[Touch-packages] [Bug 1521381] Re: Volume control does not switch audio device after plugging in
[Expired for pulseaudio (Ubuntu) because there has been no activity for 60 days.] ** Changed in: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1521381 Title: Volume control does not switch audio device after plugging in Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: After plugging in an audio device, the volume control appears to stay on the main system device. Therefore, sound is emitted from the external device but when controlling volume, it doesn't change the output level. It is necessary to go to 'Sound Settings' and change the output device to the one where sound is actually being output from in order to gain volume control of that device. Use case #1: (1) Plug in USB Logitech Clearchat. (2) Control volume from the unity slider Result: Slider moves but does not change output level. Use case #2: (1) Plug in USB Logitech Clearchat. (2) Control volume using keyboard function keys. Result: Volume pop-up appears in Unity showing level changing, but output level does not change. Use case #3: (1) Plug in USB Logitech Clearchat. (2) Use built-in volume control buttons on the audio device. Result: same as case #2 Tested on Intel based desktop running 14.04 Tested on ASUS laptop running 15.04 This is not only limited to Ubuntu, seems present in RHEL6 as well. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1542755] Re: at least 3 reinstalls due to no onshut down or restart. msg start up sometimes, tried boot repair, something was missing, sorry I can't remember terminology. Problem
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal: sudo apt-get clean Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a memory test. Thanks in advance! [Touch-packages] [Bug 1539634] Re: network-manager crashes when using libnl-3-200-3.21.1-1ubuntu1
The fix in proposed also fixed it here!! thank you from myself and all my folks who had this happen, to all those who triaged this issue and fixed it! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1539634 Title: network-manager crashes when using libnl-3-200-3.21.1-1ubuntu1 Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in network-manager source package in Trusty: Fix Committed Bug description: [Triage Notes] This regression is caused by a libnl proposed update tracked in bug 1511735. It has not been released as an update, only proposed as an update for early testing. If you volunteered to test proposed updates, then thank you. Your care and attention will stop this regression from hitting ordinary users, and we appreciate your contribution to Ubuntu. If you are not aware that you volunteered to test proposed updates, then please be aware that your system is configured to do so. In this case, you probably should turn this off. I'd appreciate if someone could explain how to do this in the comments. [Impact] * NetworkManager depends on libnl (libnl-3-200 libnl-genl-3-200 libnl-route-3-200) and when libnl is updated to proposed 3.2.21-1ubuntu1 NM segfaults due to libnl exposing a bug in NM validation packets. This affects the 0.98 release of NetworkManager and has already been fixed in newer releases. * Backporting fixes from upstream release is required to prevent NetworkManager from faulting which breaks networking on most Desktop releases. * All patches applied are already accepted upstream and newer Ubuntu releases are not affected. * Upgrading NetworkManager to 0.9.8.8-0ubuntu7.3 prior to updating libnl-3.2.21-1ubuntu1 is required to prevent NetworkManager crashing. [Test Case] * Reproduce crash test: 1. Download 14.04.03 Desktop iso, amd64 2. Launched in a VM, run from iso 3. In terminal, enable proposed 4. sudo apt-get install libnl-3-200 libnl-genl-3-200 libnl-route-3-200 5. sudo restart network-manager # note the nm-applet disappears as NM has now crashed, no network conn. 6. dmesg to confirm network-manager crash 7. sudo dpkg --install gir1.2-networkmanager-1.0_0.9.8.8-0ubuntu7.3_amd64.deb libnm-glib4_0.9.8.8-0ubuntu7.3_amd64.deb libnm-glib-vpn1_0.9.8.8-0ubuntu7.3_amd64.deb libnm-util2_0.9.8.8-0ubuntu7.3_amd64.deb network-manager_0.9.8.8-0ubuntu7.3_amd64.deb 8. sudo start network-manager # nm-applet reappears, network connectivity restored * Successful upgrade test: 1. Download 14.04.03 Desktop iso, amd64 2. Launched in a VM, run from iso 3. In a terminal, sudo dpkg --install gir1.2-networkmanager-1.0_0.9.8.8-0ubuntu7.3_amd64.deb libnm-glib4_0.9.8.8-0ubuntu7.3_amd64.deb libnm-glib-vpn1_0.9.8.8-0ubuntu7.3_amd64.deb libnm-util2_0.9.8.8-0ubuntu7.3_amd64.deb network-manager_0.9.8.8-0ubuntu7.3_amd64.deb 4. sudo restart network-manager # NM still runs, no crash, net up 5. enable trusty-proposed in /etc/apt/sources.list 6. sudo apt-get update 7. sudo apt-get install libnl-3-200 libnl-genl-3-200 libnl-route-3-200 8. sudo restart network-manager # NM still runs, no crash, net up. [Regression Potential] * NetworkManager is a highly visible package, so testing NetworkManager functionality is critical. The patch does address the crash specificly introduced by the updated libnl SRU. * We need to ensure that users have installed this NetworkManager update before installing libnl3 update (special phasing needed). [Original Description] Testing out proposed libnl-3 package[1] exposed a bug in NM 0.98. After installing updated libnl3 and restarting networkmanager, NM crashes with: /var/log/syslog shows: init: network-manager main process (1057) killed by SEGV signal init: network-manager main process ended, respawning init: network-manager main process (1065) killed by SEGV signal init: network-manager respawning too fast, stopped The bug has been fixed in upstream 0.98 with these patches: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/commit/?id=8e4576b9fdb5c888d20a13aa2cc198df790dba54 http://cgit.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/commit/?id=65981edb9f562c07e78815c98093da67c50bfdcf To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1539634/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1542755] Re: at least 3 reinstalls due to no onshut down or restart. msg start up sometimes, tried boot repair, something was missing, sorry I can't remember terminology. Problem
This is not an AMD 64 desktop, but that was the OS option for 64bit. It is a pentium dual with a 945 chip, & Intel graphics, etc. 3.0+, maybe 2gb +ram x86 Emachine,W5233. I'll swap the hd soon to a 2TB, & install Ubuntu again. I burned the DVD copy of the amd64 that I installed successfully in the past I thought. I purchased a 32 bit 14.10 twice, but initially I had the dual boot windows wubi version of 12.04 64bit that I missed the upgrade on, so I downloaded the LT 14.04 so that wouldn't happen again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to gcc-4.8 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1542755 Title: at least 3 reinstalls due to no onshut down or restart. msg start up sometimes, tried boot repair, something was missing, sorry I can't remember terminology. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1532607] Re: Phone not usable while a call comes in - followed by "restart"
Until the moment I did not have this bug, at least with phone calls, because I have those reboots when I receive SMS. In OTA-8.5, the phone was great, no reboots, everything worked as expected. The screen was locked and I pressed the power button to unlock the screen. The phone did not react on any pushed buttons. The phone continued ringing but I was not able to do anything with the phone during this time. During the next minute the phone was blocked. After this period a "restart" followed. "Restart": The restart was not a real reset. The phone screen was black. Then approx. 1 - 2 minutes after the call was gone, the screen went on again and the ubuntu logo with the dots appeared (same screen when you start the phone but without the "bq"-screen). I did not need to enter the PIN code of the SIM card. The phone was again fully operational. This happened on January, 10th at approx. 13:30 h. I have attached the sys.log for your review and hopefully for tracing back the issue to the root cause. Now I can't even pair the phone with the car's system. The car finds the phone, and then asks me to enter the code "" to pair the device, but after a few moments, it just says the connection failed and asks me to try again. Which fails again. It was working fine just before the update. Any logs I should post to help debug? PS - The car is a 2015 Honda Civic Tourer, if that matters. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1542717] Re: [OEM, Realtek ALC892, Green Line Out, Rear] No sound at all
I noticed this thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1517726) from 2010. I downloaded a sample .wav file from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WAV and ran this: sudo aplay -Dplughw:0,0 -fcd Downloads/sample.wav It works! I can change the -Dplughw argument and play on both my motherboards rear output and through the USB stick. So there's something being lost in how pulseaudio interacts with this, I think. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1542717 Title: [OEM, Realtek ALC892, Green Line Out, Rear] No sound at all Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I'm unable to play any sounds. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1456706] Re: QGuiApplication::applicationState is never Qt::ApplicationSuspended
Isn't this fixed in r298? http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~phablet-team/qtubuntu/trunk/revision/298 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to qtubuntu in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1456706 Title: QGuiApplication::applicationState is never Qt::ApplicationSuspended Status in qtubuntu package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: In Oxide, I want to be able to flush profile data before an application is suspended on the phone, in case the application gets killed before it's reactivated again. I expected to be able to do this by connecting to QGuiApplication::applicationStateChanged and detecting when the state changes to Qt::ApplicationSuspended. From the documentation, this does seem to be the most appropriate state: "The application is about to suspend. When entering this state, the application should save its state, cease all activities, and be prepared for code execution to stop. While suspended, the application can be killed at any time without further warnings (e.g. when low memory forces the OS to purge suspended applications)." However, I only ever see 2 states - Qt::ApplicationActive and Qt::ApplicationInactive. For now, I've made Oxide flush profile data when the state changes to ApplicationInactive. However, I think that this behaviour is wrong when the Qt platform is not qtubuntu. Eg, on the desktop with the xcb platform, the application state changes to Qt::ApplicationInactive whenever none of its windows are in focus but the application is still running. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1542708] [NEW] amd Driver Graphical Problem.
Public bug reported: After using the software options fglrx am without access to several features of my computer, among which I can mention access the folders, the terminal, the control center etc, etc. I'm just with access only to the Internet firefox ... The rest of the computer, when I try to access, makes the system take me to the user login screen ... The system simply closes when I click on any icon other than the the browser, the icon of the exception xdiagnose that luck !!! If it was badwindows would think it was virus, but I'm finding it strange that all my problems have arisen after a simple exchange of drivers, including the one provided by xorg (in my opinion very soft spot for the harnessing of radeon hd 8330g ((APU A4 5000))) and the damned saboteur software AMD #-( who increasingly believe that militate against linux-ubuntu community. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1542691] Re: QSystemTrayIcon doesn't work when several.
No, sorry, that doesn't allow two tray icons because the object path on D-Bus is hardcoded. When we trigger .show() for service icon, a new main icon appears (with its ContextMenu). And when we trigger .hide() the new icon stay. So, to test it, I've wrote a litle application with only SystrayIcon. You can find Test Project on original thread. I've tested it with different version of Qt5. Only 5.5.1 works, but with only one icon. When I want to show the second directly, no one appears. If I don't show second, the first take its own and the second's context menu. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1542687] [NEW] Nvidia Driver issues
Public bug reported: The proprietary driver provided by Nvidia absolutely bricks the X server on 14.4 x64. i've had to re-install to fix the issue. ive been running into x-server problems even with the Nvidia driver provided in ubuntu updates, and the latest unity update causes X to randomly crash sometimes. i have to exit though Ctl Alt F1 and restart it. i believe it's still related to the Nvidia driver though. The car finds the phone, and then asks me to enter the code "" to pair the device, but after a few moments, it just says the connection failed and asks me to try again. Which fails again. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1535478] Re: Nano search History destroyed
Okay. So most likely the history file becoming inaccessible was not caused by a bug or misfeature in nano, but by the same cause that made your Ubuntu install stop working. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1517468] Re: Logitech Wireless Mouse M560 buttons Back, Forward don't work on Ubuntu 15.10
Prior to Ubuntu 15.10, M560 pointer buttons was incorrectly binded. The scroll button did whatever but never what we expected, button "previous" and button "next" hid or showed the focused window and the "left" button and "right" button ran "previous" and "next". In 15.10, previous and next buttons are not binded but the other button do what they should. I believe the correct configuration for imwheel is : imwheel -k -b "0 0 0 0 11 10". Otherwise, the higher button run previous and the other run next (which is not the standard). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1517468 Title: Logitech Wireless Mouse M560 buttons Back, Forward don't work on Ubuntu 15.10 Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Logitech Wireless Mouse M560 buttons Back, Forward don't work on Ubuntu 15.10 WORKAROUND: sudo apt-get install imwheel imwheel -k -b "0 0 0 0 10 11" & ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.10 Package: xorg 1:7.7+7ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.2.0-18.22-generic 4.2.3 Uname: Linux 4.2.0-18-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: wl .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.19.1-0ubuntu5 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Wed Nov 18 14:10:52 2015 DistUpgraded: 2015-10-22 21:56:09,943 DEBUG enabling apt cron job DistroCodename: wily DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: bcmwl, 6.30.223.248+bdcom, 3.19.0-31-generic, x86_64: installed bcmwl, 6.30.223.248+bdcom, 4.2.0-16-generic, x86_64: installed bcmwl, 6.30.223.248+bdcom, 4.2.0-18-generic, x86_64: installed vboxhost, 5.0.8, 4.2.0-16-generic, x86_64: installed vboxhost, 5.0.8, 4.2.0-18-generic, x86_64: installed GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0116] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:0494] InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-09-21 (57 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.04 "Vivid Vervet" - Release amd64 (20150422) MachineType: Dell Inc.
