[Touch-packages] [Bug 1584965] Re: [browser] scrolling uneven and queues up
Some part of bug may be related https://bugs.launchpad.net/oxide/+bug/1643428 (May be) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to webbrowser-app in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1584965 Title: [browser] scrolling uneven and queues up Status in Canonical System Image: Confirmed Status in Oxide: Confirmed Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I've noticed this on a bunch of websites, mainly on Arale but also on krillin, both running latest rc-proposed with and without oxide 1.15 The scenario is I'm on page A, navigate to page B, press back button, then try to scroll page A (flicking up). The page doesn't move for a short time then scrolls super fast almost to the bottom. Seems like the scroll events are getting queued up and then all applied at once. This site reproduces it pretty easy for me: 1) goto boston.craigslist.org 2) type "kayak" in the search field 3) you'll get a page full of results 4) click on one of the results 5) wait till page fully loads, flick quickly a few times, first flicks ignored. then press back button 6) wait till page fully loads and then start scrolling (flicking up, multiple times), first flicks ignored/queued then scrolling happens fast Expected results: the page should start scrolling immediately and keep up with action of finger Actual results: the page is not responsive for a few seconds then scrolls super fast toward the bottom To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1584965/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment in this bug report it seems that there is a problem with your hardware. I recommend performing a back up and then investigating the situation. Measures you might take include checking cable connections and using software tools to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to New. Thanks and good luck! [This is an automated message. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1624407] Re: Add a 'quit' message that is app-wide, as opposed to mir_event_type_close_surface

Supposedly, when the last window is closed, the application terminates itself (but this is not necessarily the case, see https://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qguiapplication.html#quitOnLastWindowClosed- prop). This prevents application authors from doing proper cleanup before the app is closed. For example in Qt, the QCoreApplication::aboutToQuit() signal is emitted only after all windows have been closed, so the application doesn’t get a chance to e.g. save the list of open windows (real use case for multi-window browser application which saves the current session). This is similar to unity7’s implementation by the way, but I think it’s wrong. Surely there must be a way (maybe toolkit-specific) to request an app to terminate itself (and fall back to closing all windows if not). [Touch-packages] [Bug 1643379] [NEW] ca-certificates in xenial still trusts CNNIC
*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Public security bug reported: CNNIC has been distrusted by Mozilla in April 2015 (https://blog.mozilla.org/security/2015/04/02/distrusting-new-cnnic- certificates/). The technical implementation involves blacklisting by notBefore date, which is unfortunately not replicatable by ca- certificates. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1577596] Re: ntpd not started when using ntpdate
The solution suggested in comment #36 works for me, ntpd is running after reboot. Actually I did not create ntpdate_bak in the directory, I simply inserted the exit 0 statement in the script. = To resolve the bug = I suggest if-up.d/ntpdate is removed from the system. = Moreover I suggest ntpd to be started with option -g. = Moreover I suggest a surveillance task (cronjob) for ntpd and hwclock update. And here are my arguments for the suggested solution: I tried to find a real world situation where if-up.d/ntpdate makes any sense. I could not find one. Apparently it is difficult to pin point the precise cause of the ntpdate/ntpd interference or at least it is difficult to decide how to correct it. This script seems to be the only one using deprecated ntpdate. If script removal is considered too aggressive just disable it by inserting the exit 0 statement. I assume that upon shut down the hwclock is set to the latest state of the the system clock. Upon (re)boot the time value kept in the hwclock is brought back to the systemclock. This should guarantee that the system clock even very early in the boot sequence is pretty close to the perfect value. There is no need to leap the time gap as is done by deprecated ntpdate. During normal operation there is no need either - ntpdate never does a better job than ntpd when called in a system that runs ntpd. Ironically if-up.d/ntpdate would bring up ntpd which is not fair in a system that was configured for some other method to maintain a proper clock setting. The only situation where I can imagine a leap in setting the time is desirable is when the hwclock fails. This is a bad situation that I had on a machine shut down for a long time and the battery of the hwclock had stopped to provide power. Unless the -g option is used ntpd dies because the time difference is larger than the panic threshold. The -g option does no harm in normal situations but allows for one big step in time to cope with that situation. If e.g. ntpd is configured with just one time resource and that resource suddenly changes by more that the panic threshold than ntpd would die. To cope with such a situation a surveillance mechanism (e.g. cronjob) should be in place including a restart mechanism. A cronjob could also update the hwclock on a regular (monthly) basis. Some systems really are up for years and then the hwclock might be off by more than the panic threshhold (1000") if there is an irregular shutdown (loss of power) . -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ntp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1577596 Title: ntpd not started when using ntpdate Status in init-system-helpers package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in ntp package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: After updating from 14.04 to 16.04 on a number of my systems, ntpd no longer starts at boot on any of those systems. `systemctl status ntp` shows: ntp.service - LSB: Start NTP daemon Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/ntp; bad; vendor preset: enabled) Active: inactive (dead) Docs: man:systemd-sysv-generator(8) May 02 19:10:14 host systemd[1]: Stopped LSB: Start NTP daemon. May 02 19:10:17 host systemd[1]: Stopped LSB: Start NTP daemon. Manually starting it using `systemctl start ntp` works fine. However, systemd does not seem to want to start it automatically at boot time. As best as I can tell based on trial and error, there is something special about the combination of the service being named "ntp.service" and the service depending on network.target. However, I haven't been able to identify exactly what is causing this. If I copy the init script to any other name, everything works fine: cp /etc/init.d/ntp /etc/init.d/ntpd Edit /etc/init.d/ntpd and change "Provides: ntp" to "Provides: ntpd" systemctl enable ntpd # After a reboot, ntpd.service is started, but ntp.service is not. If I remove "$network" from the "# Required-Start: $network $remote_fs $syslog" line in /etc/init.d/ntp, then systemd starts it automatically ... But of course it is started before the network comes up, so it fails. If I replace /etc/init.d/ntp with a file containing only the following, systemd won't try to start it automatically at boot: #!/bin/sh ### BEGIN INIT INFO # Provides: ntp # Required-Start: $network # Required-Stop: $network # Default-Start: 2 3 4 5 # Default-Stop: 1 # Short-Description: Start NTP daemon ### END INIT INFO echo "script was run" >> /ntp.log If I rename that same dummy script to /etc/init.d/ntp2, it is started automatically at boot. However, grepping the systemd source code and my systemd config files for ntp doesn't seem to find anything that might cause this behavior: /etc/systemd# grep -iR ntp * timesyncd.conf:#NTP= timesyncd.conf:#FallbackNTP=ntp.ubuntu.com /lib/systemd# grep -R ntp *

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1003461] Re: Print dialog doesn't display the status message for printers correct
After upgrading to 16.10 I can not reproduce this problem anymore. So feel free to close this bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to gtk+3.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1003461 Title: Print dialog doesn't display the status message for printers correct Status in gtk+3.0 package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: The normal print dialog doesn't show the correct status for printers instead it displays some random characters. Firefox and Thunderbird show the correct status which in my case would be: Printer 'Dell-5350dn-DKinvoice' has no toner left. Printer 'Dell-5350dn-white' has no toner left. The characters I see in the print dialogs for eog or gedit for example change with every mouse move. It doesn't matter which window has the focus, the characters constantly change when moving the mouse. My setup is I have one pysical DELL 5350dn printer with 4 paper trays and to access them quickly I've installed 4 printers with the defaults sets to the individual trays. However out of those 4 only two show those messages, the other two don't show any status at all. Also in Friefox the other two don't say that it is out of toner. I've attached a screenshot of the dialog. Not sure if this is related to this bug or if it is seperate bug. For the printers with this status the Firefox/ Thunderbird print dialog doesn't display any printer icon. It should be the printer with the yellow/orange triangle with the "!" in it. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1422143] Re: No wifi connection after suspend with systemd due to missing "wpa_cli suspend"
I am running 16.04 LTS on a MacBook Pro and it is dropping the nm-applet icon after a resume. I have a suspicion that it was reliable until I created a second user on the computer. Then it would appear for one person and not the other, and when produced in the other it disappeared from the previous user. I thought I had it solved but then when I left it a while and it had to wake up and resume the Icon was gone again. I have a suspicion that permissions are involved, the setup for nm-applet appears to be written for only one user to access it?? The rest should just accept it? At least I have it reliably beginning on a cold boot for either user or swap of user, but not resume apparently. I think my attempts (successful to some degree) have only been superficial and not getting at the heart of matter. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to wpa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1422143 Title: No wifi connection after suspend with systemd due to missing "wpa_cli suspend" Status in One Hundred Papercuts: Fix Released Status in NetworkManager: Unknown Status in wpa package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in wpa source package in Wily: Won't Fix Status in wpa source package in Xenial: Fix Released Bug description: Using systemd as my default init system if I resume from suspend my laptop, it doesn't automatically reconnect to the wireless network and it doesn't list the available network connections. The only way to get a wireless connection is to restart the network- manager daemon or going to the gnome-control-center, disable wireless and enable it again. SRU INFORMATION === In some of these cases this bug can be worked around by calling "wpa_cli suspend/resume" before/after suspend, like we used to do with the old pm-utils quirks (/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/60_wpa_supplicant). This only affects particular hardware, and thus this needs to be tested by affected reporters, there is no general reproducer for arbitrary systems.
