[Touch-packages] [Bug 1454450] Re: Bluetooth mouse laggy and erratic

2015-12-29 Thread Alejandro R. Mosteo
I observe this in a 15.10 installation.

Linux 4.2.0-18-generic #22-Ubuntu SMP Fri Nov 6 23:32:28 UTC 2015 i686
i686 i686 GNU/Linux

I'm using a logitech bluetooth kb+mouse. Everything works normally, then
I watch a movie in Kodi and when I exit to desktop again, mouse is very
laggy. So some kind of usb suspend might be involved.

Within Kodi, after a while, the keyboard won't even reconnect so I have
to exit with a remote. Once in the desktop the slugginesh manifests
itself.

Reloading the module as in comment #10 works for me, thanks for the
workaround.

Title:
DHCP server incorrectly handling VLAN tagged packets

Status in isc-dhcp package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in Debian:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
Upon receipt of a VLAN tagged packet, the DHCP server is processing it
as though it was received without a VLAN tag.

  Steps to reproduce:
  - Send a DHCPDISCOVER packet to the broadcast address with a VLAN tag

  Expected results:
  - None. The DHCP server should ignore this packet.

  Actual results:
  - The DHCP server interprets the packet as though it were received untagged
and transmits a response accordingly.

  Comments:
  - I believe this to be an instance of Debian bug #643564

4)
colors are distorted (not a printer problem, because copying and scanning works
accurately)

Original USB open-source printer driver (cnijfilter-mg5200series-3.40-1)
works, after installing libtiff4_3.9.6-9ubuntu1.2_i386:

http://www.canon.de/support/consumer_products/products/fax__multifunctionals/inkjet/pixma_mg_series/pixma_mg5250.aspx?type=drivers==Linux%20%2832-bit%29)

The current driver in CUPS 1.7.2 distorts the colors (turning black into
red, blue into red etc.)

ListItemLayout: title text overlaps subtitle if maximumLineCount > 1

Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  See attached screenshot.

  What happens:
When the "title.maximumLineCount" property is set to a value greater than 1,
the second line of the title overlaps the subtitle, resulting in an unreadable
text.

  What I'd expect to happen:
The subtitle is placed below the last line of the title, according to the
spacing and all the style/layout properties of ListItemLayout.

Attached to this report there's a QML document which reproduces the
  issue.

  Hi!

  Steps:
  1. Enable WIFI = ON on phone.
  2. Run one of these apps: GPS Navigation, HERE maps, Sensor Status.
  3. Drive.
  4. When you'll be into a WIFI area as a town or city, I'm thinking the WIFI
will try to search WIFIs and then the GPS will stop, the GPS apps will not
receive more new positions from the GPS.

Extra info1: If you had GPS Navigation & Sensor running, both of them
will not receive new GPS positions from the device. If you restart for
example GPS Navigation, GPS Navigation will receive new positions, but
Sensor Status not, until you restart it too.

Extra info2: When the GPS stops the icon in the status disappears, but
it you kill and relaunch the app, the icon will appear again.

  Thanks in advance!

It is working in my MX4 & BQ E4.5.
I think Nexus 4 is not in the same branch of code (?).

Extra info2: When the GPS stops the icon in the status disappears, but
it you kill and relaunch the app, the icon will appear again.

  Thanks in advance!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1529881] Re: CUPS 1.7.2 distorts colors on Canon PIXMA MG5250

2015-12-29 Thread Pascal De Vuyst
The official drivers for this printer are part proprietary and closed
source, therefore we cannot/are not allowed to include them into Ubuntu.

The gutenprint opensource driver included in Ubuntu is EXPERIMENTAL
because reverse engineering needs to be done, there is already an
upstream report about this http://sourceforge.net/p/gimp-print/bugs/688/

Actually your printer manufacturer needs to provide a openprinting distribution
independent driver package as described here:
http://www.linux-foundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/WritingAndPackagingPrinterDrivers
This would allow automatic download and installation of the manufacturers
printer driver by system-config-printer as already implemented by this
specification:
https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/printerdriverautodownload since
Ubuntu Intrepid.
As mentioned the system-config-printer part is implemented.
You should ask your manufacturer in this case Canon to provide a distibution
independent package that allows their printer driver to be installed
automatically on Linux in general (not only Ubuntu).

Title:
DHCPv6 responses with multiple addresses applied incorrectly to
  interface

Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
A DHCPv6 server may respond with multiple addresses, and is not an
unusual case as you may wish to provide both a ULA and a global prefix
to a common suffix. Recent versions of OpenWRT behave in this manner
  for DHCPv6.

Network Manager is handling this *almost* correctly. Both addresses
get applied, just not simultaneously as would be expected.

The dhclient process is seeing both addresses, and both get processed
by the handler, but is handled as though there were two seperate
requests, applies the first address, promptly removes it, and replaces
it with the second address, resulting in only the latter address
  persisting after interface setup.

After adding the following to the upstart config for network manager,
you can easily follow the mishandling of the response:

  --log-level=debug --log-domains=DEVICE,IP6,DHCP6

The following are key lines from the debug logging:

  Jun 20 23:21:16 pinky-linux NetworkManager[6244]: [1434856876.790352]
[nm-system.c:280] sync_addresses(): (wlan0): adding address
'2607:::ad10::61/128'
  ...

  Jun 20 23:21:17 pinky-linux NetworkManager[6244]: [1434856877.837130]
[nm-system.c:247] sync_addresses(): (wlan0): removing address
'2607:::ad10::61/128'
  Jun 20 23:21:17 pinky-linux NetworkManager[6244]: [1434856877.837526]
[nm-system.c:280] sync_addresses(): (wlan0): adding address
'fd5b:::10::61/128'

In this case the global prefixed address was applied, then immediately
replaced by the ULA prefixed one.

So it's correctly parsing both addresses of the response as supplied
by dhclient, but the end result is not what is expected for the given
  configuration sent from the server.

The correct behaviour is to add/replace all addresses in the response
  as a set.

This negates much of the usefulness of supporting DHCPv6, and is an
impediment to integration with IPv6 networks requiring it's use.

  Hi!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1529909] [NEW] ListItemLayout: title text overlaps subtitle if maximumLineCount > 1

2015-12-29 Thread Stefano Verzegnassi
Public bug reported:

See attached screenshot.

What happens:
When the "title.maximumLineCount" property is set to a value greater than 1,
the second line of the title overlaps the subtitle, resulting in an unreadable
text.

What I'd expect to happen:
The subtitle is placed below the last line of the title, according to the
spacing and all the style/layout properties of ListItemLayout.

Attached to this report there's a QML document which reproduces the
issue.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1530002] Re: Music app takes about 60 seconds to start up

2015-12-29 Thread Michi Henning
There is nothing in any queue (at least not that I know of). The songs
are in the Music folder, and the mediascanner has finished indexing
them. Then I start the music app, that's it.

With the files from that attachment in the Music folder, and the

takes around 60 seconds for the music app to start. (It just sits
there with a spinner during that time.) qmlscene consumes 100% CPU

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1530014] [NEW] When charging phone/tablet, power management says UPS battery is low and causes immediate shutdown

2015-12-29 Thread Tony Walker
Public bug reported:

Short story:
I have a CyberPower 825AVR (USB attached) when attaching my iPhone or iPad (via
USB) to charge, the Unity (gnome power manager?) displays a message saying the
UPS battery is critically low and the system will shut down immediately. It
does shut down immediately. It seems that upowerd or the gnome power manager
"confuses" the device's (e.g., my iPhone's) battery with my UPS's battery.
Interestingly, if I unplug the UPS cable, plug-in my iPhone, and then plug-in
my UPS, the system does not shut down. However, the gnome power manager icon
disappears and reappears at an interval of a second or two.

Hopefully Useful Details:
- Fresh install of Ubuntu 15.10 on my mid-2011 (i5-2400S, 20GB RAM) 21.5" iMac.
- Single boot (OS/X is not installed).
- UPS battery is in good health and fully charged.
- Power drain on UPS is minimal: iMac, additional LCD display, and desktop
speakers.

upower:
  Installed: 0.99.3-1build2

I wrote a mark in syslog before plugging in my iPhone and attached the
(hopefully) relevant part of the log. I think line 41 is the key.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1529991] [NEW] qmlscene crashes if music app is started while mediascanner is extracting

2015-12-29 Thread Michi Henning
Public bug reported:

I'm attaching an archive with about 7000 "songs" (each of which is a
second of silence).

To reproduce the problem, make sure that the music app isn't running and
unpack the archive somewhere under the Music directory. This causes
mediascanner to start indexing the files. (It'll take about 10 minutes
on Mako.)

While mediascanner is still indexing, start the music app. A few seconds
later, qmlscene crashes. (I'm seeing this with image 326 from rc-
proposed.)

I'm also attaching the crash file.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1530002] Re: Music app takes about 60 seconds to start up

2015-12-29 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Just to assist in debugging, do you have all of you tracks (you state
you have 7000 in the other bug) in the queue? As it will try to load
those currently from a database into the queue at startup, and this
would likely take a while.

If this is the case, this will hopefully be improved after we move to
bg-playlists, and then once the load()/save() methods work (bug 1510225)
as then the tracks will be directly read into the queue via c++ in the
media-hub/qtubuntu-media side.

Title:
fsck runs on every boot (clean install, single ext4 filesystem)

Status in upstart package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
fsck runs early on *every* boot (and always says "/dev/sda1: clean ...")
The system was always shut down using the regular Unity mechanism (Gear->Shut
Down...)

Strangely, the "Last checked" time shown by "sudo dumpe2fs /dev/sda1"
shows the date of installation and never changes.

This system is a brand new, clean install from the 15.10 beta2 iso, with
subsequent updates.
I took all the installer defaults, which created a single ext4 file system.

  Please see attached:
bootscreen.png - screen shot of fsck output at start of bootup (from VM
window)
dumpe2fs_out.txt - output from "sudo dumpe2fs /dev/sda1"

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1530004] [NEW] output volume is randomly changing level

2015-12-29 Thread Jamie Ryan Mascola
Public bug reported:

I've confirmed that the volume control for the PC is changing of it's
own volition. The volume applet in the top pane (using Ubuntu Gnome
15.10) and the volume sliders in alsamixer are changing every 10 seconds
to a random level. The interval of the changes is not periodic (random
time interval and output volume). It does look like the fader goes to
zero before choosing a new random volume level.

I am running 5.1 surround, and the motherboard supports the feature. I
had this problem while running while 15.04 with a single stereo (green
jack, rear) output speaker system. It seemed to be repaired in an
update, because the issue disappeared after a while. I removed the USB
peripherals that I usually have attached which control volume (eg
keyboard) I even went as far as to disable bluetooth in case that was
causing issues.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1488056] Re: Rejected send message, 10 matched rules; type="method_return", sender=":1.84"

2015-12-29 Thread Dana Goyette
I have an Ubuntu 15.10 that's up to date, and I'm still seeing the
"rejected" message.

The seemingly most relevant file is
/etc/dbus-1/system.d/org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.conf, from the
network-manager config file. None of the rules in that file seem to
handle all the "(unset)" fields.

Can you try if newer printer-driver-gutenprint 5.2.11-pre1 included in 15.10 or

You can test without installing by using an ubuntu-desktop live-cd.

Since I upgraded from 12.04 to 14.04 this printer has not worked well.
Sometimes it prints after repeatedly pressing the paper feed button. I often
get the error message: "missing print filter". I have had the printer for
approx. 10 years, and it worked well before 14.04.

I have tested on a windows 7 laptop and on a mac. Both work well.

Conclusion: printer is working. Someting has happened to cups or the
  cups driver for this printer.

I have tried the Open Printing user forum and only gotten a report
from someone with the same problem

I attach the error log (/var/log/cups/error_log)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1528651] Re: Code and functional issues with new download in browser feature

2015-12-29 Thread Olivier Tilloy
** Description changed:

The new "download in browser" feature just landed. This works nicely,
but there are a few remaining (mostly minor) issues that need to be
addressed now. I’m filing this bug to track them all, we may want to
break it up in several bugs if/where relevant.

  Code issues:
∘ encapsulation broken in DownloadHandler.qml with references to
'downloadsModel'
∘ encapsulation broken in DownloadDelegate.qml with references to
'downloadManager'
∘ missing autopilot tests for file upload, picking webbrowser-app (including
multiple files)
∘ showDownloadsPage() doesn’t make much sense on WebViewImpl, should be an
internal function
∘ contentHandlerLoader should have "asynchronous: true"
∘ use default PageHeader from UITK instead of custom BrowserPageHeader?
∘ increase test coverage for the DownloadsModel C++ class
∘ for consistency, downloadsContainer should be made a Loader, as done in
https://code.launchpad.net/~osomon/webbrowser-app/keyboard-shortcuts-focus-fixes/+merge/280083
  ∘ in Downloader.qml and Browser.qml, calls to Component.createObject() should
pass the properties as second parameter, instead of setting them afterwards
∘ DownloadsModel should probably be made a singleton type, like HistoryModel
and BookmarksModel
∘ includes are not ordered alphabetically in downloads-model.cpp
  ∘ in DownloadsModel::moveToDownloads(), the [if (QFile::exists(destination))]
statement is useless, the do…while loop is enough

  Functional issues:
∘ the "No Downloads available" message is confusing in picker mode, it would
be clearer if it made it explicit that no download matching the expected file
type is available
+ ∘ edit mode in the downloads page should be disabled if the list is empty
∘ while in edit mode in the downloads page, the 'delete' icon should probably
be disabled if no download is selected (it currently is enabled and exits
select mode)
∘ save link from context menu doesn’t work great with links to other pages:
no mime type is displayed (and sometimes even no title), and then the page is
saved without an html extension, it can be viewed with the document viewer, but
this displays the source of the page, it doesn’t render it (we may need special
casing for HTML files in the download folder to open them directly in the
browser)
∘ (possibly a bug in the UITK?) upload form that accepts only one file, can
end up selecting two: select first, then second, then first again, then second
again, and both are selected
∘ when downloading an image to the gallery, I’m seeing this message in the
log: Failed moving file from
"/home/phablet/.cache/com.ubuntu.gallery/HubIncoming/2/capture2.png" to
"/home/phablet/Downloads/capture2.png"

Code and functional issues with new download in browser feature

Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:

∘ for consistency, downloadsContainer should be made a Loader, as done in

output volume is randomly changing level

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I've confirmed that the volume control for the PC is changing of it's
own volition. The volume applet in the top pane (using Ubuntu Gnome
15.10) and the volume sliders in alsamixer are changing every 10
seconds to a random level. The interval of the changes is not
periodic (random time interval and output volume). It does look like
the fader goes to zero before choosing a new random volume level.

I am running 5.1 surround, and the motherboard supports the feature.
I had this problem while running while 15.04 with a single stereo
(green jack, rear) output speaker system. It seemed to be repaired in
an update, because the issue disappeared after a while. I removed
the USB peripherals that I usually have attached which control volume
(eg keyboard) I even went as far as to disable bluetooth in case that
  was causing issues.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1530023] [NEW] USB Mouse doesn't work after suspend

2015-12-29 Thread James Cobban
Public bug reported:

My laptop suspended because the lid was closed while the laptop was not

worked and I had to use the trackpad. I tried plugging the USB dongle

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1480320] Re: ondemand init script sets governor "powersave" when only "powersave" and "performance" available

2015-12-29 Thread Armin Rigo
May I also chime in? If I wanted my machine to run at Celeron speed, I
would not have bought a core i5. I think it makes no sense to select
the "powersave" governors by default without telling the user in any
way. Any non-expert user will not know why his machine runs 2x more
slowly on Linux than Windows. It sounds like a very good reason to drop
Linux (or, maybe, try a different distribution).

I have read somewhere that intel-pstate's new "performance" is nicely
engineered to cover most use cases; unlike the old "performance" it
doesn't mean the machine will always consume as much power as possible.
In fact the new "performance" consumes less power than the old
"ondemand". The latter disappeared because the new "performance" covers
the same use cases and more.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1238194] Re: keyboard doesn't work to enter password with encrypted partitions ubuntu 13.10 saucy

2015-12-29 Thread Timothy Baker
I am encountering this same issue running 15.10 as a VM in hyper-v as
generation 2 vm.
I can't work around it as there is no vm, and disk is encrypted, Sucks as i'll
have to reinstall from scratch. Any fix that can be made during install? I
tried the update-initramfs -u -k all but it doesn't fix the issue.

Bug description:
  [Justification]
With the kernel in 13.10, some systems use a different USB host driver than
previously. Failing to include this driver in the initramfs causes regressions
for users who need to interact with the system in early boot using a USB
keyboard, such as users with an encrypted root filesystem. Such systems are
not bootable with this host driver missing.

  [Test case]
  1. On an affected system, reboot to a kernel from 13.04.
  2. Install the initramfs-tools package from -proposed.
  3. Reboot to the kernel from 13.10.
  4. Verify that you are able to type your passphrase at the prompt in the
initramfs.

  [Regression potential]
Minimal. The update-initramfs script will ignore missing modules (such as
the many other modules in the list which are built-ins), and the only change
made is to copy the module into the initramfs: it will only be loaded in the
initramfs if udev determines it's needed, just as it would load it after
switching to the root filesystem.

Is the same problem as here but in the new ubuntu 13.10 saucy
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1066376

I just can't use (i can install) a encrypted partition because when is
time to introduce the password to unlock partition keyboard is not
  working.

I don't know how to edit a bug to report it afects other version of
ubuntu so i created this new bug...

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1453763] Re: Unable to differentiate between toggled and untoggled buttons

2015-12-29 Thread Ambrose Chua
The buttons do appear depressed, but is barely visible, and has been an
accessibility problem for me too.

It seems that the buttons are impossible to tell apart except for their
orange border when hovered, and when not hovering, the button's inset
effect does change, but it's still hard to tell apart when put alongside
other buttons.

I think it can be best fixed by darkening the orange outline when a
depressed button is in focus. Other methods like depressing the button
more would in my opinion make the design more inconsistent, as from what
I can tell by the way the buttons were made.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1037285] Re: /boot fills up after many kernel upgrades

2015-12-29 Thread Gordon
When I installed 14.04 server it gave me the option to automatically
install updates. I picked yes. I logged in a year later to find that
my servers had installed three updates, then ran into this bug and
stopped. In fact, kernel updates come out so often that half the time I
try to install software apt is in a broken state because of this.

I could almost understand this kind of behaviour if having a cronjob do
apt-get upgrade was a non-standard setup, but if it's an option in the
installer? Unacceptable, and stupid.

A bug that completely breaks all security updates *should* be considered
a security bug. If Microsoft made the same mistake we'd lose no time in
mocking them for their insecure OS. Why should we hold ourselves to a
different standard?

My suggestion for a fix would be to fix apt-get autoremove to skip the current
running kernel. That way, autoremove can be triggered automatically right
after update without worrying about screwing up the currently running kernel.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

Bug description:

When typing in a US-international keyboard with dead-keys (or
UK-international),
typing 'c results in an accented c instead of a cedilla.

There is a workaround, which is editing the

  /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/immodule-files.d/libgtk2.0-0.immodules

  file and changing the line

  "cedilla" "Cedilla" "gtk20" "/usr/share/locale"
  "az:ca:co:fr:gv:oc:pt:sq:tr:wa"

  to

  "cedilla" "Cedilla" "gtk20" "/usr/share/locale"
  "az:ca:co:fr:gv:oc:pt:sq:tr:wa:en"

(add the 'en' at the end).

However, every time some update on this file is applied, one looses the
change,
and we get back to the accented c. That means having to modify the file again,
  logout and login.

For me this is no problem. But for my brother, mom, dad, etc, it is always
something
that at least makes me less proud of having convinced them to use Ubuntu,
because
they don't know what to do each time this happens.

I think we really need a configurable keyboard layout, or at least (and that
would
be very easy), the inclusion of alternate layouts on install that for the
dead-key
options (as US-deadkey and UK-deakey), alternate layouts as
US-deadkey-cedilla.

This change is relevant for at least Portuguese and French.

For just the reason those bugs are marked as duplicates, there is no
need to update their statuses. So I think we are done now. :)

There is a workaround, which is editing the

  file and changing the line

  "cedilla" "Cedilla" "gtk20" "/usr/share/locale"

However, every time some update on this file is applied, one looses the

For me this is no problem. But for my brother, mom, dad, etc, it is always
something
that at least makes me less proud of having convinced them to use Ubuntu,
because
they don't know what to do each time this happens.

I think we really need a configurable keyboard layout, or at least (and that
would
be very easy), the inclusion of alternate layouts on install that for the
dead-key

US-deadkey-cedilla.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1469346] Re: DHCPv6 responses with multiple addresses applied incorrectly to interface

2015-12-29 Thread Alexey Zagarin
There is a patch exists that fixes this problem, but against more recent
version of NetworkManager: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=681764#c20
I tried to adapt it to 1.0.4 currently present in Ubuntu (and it works for me).
However, further testing needed.

[nm-system.c:280] sync_addresses(): (wlan0): adding address
'2607:::ad10::61/128'
  ...

  Jun 20 23:21:17 pinky-linux NetworkManager[6244]: [1434856877.837130]
[nm-system.c:247] sync_addresses(): (wlan0): removing address
'2607:::ad10::61/128'
  Jun 20 23:21:17 pinky-linux NetworkManager[6244]: [1434856877.837526]
[nm-system.c:280] sync_addresses(): (wlan0): adding address
'fd5b:::10::61/128'

In this case the global prefixed address was applied, then immediately
replaced by the ULA prefixed one.

So it's correctly parsing both addresses of the response as supplied
by dhclient, but the end result is not what is expected for the given
  configuration sent from the server.

The correct behaviour is to add/replace all addresses in the response
  as a set.

This negates much of the usefulness of supporting DHCPv6, and is an
impediment to integration with IPv6 networks requiring it's use.

making a hospital work with an app that is in phones, tablets and

This is one of the reasons I think VPN support is important, since
there are applications that require it to be international and secure,
and, without it, this internationalitation would be limited to the
  country's possibilities.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1529815] [NEW] InfiniBand DHCP flow with PRA and DHCP relay not working

2015-12-29 Thread Talat Batheesh
Public bug reported:

DHCP client is sending discover with Unicast type request for the offer, in
this configuration of IB to ETH through a relay we need the type to be
broadcast.

The issue is that when using dhclient from the client on Ubuntu (and only on
Ubuntu) with MOFED or inbox driver, we see that that DHCP server offers in
unicast instead of broadcast. It seems there is no way to correct this from the
client side using dhclient configuration file.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2015-12-29 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
As from ibus 1.5.11-1ubuntu1, ibus honors X11 compose files. With this
change, together with the pending language-selector commit, all
Portuguese users can type ccedilla easily in xenial.

If either the display language or the regional formats setting is a
Portuguese option, '+c will automatically result in ccedilla (ç).

* It works in the same way for Brazilian Portuguese and Portuguese
  as spoken in Portugal.

* It works whether the input method framework in use is ibus,
  fcitx, uim, or none.

If neither the display language nor the regional formats setting is a
Portuguese option, you can enable this feature manually by opening your
~/.profile file for editing and adding this line:

export XCOMPOSEFILE=/usr/share/X11/locale/pt_BR.UTF-8/Compose
