[Touch-packages] [Bug 1512608] Re: No thumbnails generated for OGG audio
The Bad Request response issue is definitely fixed by the linked branch. I'm seeing much more robust behavior now. We still have an issue with the error back-off being too aggressive when an individual request to the server times out. I'll work on that and try to get this into OTA-9. We have a separate bug for that problem: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thumbnailer/+bug/1528105 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to thumbnailer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1512608 Title: No thumbnails generated for OGG audio Status in music-app package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in thumbnailer package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Bug description: Setup: Core Music app BQ HD5 OTA-7 15.04 r6 Large collection of audio files in .ogg and .mp3 format on SD card Audio files tagged with Artist, Album titile, Track title etc. Expected result: Album covers and Artist images are displayed in Music app Actual result: Only mp3 audio files generate thumbnails. No Album of Artist thumbnails are generated for any OGG files To test the situation I have a) Cleared the thumbnailer failure cache b) removed the whole thumbnail cache directory c) Removed and reinsterted the SD card d) Uninstallled and reinstalled the core Music app Before the OTA-7 upgrade the thumbnails were shown for .ogg and .mp3 files To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/music-app/+bug/1512608/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Touch-packages] [Bug 1529452] Re: Gallery app asks for same image multiple times at different sizes
This is really serious. I'm seeing around a dozen requests for each image (each request at a different size) when scrolling in the event view. I'm also seeing crashes. One way to reproduce seems to be to scroll all the way to the end of the event view and then scroll in the other direction. As soon as I try to go backwards from the end, I get a crash. ** Changed in: gallery-app (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to gallery-app in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1529452 Title: Gallery app asks for same image multiple times at different sizes Status in gallery-app package in Ubuntu: New Status in thumbnailer package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: I'm seeing this with image 342 from rc-proposed. When starting the gallery app with around 300 photos in my Pictures folder, I just noticed the request sequence shown below. Note that all requests are for the same image and are issued pretty much all at once. (There is about half a second elapsed time between the first and the last request.) The requests keep changing the size only, starting at 342 and working their way down to 216. This is supremely inefficient because each of the requests results in a separate scaling operation. In addition, each of these requests ends up in the cache on disk, so this behavior really hammers the battery and reduces cache efficiency. thumbnailer-service: [09:25:36.825] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (342,342): 0.044376 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:36.899] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (341,341): 0.020540 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:36.942] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (340,340): 0.034030 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.068] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (338,338): 0.143506 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.095] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (335,335): 0.154219 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.126] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (332,332): 0.162185 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.145] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (326,326): 0.172134 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.167] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (318,318): 0.177231 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.188] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (307,307): 0.181870 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.205] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (292,292): 0.182084 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.223] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (273,292): 0.183793 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.238] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (273,273): 0.198290 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.369] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (250,273): 0.313627 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.391] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (250,250): 0.334533 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.402] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (218,218): 0.317747 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.405] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (216,216): 0.310605 sec (HIT)" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gallery-app/+bug/1529452/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Touch-packages] [Bug 1440608] Re: /etc/kernel/postinst.d/apt-auto-removal wants to remove all kernels except the latest one
To make sure current kernel is not autoremoved, /etc/kernel/postinst.d /apt-auto-removal should be run during startup, that is before running "apt-get autoremove" during uptime. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1440608 Title: /etc/kernel/postinst.d/apt-auto-removal wants to remove all kernels except the latest one Status in apt package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: After installing a 3rd kernel currently 3.19.0-12-generic, the /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/01autoremove-kernels file looks normal listing the 3.19.0-11-generic and 3.19.0-12-generic with 3.19.0-10-generic listed to be autoremoved. But once autoremove is completed the machine requests to be rebooted and at that time the /etc/apt/apt.conf.d /01autoremove-kernels file lists the 3.19.0-12-generic and 3.19.0-10-generic kernels. As far as I can see, it should ask only for the image I want to see? For each image, there are two requests, one for 768, and one for 2304. There should be only one request. Asking for the image at 2304 is meaningless, in the sense that the thumbnailer won't deliver anything larger than 1920. It doesn't do any harm as such, the actual image that is returned will be scaled to 1920. But the image that is shown is too large and displaces the "Open button" near the bottom, so I can see the button only once is scroll. The preview image should be displayed at a size that doesn't push the rest of the card off the screen. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to thumbnailer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1515091 Title: Thumbnail of photo/video displays incorrect size in preview page Status in thumbnailer package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Test Env. ~$ system-image-cli -i current build number: 171 device name: krillin channel: ubuntu-touch/rc-proposed/bq-aquaris.en last update: 2015-11-12 08:12:47 version version: 171 version ubuntu: 20151110.1 version device: 20150821-736d127 version custom: 2015111 Steps: 1. take photos by camera 2. go to photo scope 3. tap on a photo to preview page 4. check the page Actual: Thumbnail of photo displays original size in preview page Expected: Thumbnail of photo should have a fixed size in preview page To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thumbnailer/+bug/1515091/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1529452] [NEW] Gallery app asks for same image multiple times at different sizes
Public bug reported: I'm seeing this with image 342 from rc-proposed. In addition, each of these requests ends up in the cache on disk, so this behavior really hammers the battery and reduces cache efficiency. thumbnailer-service: [09:25:36.825] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (342,342): 0.044376 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:36.899] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (341,341): 0.020540 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:36.942] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (340,340): 0.034030 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.068] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (338,338): 0.143506 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.095] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (335,335): 0.154219 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.126] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (332,332): 0.162185 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.145] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (326,326): 0.172134 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.167] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (318,318): 0.177231 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.188] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (307,307): 0.181870 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.205] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (292,292): 0.182084 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.223] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (273,292): 0.183793 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.238] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (273,273): 0.198290 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.369] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (250,273): 0.313627 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.391] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (250,250): 0.334533 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.402] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (218,218): 0.317747 sec (MISS)" thumbnailer-service: [09:25:37.405] "thumbnail: /home/phablet/Pictures/com.ubuntu.camera/image20151227_091023042.jpg (216,216): 0.310605 sec (HIT)" ** Affects: gallery-app (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: thumbnailer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Triaged ** Also affects: gallery-app (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: thumbnailer (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to thumbnailer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1529452 Title: Gallery app asks for same image multiple times at different sizes Status in gallery-app package in Ubuntu: New Status in thumbnailer package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: I'm seeing this with image 342 from rc-proposed. It has a resolution of 3200x1800. The monitor I'm trying to connect has a resolution of 2560x1440 (or 1920x1080). When using the notebook alone I need to use a scaling factor of 1,75 due to the high resolution. The problem occurs when changing the scaling factor for the external monitor, which is too high with 1,75. As the GUI settings describe, it is possible to set different scaling factors for different monitors. Unfortunately the settings always take effect on all monitors. For example: Scaling factor: 1 Monitor 3200x1800: everything too small Monitor: 2560x1440: everything good Scaling factor 1,75: vice versa In the question on askubuntu (see above) you can see how the gsettings are changed when altering the scaling factor. When that happens, we treat the failure as a temporary and surprising error and disable remote server access for two hours. We need something more sophisticated so we can react to timeout errors with a different strategy than to other temporary surprising errors. The problem is that a dead server is indistinguishable from a slow one, so we probably need some exponential back-off strategy, or count the number of consecutive timeout failures and trigger the full two- hour back-off only if some threshold is exceeded.
