTF-8
  LC_NAME=it_IT.UTF-8
  LC_ADDRESS=it_IT.UTF-8
  LC_TELEPHONE=it_IT.UTF-8
  LC_MEASUREMENT=it_IT.UTF-8
  LC_IDENTIFICATION=it_IT.UTF-8

  as defined in /etc/default/locale and

  LC_COLLATE=C

  in my ~/.bashrc

  That is: I need all messages in Englishwhile using local (Italian)
cenventions for numbers, time etc and use C collation.
  Everytime I run apt-get I get this error message:

  perl: warning: Setting locale failed.
  perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings:
  LANGUAGE = en,
  LC_ALL = (unset),
  LC_TIME = en_IT.UTF-8,
  LC_MONETARY = en_IT.UTF-8,
  LC_COLLATE = C,
  LC_ADDRESS = en_IT.UTF-8,
  LC_TELEPHONE = en_IT.UTF-8,
  LC_NAME = en_IT.UTF-8,
  LC_MEASUREMENT = en_IT.UTF-8,
  LC_IDENTIFICATION = en_IT.UTF-8,
  LC_NUMERIC = en_IT.UTF-8,
  LC_PAPER = en_IT.UTF-8,
  LANG = en_IT.UTF-8
  are supported and installed on your system.
  perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale (C).
  locale: Cannot set LC_CTYPE to default locale: No such file or directory
  locale: Cannot set LC_MESSAGES to default locale: No such file or directory
  locale: Cannot set LC_ALL to default locale: No such file or directory

  As you can see, the locale is recognized improperly as en_IT instead of
it_IT.
  I would expect no such mangling.

I'm now on fully updated Vivid which I upgraded to directly from 14.04
LTS (sudo sed -i 's/trusty/vivid/g' /etc/apt/sources.list) and this is
still a problem.

I have a regular monitor not HiDPI.

  There is a fix to unity8 coming up that will soon be hiding the OA
  splash screen. Hiding the splash screen is great for 50% of the
  situations that it pops up, but there is a point where its actually
  nice to see that something is happening.

  With scopes, after the OnlineAccountsClient::Setup class returns from
  exec(), the shell then calls signon_auth_session_process_async() to
  request an access token. Thats when seeing the splash screen is useful
  as the user can see that something is still happening. With that slash
  screen hidden, the focus will be returned to the scope without any
  indication that the sign on process is still busy.

  Could we have the OnlineAccountsClient::Setup::exec() method execute
  the auth session itself before returning / sending the “finished”
  signal? That way you'll stay on the setup screen until the oauth token
  has been granted, hence returning to the scope when all is ready to
  go.

  The call to OA from the shell to refresh the token takes some time to

  If an app uses ~/.config/foo (say, uses Qt.labs.settings), and the
  user uninstalls the app, ~/.config/foo is not removed. It should be
  deleted when the app is uninstalled.

  Using latest utopic on the phone.

  -
  Desired resolution:

  - When a user deletes an app, 100% of files associated with the app
  should be deleted.

  - A warning notification should be displayed when a user goes to
  delete an app informing them that this action will also delete any
  data they have stored inside the app. This notification should give
  the options of cancelling or proceeding with the action.

  - Users should not be allowed to delete the key apps that ship with
  the phone. These key apps are defined as: Dialler, Address book,
  Messaging, Browser, Camera, Music player

  The above will give the user a simple easy to understand mental model
  while simultaneously protecting the user from deleting important
  content within the default apps.

Status in Web Browser App:

Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu RTM:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   Webapp has the option to either specify a command line option to have
  a specific UA overriding the default or have a local webapp-
  properties.json file that defines the UA override such as:

  {
  name: MyWebapp,
  includes:[http://user-agent.me/*;],
  domain:user-agent.me,
  homepage:http://user-agent.me/;,
  user-agent-override: Mozilla/5.0 custom-user-agent-string (unlike
AnyOtheBrowser)
  }

  This currently does work.

  [Test Case]

  - from qtcreator, create a webapp,
  - update the Exec line from the desktop file to
Exec=webapp-container --enable-back-forward --store-session-cookies
--webappModelSearchPath=. %u
  - create a webapp-properties.json file in the project folder with the
following content:
  {
  name: MyWebapp,
  includes:[http://user-agent.me/*;],
  domain:user-agent.me,
  homepage:http://user-agent.me/;,
  user-agent-override: Mozilla/5.0 custom-user-agent-string (unlike
AnyOtheBrowser)
  }
  - make sure that the webapp automatically browses to http://user-agent.me/
  - make sure that the UA override is the same as the one listed above,

  [Regression Potential]

  Make sure that the window title is properly set to the webapp name.

  Note:

  this is not a dup of https://bugs.launchpad.net/webbrowser-app/+bug/1379497
but a regression
