[Touch-packages] [Bug 1534964] Re: Hotplugging HDMI fails
Ok, I will do that. And thanks for helping me out with this. In other hand, there isn't really a crash report, the bug is that hotplugging HDMI cable isn't generating proper kernel events, thus external monitor doesn't work properly (only via boot). Only way its crashing is that via adapter linking. There is two way to connecnt HDMI cable, via dedicated port and via adapter (usbc). Should I create 2 different bug reports? First one handling this issue (hotplugging HDMI cable) and other one 'HDMI via usbc adapter hotplugging crashes X' ? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1534964 Title: Hotplugging HDMI fails Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Affected computer: Dell Precision 15 5000 Series (5510) with Quadro M1000M/PCIe/SSE2 graphics card (kernel 4.2.0-23-generic). [Touch-packages] [Bug 1240198] Re: [SRU]Wrong keyboard layout active after booting into desktop
Uploaded to trusty-proposed. ** Changed in: ibus (Ubuntu Trusty) Status: Triaged => In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ibus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1240198 Title: [SRU]Wrong keyboard layout active after booting into desktop Status in ibus package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in ibus source package in Trusty: In Progress Bug description: [Impact] When first boot into Unity desktop, English keyboard layout is active while all other parts of the system language settings are set to another language (e.g. German). The bug is properly addressed in newer upstream releases in Vivid, but the changes is too intrusive and not suitable for being back ported in SRU. And changing the default to use system keyboard layout solves the problem. [Test Case] 1. Set the system language to something other than English, e.g. German. 2. Create a new user, log in to the Unity desktop of the new user. 3. Check the keyboard layout, it should be German instead of English. [Regression Potential] Since this changes the default value of the keyboard layout settings by using system defined as default, it avoids using ibus's built-in keyboard layout related functionality, so that this could be a regression for users rely on this certain behavior (e.g. use English keyboard while want to keep the system language settings to German), but such behavior is not expected for normal usage. Looking at the times, the ping replies appear to actually come from 10.0.0.96, or at least some other remote host, based on the time values. If I ping 10.0.0.95 (my own IP), I'm seeing time values of 0.040ms or thereabouts, so an order of magnitude faster. I was about to enter a new bug report, but came across yours Ketil. Have same issue. The reported source address from the ping reply is wrong when an intermediary router sent an icmp-host-unreachable, after which the destination host becomes reachable and starts replying. In that case the reported source address is that from the intermediary router (or the originating host itself) that sent the icmp-host- unreachable, and not of the destination host that sent the icmp-echo- reply, as it should be. v@p8p67:~$ ping -n 172.31.168.107 PING 172.31.168.107 (172.31.168.107) 56(84) bytes of data. >From 172.31.168.161 icmp_seq=1 Destination Host Unreachable >From 172.31.168.161 icmp_seq=2 Destination Host Unreachable >From 172.31.168.161 icmp_seq=3 Destination Host Unreachable 64 bytes from 172.31.168.161: icmp_seq=4 ttl=64 time=7.46 ms 64 bytes from 172.31.168.161: icmp_seq=5 ttl=64 time=3.26 ms 64 bytes from 172.31.168.161: icmp_seq=6 ttl=64 time=3.41 ms ... It's my host, and it's normal to get the initial ICMP "Destination Host Unreachable" messages from the local IP when ARP fails. I almost immediately reran ping, and now the host was up from the start, and see responses coming from the actual host that I'm pinging. Looking at the times, the ping replies appear to actually come from 10.0.0.96, or at least some other remote host, based on the time values. If I ping 10.0.0.95 (my own IP), I'm seeing time values of 0.040ms or thereabouts, so an order of magnitude faster. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1327610] Re: No valid active connection found and Unmanaged device found
Hi, The IP of your machine maybe should not be 192.168.0.1, as it could be conflicting with the one of your router. Can you type "sudo dhclient em1" and give back the result? And if it connects your machine fine, can you then type in "sudo route" and provide the result? Besides that, what kind of machine is it? Tower or laptop? If a laptop, do you use a workstation with it? I don't think the language is relevant, but as I also use French in my computers, I'll try to upgrade one to Wily and see if I also get difficulties with the connection. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1327610 Title: No valid active connection found and Unmanaged device found Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Hi, I am using Ubuntu Trusty 64bits, with an Openbox environment, a tint2 panel and nm-applet started with the session. $ apt-cache policy network-manager network-manager: Installé : 0.9.8.8-0ubuntu7 Candidat : 0.9.8.8-0ubuntu7 Table de version : *** 0.9.8.8-0ubuntu7 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status $ apt-cache policy network-manager-gnome network-manager-gnome: Installé : 0.9.8.8-0ubuntu4.1 Candidat : 0.9.8.8-0ubuntu4.1 Table de version : *** 0.9.8.8-0ubuntu4.1 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 0.9.8.8-0ubuntu4 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages $ Here is my hardware configuration: Ethernet: 00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82577LM Gigabit Network Connection (rev 06) Wifi: Centrino Advanced-N 6200 driver=iwlwifi driverversion=3.13.0-29-generic firmware=9.221.4.1 Here is the problem: when I start the X session with wireless and ethernet both enabled, the nm-applet does show in the panel; once I deactivate the wifi in nm-applet, it just disappears; From there it does not reconnect to Ethernet (though the cable is plugged in). Sami00Sami: >"In other hand, there isn't really a crash report" Given all the crashes that have populated in your /var/crash (some not reported yet), it would be most helpful to report those. However, given that the nvidia drivers would be responsible for the desired functionality, it would be best to re-test to this in Xenial via http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ to get ahead of new functionality landing there. If reproducible in it, please file a new report scoped to precisely that by ensuring you have the package xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information running the following from a terminal: ubuntu-bug xorg Also, please feel free to subscribe me to it. However, if I choose to reboot without power-off, the green light on the USB-modem stays on during the reboot (keeps 4G-connected I presume), then it is possible to connect to internet from the drop down menu, most of the time. Some times I also had to deactivate- activate mobile broadband from the drop down menu before internet connection could be established. It is also not possible to edit the connections of the mobile broadband in the network manager applet; I get an error message: "(Translated from Swedish-Error initiating editor) settings/nm-settings-connection.c.955 - Connection didn't have requested setting 'ppp'". [Touch-packages] [Bug 1329191] Re: [MacBookAir5, 1, Cirrus Logic CS4206, Blue Line In, Rear] Line In using TRRS plug does not work correctly
*push* this happens on the MacBook 6,1 (late 2009) as well. It has the same Cirrus CS4206. I just tested the most recent alsa-daily which builds for wily/amd64 without effect. Internal Speakers, Internal Mic, Headphones all work - TRRS mic doesn't work (Mac OS X supports exactly this Headset device out of the box). I'm using 15.10 GNOME Ubuntu. In sound settings I can only activate the internal mic and don't even see any external (as with output where the label of the output device automatically changes if the headset is connected). uname -r Linux macbook 4.2.0-23-generic #28-Ubuntu SMP Sun Dec 27 17:47:31 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux running alsa-info.sh (with headset connected) => Your ALSA information is located at http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=7556cfd21195211e5d8bd44184d481b0bd26d892 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1329191 Title: [MacBookAir5,1, Cirrus Logic CS4206, Blue Line In, Rear] Line In using TRRS plug does not work correctly Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Microphone connected via TRRS plug on Macbook Air 5,1 is not recognised. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1535137] [NEW] Explanation bug in mkfs xfs Filesystem mkfs from util-linux 2.26.2
Public bug reported: mkfs from util-linux 2.26.2 during an exercise with creating xfs partitions on a Ubuntu 15.10 64 Bit virtual machine, I guess I found a bug. Explanation: When creating an xfs filesystem on a partition with a existing gpt table, the mkfs command return an error message with the advice to force the command to run by using the -f option (lowercase f) However, it wont work and as you can see at my bash text, the command tells me that -f (lowercase f) is an invalid option. I read the manpages of mkfs to determine what should be the correct option. Even here, the -f (lowercase f) is mentioned. -f Force overwrite when an existing filesystem is detected on the device. By default, mkfs.xfs will not write to the device if it suspects that there is a filesystem or partition table on the device already. So I tried the uppercase F (-F) to FORCE the command to overwrite everything which worked ! So there are 2 possibilities: #1 I am to dump to use a -f properly #2 The texts (man pages and stderr)are wrong written and should be replaced with a uppercase F. root@ubuntu:/mnt# mkfs -t xfs /dev/sdb2 mkfs.xfs: /dev/sdb2 appears to contain a partition table (gpt). mkfs.xfs: Use the -f option to force overwrite. root@ubuntu:/mnt# mkfs -tf xfs /dev/sdb2 mkfs: failed to execute mkfs.f: No such file or directory root@ubuntu:/mnt# mkfs -t -f xfs /dev/sdb2 mkfs: failed to execute mkfs.-f: No such file or directory root@ubuntu:/mnt# mkfs -f -t xfs /dev/sdb2 mkfs.ext2: invalid option -- 'f' root@ubuntu:/mnt# mkfs -F -t xfs /dev/sdb2 mke2fs 1.42.12 (29-Aug-2014) Found a gpt partition table in /dev/sdb2 Your mke2fs.conf file does not define the xfs filesystem type. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1531913] Re: Fallback image not shown when no image specified
The intention was that a scope can specify a specific fallback image. That image should be shown when the normal image load returns an error or an empty image (zero-length ByteArray, or whatever type it is). This allows the scope to specify a specific fallback image that might be needed to keep style/theming for the scope. If the scope doesn't provide a fallback image, or loading of the specified fallback image fails, the shell can substitute some generic fallback image. That was the thinking at the time we added this feature. What's the problem with doc? If it isn't right, I'll fix it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity-scopes-api in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1531913 Title: Fallback image not shown when no image specified Status in Canonical System Image: Confirmed Status in unity-scopes-api package in Ubuntu: New Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu: Opinion Bug description: In fixing bug #1520631 in unity-scope-click, as the store server will start allowing uploads with no icon specified, it was discovered that Unity8 is not showing the fallback when we do not include the artwork. Instead, it is only shown if we specify invalid artwork. This seems wrong, and instead I would think the fallback would be displayed whenever no other artwork is provided. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1535123] Re: Touchscreen location incorrect after changing resolution using unity-control-center with dual-display setup
David, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. To clarify, does the crash happen after a change to any resolution, or only after attempting to change it to 1920x1080? ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1535123 Title: Touchscreen location incorrect after changing resolution using unity- control-center with dual-display setup Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I have a touchscreen laptop with external display connected. Both support maximum resolution of 4k (3840x2160). The laptop screen is on the left, external display on the right. After initial boot from daily xenial live cd 2016-01-17, both screens are at the maximum resolution. When I touch the laptop screen, the cursor correctly shows my touch position. Using unity-control-center, when I set the resolution of the laptop display to 1920x1080, the screen blanks momentarily and apport reports that Ubuntu has experienced an internal error. The resolution reverts to 3820x2160 on both screens. I try again and the screen resolution changes properly. I submitted the report through apport several minutes ago, but I don't know how to link it here and I'm not sure it's related. After the resolution change, the laptop display on the left is 1920x1080 and the monitor display on the right is 3840x2160. Touches on the left are scaled to the entire width of the desktop, rather than under my finger. Reverting the resolution to 3840x2160 on both monitors through unity- control-center, the touches are still scaled to the whole desktop. In other words, touches on the right side of the laptop display register on the touchless monitor. When I log out, the touches are correct on the login screen. When I log back in as the ubuntu user with both resolutions at 3820x2160, the touch positions are correct. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1533930] Re: Duplicate artist in artist view
** Description changed: With the song collection in the attached archive, I see duplicate artist art. In the music scope, A-HA and 30 Seconds to Mars are shown twice. I tried 3 times so far, and each does something like segfault. I looked twice, and the errors were different, but was able to capture one output. The system has 6GB ram, and it used up all the memory. ended up adding 25GB of swap as fsck seems to use up a huge amount of memory. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1432236] Re: lid hinge 360 degree, touch pad is not disabled automatically
Su Heng, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product- support/product/inspiron-11-3147-laptop/drivers/advanced an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (A09). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible: 1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an apport-collect): sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date 2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement or not. 3) Please mark this report Status Confirmed. If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid.
