[Touch-packages] [Bug 1577734] Re: Backport packages for 14.04.5 lts-xenial stack
Hello Timo, or anyone else affected, Accepted llvm-toolchain-3.8 into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/llvm- toolchain-3.8/1:3.8-2ubuntu3~trusty2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . [Touch-packages] [Bug 1588127] Re: Phone abandons incoming call
Is there some way to force media-hub to get stuck in this way? Or even better, perhaps write a test application that observes telepathy and deliberately fails to confirm. Then I could check that the results are the same as what I was seeing. "telepathy by design won't forward the incoming call to the approver ... until all observers confirm receiving the incoming channel" This means that a rogue application can block incoming calls by simply observing telepathy? That doesn't seem like a good design. In particular, media-hub is a very complicated piece of engineering with innumerable dependencies on other software and the wider network, and whose requirements are constantly in flux. Answering phone calls is so important, media hub should be treated as if it was actively malicious rather than depended on for cooperation. That said though, in my case I did see the approver (I assume that means the green/red slider answer call widget), and there was one ring, which sounds like it could rule out your guess. Anyway, thanks very much for your investigations! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to telephony-service in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1588127 Title: Phone abandons incoming call Status in Canonical System Image: Incomplete Status in ofono package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in telephony-service package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I just received five incoming calls but I couldn't answer any of them. In each case the phone started vibrating, then after a while the ring tone started and the answer buttons were displayed, but before I had a chance to answer, the phone seemed to give up and go back to sleep. Then I could see the green envelope meaning that I had missed a call. The fifth time was me trying from another phone. In this case it seemed that the line was still ringing, but again I was unable to answer the call. After rebooting the phone, I can now answer incoming calls no problem. So it seems this is some bad state that the phone gets into after a while. I've previously had problems with my phone's cover blocking the light sensor and preventing me answering calls. However in this case I was expecting the call and had prepared by opening the cover, so this can't be the problem. Phone is an MX4. OS Ubuntu 15.04 (OTA-10.1). FYI, this was a job interview, with a CTO who was phoning from New York. I'd already had to delay a week after missing the first appointment due to the exact same problem. I've been barely tolerating Ubuntu Phone's bugs up to now, but this is the final straw. Is the libvirtd.service named differently on the Ubuntu system? I can see that my existing kernels were marked as automatically installed: % apt-mark showauto | grep linux-image linux-image-3.2.0-40-generic linux-image-generic And, after the update was performed by unattended-upgrades last night, the new kernel is marked manual: % apt-mark showmanual | grep linux-image linux-image-3.2.0-41-generic This is a problem, because it renders the fix in this bug, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/923876 (Limit and clean-up kernel images and headers automatically in LTS) ineffective, since apt-get autoremove will not remove packages which are marked as manually installed. I'm running the following package versions: apt: 0.8.16~exp12ubuntu10.10 aptitude: 0.8.16~exp12ubuntu10.10 unattended-upgrades: 0.8.16~exp12ubuntu10.10 aptdaemon: 0.43+bzr805-0ubuntu9 This bug looks similar to https://bugs.launchpad.net/aptdaemon/+bug/1078544, however, I'm running a version of aptdaemon that supposedly has this fix applied. Please let me know if I can provide any other useful information. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1591935] Re: audio record works for call audio
On the trust-store aspect of this: pulseaudio should use the "feature" field when asking trust-store to verify requests, and use different enumeration values to distinguish ordinary microphone recording from voicecall recording. The respective functionality is available from trust-store today. Taking the bigger picture into account, I would vote in favor of keeping the voicecall recording feature enabled under the assumption that the different recording types are clearly surfaced to the user. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1591935 Title: audio record works for call audio Status in Canonical System Image: Confirmed Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in trust-store package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: krillin:ubuntu-touch/rc-proposed/bq-aquaris.en,#350 Install the app 'Recorder' from the Ubuntu Store. Now move to the phone app, and place a regular phone call. With the call active, open Recorder again, and start recording. As of 16.04, because the LSB specifies ABIs for various libraries that are no longer supported in Ubuntu as obsolete, the packages for the lsb modules have been dropped in both Debian and Ubuntu. This includes dropping of lsb-core, which is the component which provides the LSB-mandated ELF loader path - without which no lsb executable will work. This SRU will restore the bare minimum of LSB compatibility necessary to support known third-party LSB printer driver packages on Ubuntu 16.04. [Regression potential] The reintroduced 'lsb' binary package is known to not fully satisfy the requirements for a complete LSB-compliant system. This is a regression vs. Ubuntu 14.04; so anyone using LSB packages on Ubuntu 14.04 who upgrades to Ubuntu 16.04 may have the upgrade succeed without any warning from the package manager. As there are very few lsb packages in use in the wild, this is considered an acceptable regression, especially as this will land before the first 16.04 point release. [Test case] 1. Download the epsion 201106w printer driver package from http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/op/stable/debian/dists/lsb3.2/main/binary-amd64/epson-inkjet-printer-201106w_1.0.1-1lsb3.2_amd64.deb 2. Install the package and confirm that its dependencies are not satisfiable. 3. Enable xenial-proposed. 4. Install the package again and confirm that the dependencies are satisfied. 5. Verify that /opt/epson-inkjet-printer-201106w/cups/lib/filter/epson_inkjet_printer_filter can be run without errors about missing lsb ld.so or missing libraries. Starting with Xenial, lsb compatibility packages were dropped (besides lsb-release and lsb-base): lsb (9.20150826) unstable; urgency=low * Drop all the LSB compatibility packages besides lsb-release and lsb-base - Drop packages-availability checking in lsb-release - Truncate README.Debian to a minimum - Document this in lsb-base.NEWS.Debian * Change the versioning number to avoid any ambiguity; use joeyh's version.date, with version being Debian next stable's -- Didier Raboud Wed, 26 Aug 2015 12:00:00 +0200 The problem is that downloadable printer drivers (like the ones from Openprinting, but also from other available providers) that are suggested when installing a printer on Ubuntu depends on lsb, which is not available anymore: epson-inkjet-printer-201106w: Dépend: lsb (>=3.2) but it is not installable This triggers a regression where it is not possible to setup a printer this way (downloading a driver where no local driver is available) anymore. I see two possible solutions: - Add a proper replaces field to one of the remaining lsb-* packages, to hopefully fix missing lsb package (maybe it would be useful to also replace other compability packages that are not built anymore). - Re-introduce LSB compatibility packages, but that might be an overkill. Here's my xinput list: ⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2[master pointer (3)] ⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointerid=4[slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint id=11 [slave pointer (2)] ⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3[master keyboard (2)] ↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Power Button id=6[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Video Bus id=7[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Sleep Button id=8[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ HP Webcam id=9[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=10 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ HP WMI hotkeysid=12 [slave keyboard (3)] My keyboard is on id 10. Using the option 'greeter-setup-script' I've added a script on my lightdm configuration: #!/bin/sh xinput --list > /home/effe/list.txt xinput float 10 sleep 1 xinput reattach 10 3 The script is working, but the issue persists: the keyboard doesn't work for 10-15 seconds after the greeter and I need to wait. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to kbd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1596200 Title: Ubuntu 16.04: unable to use internal keyboard for 15 sec on boot Status in kbd package in Ubuntu: New Status in udev package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I've upgraded my notebook with an SSD. All works fine and I can reach the login in less than 10 seconds. Problem is I can't use the internal keyboard (perfectly working on grub) for at least 10-15 seconds, then it starts to working just fine. The touchpad and capacitive buttons are working without issues. Luckily I have a second HDD on my machine and I've made some tests with the old mechanical drive, with this unit I can input my password on LightDM without any delay. The issue is not (only) related to Xorg or LightDM, because starting in recovery mode shown the same issue with both disks: if I use an external keyboard (a Logitech k400r in my case) I have no issue at all on both login and recovery mode. ** Changed in: bash (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: bash (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to bash in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1588562 Title: Please add ~/.local/bin to the default $PATH Status in bash package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in bash source package in Xenial: Fix Committed Status in bash package in Debian: Fix Released Bug description: Starting in Xenial, 'pip install' by default places executables into ~/.local/bin. This is the de-facto standard place to put per-user executables -- for example, Fedora/Redhat puts it on the $PATH by default, and PEP 370 makes it the standard place for unprivileged installs of Python packages to put their scripts. But unfortunately, Ubuntu's does *not* add this directory to $PATH by default, which means that 'pip install' doesn't actually work -- any scripts that are installed are inaccessible, and every user has to manually add this to their PATH. Ubuntu should put ~/.local/bin onto PATH by default. Minor details (discussed with @doko at the PyCon sprints): - this should go at the beginning of PATH rather than the end, in accordance with Debian policy saying that more-local paths go before more-upstream paths. (This is inconsistent with how Fedora/RH do it, but consistent with how Python itself searches for packages.) - this will be added to /etc/skel/profile, so that it won't change any existing user accounts; it will only be applied to user accounts created *after* this change lands - unlike ~/bin (which Debian/Ubuntu have supported for ages), it will be added to PATH unconditionally, even if the directory doesn't exist. This is important to avoid a nasty trap for new users, where the first time they try to install a Python package they have to restart their shell. Since this only applies to new accounts, the directory will always start out nonexistent/empty, so having it in $PATH won't cause any unexpected changes in behavior. - possibly it would make sense to set this in /etc/environment or /etc/skel/.gnomerc or similar, so that it would also apply to non-shell processes (e.g. if the user wants to add a global key-binding to launch a Python program, then generally ~/.profile *doesn't* affect the environment where this command gets executed, and that can frustrate and confuse users if a command works fine from the terminal but not from a keybinding). But we should defer this discussion for the future, because even if this is a good idea, it isn't a good idea in a Xenial stable update. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1591935] Re: audio record works for call audio
At the moment, I think this bug has three subtasks: - trust-store should have a clear notion of 'call recording' as a separate permission required of apps. - Pulse Audio should use this permission for the voicecall-record plugin. If we agree, then there is a third task - Review our existing devices and confirm that voicecall-record is the only way the routing can set this behaviour up. Alternatively, I think Trust Store can take the view that it does not want to support call-recording, and in that case we should arrange all devices to disable this feature. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1591935] Re: audio record works for call audio
So, as the o/p I would add: jdstrand's note in #5 that we should only do this on a customer requirement is fine by me. We have a clear anti- requirement in some regulatory regions. Specifically that we should either treat call recording as a special trust domain, and prompt/warn the user about the behaviour, or simply disable the functionality. The oem bug #1569213 references the voicecall-record[1] profile as being newly enabled. Can we simply not disable that profile? Or is Ondrej saying that because of how we do routing, you might be able to still record without the voicecall-record profile (I'm guessing this means it would show up in pulse as a different, recordable profile?)? If that's the case, let's fix the routing. :) In other words: * the microphone is currently mediated by pulseaudio and trust-store * call recording recently was added somewhere and doesn't seem to be mediated by trust-store on all platforms (someone should confirm) * if pulseaudio and trust-store properly mediated call recording then this is probably technically enough to satisfy mediation requirements * (this bug) indicates it is surprising that call audio is lumped in with microphone recording. I agree this is surprising and strongly feel we should disable call audio recording until there is a clear customer requirement. call audio recording was never a consideration by our implementation because it didn't exist at the time-- if it is something we want, it should be properly designed (likely a 2nd trust-store prompt) [1]https://github.com/mer-hybris/pulseaudio-modules-droid/blob/master/README#L114 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1591935 Title: audio record works for call audio Status in Canonical System Image: Confirmed Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in trust-store package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: krillin:ubuntu-touch/rc-proposed/bq-aquaris.en,#350 Install the app 'Recorder' from the Ubuntu Store. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1392176] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla
sudo cat /proc//mountinfo -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1392176 Title: mounts cgroups unconditionally which causes undesired effects with cpu hotplug Status in cgmanager package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: == Comment: #0 - Preeti U. Murthy - 2014-10-20 04:40:12 == ---Problem Description--- Systemd mounts cgroups explicitly every boot. Since the user had no say in it, undesired consequences are observed in reaction to cpu hotplug operations. Here is how. Systemd moves the tasks to the cgroup mounted by it. This cgroup automatically becomes the child of the root cgroup which is present by default. The children cgroups are not expected to remember their configured cpusets after hotplug operations in the kernel. Hence when cpus are taken offline and brought back online they are no longer used for load balancing of tasks and hence remain unused. This is an undesired consequence because the user had not even asked for cgroups to be mounted, yet is not able to use the full capacity of the system. Only when the user himself creates cgroup hierarchies, should he be exposed to the side effects of cpu hotplug on cpusets. Else all online cpus must be made available to him which is not happening since systemd mounts cgroups on every boot. Hence please revert this feature or provide an explaination as to why this is being done. ---uname output--- Linux tul181p1 3.16.0-18-generic #25-Ubuntu SMP Fri Sep 26 02:39:53 UTC 2014 ppc64le ppc64le ppc64le GNU/Linux Machine Type = Tuleta 8286-42A ---Debugger--- A debugger was configured, however the system did not enter into the debugger ---Steps to Reproduce--- $ taskset -p $$ $ 0-127 $ echo 0 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu7/online $ taskset -p $$ $ 0-6,8-127 $ echo 1 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu7/online $ taskset -p $$ $ 0-6,8-127 Userspace tool common name: systemd The userspace tool has the following bit modes: 64-bit Userspace rpm: systemd_208-8ubuntu8_ppc64el.deb Userspace tool obtained from project website: 208-8ubuntu8 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cgmanager/+bug/1392176/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Touch-packages] [Bug 1454450] Re: Bluetooth mouse laggy and erratic
Thank you for your work) The keyboard is http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/BKB-10USWEGXAR Once it is paired it just becomes unstable. Big latency, and also Bbbugs liiike thisss. That particular bug is making it unusable. Also i was checking it in kacpimon, if acpi sees several key presses also, and it does. While that laggs there are no any errors at all in syslog or dmesg, only after disconnect. And it is not disconnected right after pairing. It is very random, but sometimes before error about disconnect drm:intel_pipe_update_end [i915] bug appears, sometimes not. Also important to mention that with windows 10 it works perfectcly (fast, stable, no disconnects). Every Bluez install i was installing with bluetooth library, but now i will try to work with native 5.37 lib and old and stable bluez to find if it is bluez or lib bug. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1572321] Re: owncloud network access is disabled
This commit was made to upstream as a workaround, for missing qt patches, so would be a minimal fix suitable for an SRU. https://github.com/owncloud/client/commit/de82d8fcdb06ce993ac5788176e41ff64fc828c4 Alternatively, reading the upstream bug it seems a qt patch is missing in the Xenial package version.
